Obio/Akpor LGA, 17 Wards AAC 7,495 PDP 281,164 See finishing ![]() |
The party backed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) In RIvers State, and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, the African Alliance Congress (AAC), has continued to sink as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the results of two more local governments where election was completed in Rivers State on March 9. INEC had earlier on Tuesday announced results in 15 local governments with Incumbent governor of the state, Nyesom Wike winning in 13 of them. While Wike polled 426,279 votes, his closest challenger, Biokpomabo Awara, of the AAC, garnered 129,855 vote, leaving a margin of 296,424, as at Tuesday. The electoral body later announced it will continue collation by 10am on Wednesday (today). When the collation resumed as promised, Wike continued his lead, polling a total vote of 281,164 votes to defeat Awara, who got 7,495 votes in Obi-Akpor. Also in the result of Ogu/Bolo local government, Wike garnered 11,855 while Awara of AAC got 814 votes. In Asari Toru, Wike also won, scoring 32,172 votes to AAC’s 18,945 votes. The collation is still ongoing. With results so far released, Incumbent Governor Wike is currently cruising to victory with over 600,000 votes ahead of Awara. In Degema, Wike got 12,133 votes to again defeat AAC Awara who got 5,071 votes. More results are expected later today and should Wike continue to lead with such wide, INEC may declare him winner by the end of collation if the number of registered voters in areas elections failed to hold cannot make any difference to the poll outcome. https://www.ripplesnigeria.com/rivers-guber-poll-amaechi-backed-aac-sinks-further-as-inec-resumes-collation/
