Which computer programming is not useful? Your question is not so clear. To receive a good response, you have to spend time in composing your question and make it clear enough.

Answer - Question 1

There has being many arguements that Java is becomming the giant of programming language, as it is used in written the android operating system. When comparing languages together, please compare with valuabe facts and not just with feasible evidence. There is no Superior language, as well as there is no Inferior language.
I do not think Java was used in writing the android operating system.

If you want it done programmatically (e.g with java) think this can also be achieved this way:

1. Read the excel file and pick needed values
2. do the approprate formatting using java.util Class Formatter
3. create any form of file you want (probably a .doc file)

Find an helpful link below:

ProgrammingRe: ATM Machine Programming Language. by youngestpr(m): 8:48am On Feb 24, 2015
A bit more about how an ATM works:

When you walk up to the ATM and you insert your card and punch in some details, the details are sent to a switch provider (Interswitch for example) and the switch provider in turn contacts your bank if needed and then bring back the necessary response for the ATM to answer your request.

So as others have said you can look at the ATM in 3 ways, the Hardware, the Software and the System as a whole. In considering the System, the programming languages involved will heavily depend on the Software or platform that the ATM OS is built with, the Software the switch is using and then the Software the underlying bank or financial institution is using.

I would like to remind us all that to every action there is always an equal but opposite reaction. Kindly consider your environment before you go into any business no matter how 'money-making' it is. For example, if you have little children around you, make sure you have taken good care of the risk before you go into soap production.
BusinessRe: I Want To Give Out N20,000 A Month To Help Young Nigerians (for Career Or Biz) by youngestpr(m): 5:50am On Feb 22, 2015
This is a very good initiative, I bet a lot of Nigerians have something like this in mind but have just kept quiet because of the 'thinking' of how possible it will be to implement. I am a software developer and I have also been thinking of how to go about helping small businesses improve their business process with simple software developments (but I have not seen any business that is really looking for that). My suggestion is that you might have to conduct a physical (or even a one-on-one) interview to be sure your fund is being utilised properly. However, this may mean making the project quarterly with a higher amount as suggested earlier so that it will really worth the effort.

Kind Regards.

Thank you for your response, I read the terms and condition and it rightly said that they are supposed to stop trading on any account on the customer's request. It is not like as if I do not want to reveal the name, I just wanted to be sure that they still do not want to cooperate because revealing the name will definitely lead into something else.

Thank you.

@youngestpr...the broker MOST likely will never give you real money to withdraw. I don't want to use the phrase "WILL NOT", but is more like it....and going by your discussion this people will beat you in any kind of 'court' you go to sad
Note the emboldened below
broker: It the manager that trade your account, when it get to your draw down the manager is suppose to close all trade
broker: but he refuse to do that

They will not take responsibility for the error.

Can we know the conditions on the $725 bonus given?....
broker: If a certain amount of lots has not been traded then their is no how u can withdraw...
Try to know the 'certain amount of lots' they require and kindly post it here please.
Perhaps you should work on a way to trade it yourself lipsrsealed
It will be nice if you can mention the broker's name, at least that will give heads-up to your paddies o.lol
It is well
Thank you for your contribution. The issue is that the company also presented the manager, I did not have any relationship with the manager, I do not even know him. I sent several emails to the company when the fund was getting a little below threshold but there was no response. I would have traded the bonus myself but I do not want to run into any of their tricks, they are not being sincere and if i decide to trade, they may sweep the money and give another story. I will give the name of the broker in due course.

first of all, what is the name of the broker.at least newbies can learn from this.secondly, i don't really trust all those brokers who claims they have fund managers who trade for their clients.also, i see greed in your dealings.you did not take measures to find out more about the broker and you went ahead to push in a wooping sum of 1k dollars,that is huge and you were thinking you would make millions overnight base on what they told you guys in the seminar.no form of verification or something because most brokers verify their client.the manner at which you transact the deal is too quick.this money could have been kept if you devote the time to learn it.i don't know if they would give you back a refund because from what i can see, they are still waiting for more deposit
Thank you for the response, I think there is something you are not getting clear. I did not intend to make millions overnight as i stated i gave them the instruction to only trade with 200 dollars out of the 1k. I also opened a personal account which I was using to learn how to trade and I never traded with greed. About verification, all verifications were adequately made as the company in question is a big one, I still insist on not revealing the name in question yet but I will reveal it if still things does not change. I am thinking of getting a lawyer soon to help.

I do not intend to trade the account anymore, I do not think it is a matter of who trades the account, i feel there is an hidden agenda here.
InvestmentForex Company's Trick To Sweep My Funds (advice Needed) by youngestpr(op): 1:06am On Jan 07, 2015
Hi all,

I need your opinion on the issue narrated as follows:

Some months back, I attended one of the forex seminars with a popular broker and I was asked to deposit an amount of money ($1000) into a manager account (MAMI) and that as the money is managed, the manager would be paid a certain
commision. I was also asked to set a minimum amount that should be left in case the trading goes the bad way which I did. Doing this meant that trading was
supposed to stop on my account if it gets to a certain minimum (i set a drawdown of 20% meaning they can only trade with $200) and trading should stop after
losing $200 or rather I should be notified if i still wanted the manager to continue trading on the account.

Trading started on the account with and after some days the balance went beyond the minimum set.
NB: This was not done (I was not notified)

Then I went ahead to send several emails that trading should be stopped on the account because I was receiving daily emails and monitoring how the money was
decreasing.

NB: I did not get any response to my emails.

Then i decided to contact some of their staff members that I know personally and they told me trading will be stopped on the account only to see that
only $75 was left in the account.

I waited to see if any action will be taken by the management to return the lost fund until after about 2 or 3 months when someone told me they were paying
bonuses to those who lost funds through their managers.

I applied for the bonus to be paid and a VIRTUAL bonus of $725 was paid with an agreement claiming that I must continue trading with it.
NB: I see this as a trick for them to claim the whole amount

Currently the bonus is sitting in an account with the company but my request is that I do not want a bonus that is virtual, I want back my real cash as agreed initially.

NB: Although by agreement I am not entitled the whole $1000 that i invested, I am entitled to the minimum amount of $800 of which I was left with $75. My claim now is $725.

I have a document which shows how the money reduced from $1000 to $75 and the series of emails I sent and the skype chats.

The most annoying part is anytime I send an email or make a request, they do not respond until I went and search online for their head office out of Nigeria in twitter and I started sending strong emails.

I have also pasted below a chat I had with someone from the Nigeria office that reluctantly responded after a lot of pressure.

broker: Hello!
broker: How are you today?
me: I am good and you?
broker: Great
broker: You said u placed a withdrawal on your account?
broker: Have checked your account and noticed the money on it was a bonus given to compeciate u
broker: If a certain amount of lots has not been traded then their is no how u can withdraw
me: the part i dont understand is the compensation
broker: smiley
broker: how will you lose my money and then you call it compensation
me: it is a return not compensation o
me: it was a manager account
me: i did not trade it myself
me: i invested with mtrading
broker: Ok, which ever way, returns
me: should i send u the details of how the money varnished?
broker: No, don't bother
broker: can track that here
me: but pls i need you to explain more to me why my money should become a compensation
broker: Its the managers fault not yours, i understand your feeling
broker: It the manager that trader your account, when it get to your draw down the manager is suppose to close all trade
broker: but he refuse to do that
me: i think we both understand the situation.
me: what we should talk about is the way forward
me: i dont even knw the manager and i dont think i should
broker: yes, i understand
broker: Oh you don't know the manager
me: and i dont think i should.
broker: Ok, the way forward now is to get someone that can trade that account
me: no way ma
me: i cant afford to take that risk again
me: i have suffered enough o
broker: That is the only way forward sir
me: then we are not in agreement
broker: Who filled the form for you?
me: it was online.
broker: and you signed it, right?
me: signed what?
me: I created a mami account
me: and moved funds to it.
me: with an instruction of the minimum risk level
me: how do you trade a 1000 dollar account to 75 dollars
me: even me that i dont know how to trade, i cant do that.
broker: I understand!
broker: who connected you to a manager?
me: and i am not sure you are aware of the series of emails i sent to stop trading on the account before it got to that level.

There has been silence since and it is running to about another month now.

Thank you

Nastydroid: Is it advisable to use a 32bit laptop for programming?
You need to first understand the difference between a 32 bit system and 64 bit system and then you can determine if you should use it. The main difference between 32-bit processors and 64-bit processors is the speed they operate. 64-bit processors can come in dual core, quad core, and six core versions for home computing (with eight core versions coming soon) "more info from google smiley". My opinion would be that if you are not having any issues with 32-bit, you do not need to look for 64-bit. If you are a beginner, 32 bit should be more than enough for you.

Plus Microsoft Access was the beginner step recommended by the school for prospective students and a bunch of articles i read online. it's basically a "started from the bottom..." kind of move. Or are you saying it's of no importance at all and i should jump straight into Mysql?
In my opinion, no knowledge is lost. If the school recommends Access, start with it but just have it in mind that SQL is good.

How dyu teach d bascs of programmg in a language tht is out of touch with modern reality without teachg all the mistakes and bad habits in that version to d students?
Y dont computer schools teach computer appreciation usg windows 95 or DOS? Afterall,its just computer appreciation.
Dont forget that windows 95 and DOS formed the basis of windows 8, we would have as well thrown away windows 8 because it is also a windows product.
Y dont drivg schools teach drivg usg peugeot 404 ,afterall the principles are d same?
Y dont schools teach kids how to write usg slates and chalk? After all the principles are d same.
Y are ppl not taught to type with manual typewriters anymore? The principles ar d same.
Sometimes cost of upgradg to better technology is high and cud justify usg old tech but in d case in point wat justication is ther?
Newer improved languages abound.
I think i disagree with the way you are looking at 'better' technology, just because some languages are popular, does not mean it should necessarily be the best. In fact the more a language is popular, the higher the risk in using it for some applications.
(http://www.theguardian.com/technology/askjack/2013/feb/08/java-remove-ask-jack-technology)
- they are free
- books on newer languages number in the millions.
A search for java,python,perl,ruby online and offline will produce many resources.
Compare with a search for a fortran 1958 book in d local market or online?
- modern languages ar updated frequently. Lots of open source programs for students to see and inspect.
Compare to a full scale program in BASIC,PASCAL,FORTRAN, d type used in Nigerian Unis.
- students can easily accelerate learng by studyg ahead if ample materials abound in their language.
A student startg out in say python can easily buy a book in d local market and study ahead of d lecturer,increasg his enthusiasm to learn, before d session is over he's investigatg android dev and pyQt.
Before his final year he's soliciting jobs in industry ,his years of usg a mainstream language bcomes an asset. He doesnt need to unlearn anythg.
Are you again saying open-source languages are better than those that are not open-source?
He wont b tempted to precede a comment line with REM as would b d case if he were taught with BASIC.
You can use * or ! instead of REM now and there is no difference between that and // that java is using.
Now compare to students strtg out with FORTRAN,PASCAL,BASIC
can put this as features on your c.v? Which employer will b excited about u , usg these crude technologies?
it depends on where you are applying for job. That is what some employers are looking for and I will emphasize again that I believe the knowledge of any programming language is a plus even 'ADA'
The time wasted teachg junk techs cudv been better invested.

Like i say, laziness,apathy, sheer stupidity and foolishness is wat will allow schools (of higher learng for tht matter) jump recent,superior,frequently improved,hugely popular,free alternatives to go settle for obsolete scrap and justify it.
Laziness in skill acquisition and passage is a different thing entirely. If BASIC is junks then Java too is junks smiley

asalimpo: [I harvested this codes from wikipedia].
they look very natural and intuitive for teaching present generations programming.

ladies and gentlemen, introducing PASCAL
hello world
Program HelloWorld;
Begin
WriteLn('Hello world!')
End.

not bad.

to create a type
type
x = integer;
y = x;
...

Here's the java equiv:

class Integer{}

// creating an integer.
Integer i = new Integer

a complex type

type
a = array[1..10] of integer;
b = record
x : integer;
y : char
end;
c = file of a;

format for modularizing programs

program Mine(output);

var i : integer;

procedure Print(var j : integer);
begin
...
end;

begin
...
Print(i);
end.

pascal has goto

BASIC

this program calculates the average of a group of numbers.

5 LET S = 0
10 MAT INPUT V
20 LET N = NUM
30 IF N = 0 THEN 99
40 FOR I = 1 TO N
45 LET S = S + V(I)
50 NEXT I
60 PRINT S/N
70 GO TO 5
99 END

point: is y teach useless needless concepts. line numbers that are mandatory but u'll never resort to when u learn
later languages. GOTO that you'll never see in later languages.

anoda code block in basic

DECLARE SUB PrintSomeStars (StarCount!)
REM QuickBASIC example
INPUT "What is your name: ", UserName$
PRINT "Hello "; UserName$
DO
INPUT "How many stars do you want: ", NumStars
CALL PrintSomeStars(NumStars)
DO
INPUT "Do you want more stars? ", Answer$
LOOP UNTIL Answer$ <> ""
Answer$ = LEFT$(Answer$, 1)
LOOP WHILE UCASE$(Answer$) = "Y"
PRINT "Goodbye "; UserName$

SUB PrintSomeStars (StarCount)
REM This procedure uses a LOCAL variable called Stars$
Stars$ = STRING$(StarCount, "*"wink
PRINT Stars$
END SUB

this is more intuitive that something that ruby,perl,python,scala etc could do.?

END SUB = } (IN C-LIKE LANGUAGES)
outside the course where will the student use this syntax again?
granted PRINT is easier on the eyes than
System.out.println("some bla"wink;

but which one is easier for writing modular code in.
why learn the easier
PRINT
and the useless all caps convention no language supports
only to unlearn it in your next higher level class?
if you learn junk, which you'll never compile and run except on the board, only to unlearn it,
unlearn it cuz its too bad for modern use - who is the fool? the school that upholds this philosophy or
the students that allow this meaningless routine take place on them in the name of learning?
The only reason BASIC and PASCAL seems easier is because they were all procedural then.
you open a file, write you top down program and go.
procedural has been superceded , programs number in the millions,
old world basic and pascal and all the fortrans in this world couldnt l handl large software.
large software then was maybe 3,000 lines of code. huge was maybe 50,000 loc.
modern languages were structured for large software that's y taking off in them isnt easy.
cuz they force you to modularize from the start.
that's y java,c++ starts you off with a class and gets you importing packages and classes
early.
while its hard early on, you'll thank God for it when you code hits 100 000 loc plus.
i dont even want to mention ADA which is paranoid.
to justify this crap, from a computer science student/software engineer is lamentable
Do you know that Fortran is now becoming more object oriented? Do you know that virtually all languages had the goto statement although it is now deprecated in most. Who says people still use goto in BASIC? Maybe we are looking at different 'BASIC'
