The 24-year-old man, Salu Ladayo, who allegedly stabbed a 19-year-old secondary school leaver, Confidence Nwama, to death in Oshinle area of Akure last week for refusing his love advances has blamed the devil for the incident. While being paraded on on Friday at the Police Headquarters, he said, “After she came back from the venue of her West African School Certificate, WASC, examination, she was told her that I was seen with another girl. . . She was very annoyed and came to my place on Saturday. She started cursing me, saying if I make love with another girl, that I won’t make it in life. I asked her why she should be placing a curse on me. . . I told her I could not do that and I returned the curse to her. She left in annoyance. She came back on May 15,2018 and I asked her to forgive me and as we were talking, I begged her to revoke the curse but she refused. . . I then seized her phone and we started to drag the phone. She went out and told one of our neighbours what happened. . . When the woman came in, I told the woman what she did and the woman left to call another of our neighbour and before she (neighbour) came back, I didn’t know what came over me, I took a knife and stabbed her to death.” https://aprokogirl.com/7587/how-the-devil-pushed-me-to-stab-my-secondary-school-girlfriend-suspect-see-pictures/

uphoria, that’s the feeling washing over most of the Liverpool supporter-sphere at the moment. Their front three are reaching meteoric heights, and their devastating influence on games has become a staple of both the Premier League and Champions League. Teams now fear Liverpool, not simply because of the goalscoring prowess, but also the knowledge that it is now harder to breach what used to be a shaky back-line. Liverpool bought the most expensive defender in world football to help fix their defence, and that’s exactly what he’s done. With reassurance at the rear, Liverpool’s counter-attack has become even more devastating, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain fast becoming a key component to supply Mané, Firmino and Salah’s rampage. He’ll have an accomplice to help with that ferociously quick movement next season, too: Naby Keita is one of the world’s most talented young midfielders, and his arrival will only increase the fervour with which Liverpool fans treat every potential counter-attack. It’s quite easy to forget, amidst all that, that this is a Liverpool side that sold its most valuable asset in January to Barcelona. The season wouldn’t be where it is now without Phillipe Coutinho; he made 13 goal contributions (7 goals and 6 assists) in the Premier League and was involved in a further seven goals in the Champions League group stages. No matter the acrimony of his departure, Coutinho was a distinct influence on this Liverpool team. And yet, the months since the 31st January have shown Jürgen Klopp to be right. Liverpool look to have secured top four despite the absence of their “magician”. Liverpool have continued their devastation on the scoresheet, especially in the Champions League, where they recently set the single-season Champions League record for the most goals scored by an English team, as they hit their 32nd and 33rd goals of the competition against England’s current dominant force, Manchester City. The sale itself has proved to be something of a masterstroke in the short-term, with the incredulous goalscoring of Mohamed Salah quickly brushing any sorrowful thoughts regarding Coutinho from the minds of Liverpool’s faithful. In a business sense, too, Liverpool sold an asset who was clearly not the most important facet in Klopp’s team for £142 million, all while going on a storming Champions League run that will see the club earn a minimum of £52 million as a reward. This was despite the clamour for an instant Coutinho replacement in January. Klopp refused to spend what he labelled “crazy money” for any of the targets he had in mind and instead gambled on his front three continuing their dominant streak. It paid off. The question is, then, do Liverpool still need to replace Phil Coutinho? Recent reports suggest Liverpool have been scouting Bruno Fernandes, a talent who many will undoubtedly compare to Coutinho should the Reds make that an active pursuit. Fernandes possesses the same game-changing influence as the £142 million man and could well be one of the ideal fits to directly replace the Brazilian given his dribbling ability, positional versatility and ability to contribute goals (he’s netted 9 and assisted 8 in 29 Liga NOS appearances this season.) Unfortunately, his release clause currently sits at €100 million. That’s a similar figure to the one AS Monaco were demanding for Thomas Lemar in the summer and January when Coutinho’s departure seemed imminent. This writer has been on record about why Lemar would be a phenomenal addition to this Liverpool squad, yet paying £90 million for someone who’s not necessarily guaranteed to start every game is still a lot of money. Consider too, that Liverpool have a pressing need to address their midfield. Positionally, there are still plenty of gaps between the defence and midfield, leading to problems defensively. A defensive midfielder will surely be paramount on Klopp’s shopping list with Emre Can’s likely departure and Jordan Henderson’s worrying injuries. Would the money not be better spent on a creative midfielder to sit next to Naby Keita? Liverpool are reportedly interested in Napoli’s Jorginho, and while Oxlade-Chamberlain has been immense for Liverpool in the second half of the season, perhaps it’s him that can provide the hybrid of midfielder and attacker that Coutinho brought to Klopp’s tactical setup. Then there’s the fact that Roberto Firmino currently lacks an adequate understudy. Would a Coutinho replacement allow coverage for when Firmino – Liverpool’s functionally most important player – needs a rest or picks up an injury? Spending £100 million on a Coutinho replacement, when this side has shown exactly why they could get away with selling him in January, may be dangerous when there are more important positions to address. Put simply, if the decision is between buying the pair of Jorginho and Wilfried Ndidi or buying a shiny new Phillipe Coutinho, the latter should be ignored for the purpose of moving forward. The notion that Liverpool should simply spend big money because they need to be seen as “a top club” is absurd and, thankfully, Jürgen Klopp agrees. While Virgil van Dijk cost £75 million, Andy Robertson cost £8 million. Mohamed Salah cost £40 million less than Romelu Lukaku and has scored twice as many Premier League goals. If Klopp and his director of football Michael Edwards have proved anything during their tenure at Liverpool, it’s that the right signing matters. That right signing might not necessarily be a replacement for the forsworn magician. And that might be a very good thing indeed.

Nabi Tajima, the great-great-great-grandmother regarded as the world’s oldest person has died in Japan at the age of 117, ABC News reports. An official in the southern Japanese town of Kikai said Nabi Tajima died in a hospital on Saturday night. She had been there since January. Ms Tajima was born on August 4, 1900, and reportedly had more than 160 descendants, including great-great-great grandchildren. Her town of Kikai is in Kagoshima prefecture on Kyushu, the southernmost of Japan’s four main islands. She became the world’s oldest person seven months ago after the death of Violet Brown in Jamaica, also at the age of 117. Guinness World Records certified 112-year-old Masazo Nonaka of northern Japan as the world’s oldest man earlier this month, and was planning to recognise Ms Tajima as the world’s oldest person. The US-based Gerontology Research Group said another Japanese woman, Chiyo Yoshida, was now the world’s oldest person in its records. She is due to turn 117 in 10 days. Ms Tajima’s death comes three days after the death of Celino Villanueva Jaramillo, who claimed he was 121 years old. Mr Jaramillo’s ID card stated he was born on July 25, 1896, but he was not recognised as the world’s oldest person by Guinness due to a lack of official documentation. The Chilean lost his birth certificate in a fire that burned his house down 20 years prior. https://www.olofofonaija.com/2018/04/worlds-oldest-person-has-died-in-japan.html?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter

Former Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, has opened up on why he delayed the burial of his late colleague, Ali Wakili. According to Ndume, he told the Imam presiding over the funeral rites of late Wakili to delay the interment, to see if the late Senator would rise from the dead. Speaking at a valedictory service held in late Wakili’s honour on Wednesday in Abuja, Ndume, said: “Ali Wakili was a hot-tempered person. As we share common name, we also share many things in common. He’s a year older so we always make issues from that. “He had two wives, I have two wives; he has 10 children, I have 10 children; he has 5 grandchildren, I have 10. I was in the 7th senate, he’s in 8th. So, I use to tell him that I am older.” Before he could complete his statement, Ndume broke into tears which lasted for seconds before he continued his speech, saying that he deliberately delayed the burial of Wakili with the hope that “the dead will come back to life.” “I deliberately told the Imam to delay his burial till after Asri (Muslim afternoon prayer held between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30p.m.) hoping something will happen. I remember Hope Uzodinma at the cemetery saying that we Muslims are in haste to bury the dead. That he may come back to life,” he noted. https://musbizu.ng/delayed-senator-wakilis-burial-see-will-rise-dead-ali-ndume/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter

EBUKA OBI UCHENDU, THE HOST OF THE 2018 BIG BROTHER NAIJA SHOW, ANNOUNCED THAT THIS WEEK, THE PUBLIC WILL BE VOTING TO BRING BACK TWO OF THEIR FAVOURITE EVICTEDHOUSEMATES. As expected, the twist elicited social media reactions from many of the viewers. While some were excited about the prospect of having their favourites back on the show, others considered it unfair to the current housemates. Via their official website, organisers of the show have explained the twist, which, while it’s the first of its kind in Africa, has been featured in ten seasons across the US and Canada versions of the show. What organisers have to say about recent #BBNaija twist On a flat surface view, the potential ‘returnees’ have been exposed to the outside world, the media and have created strategic formulae that might work in their favour in terms of game; again, flat surface view. In reality however, the only difference between current and Ex-housemates is the amount of information at their disposal. The one group know whose been nominating them but the other doesn’t, the one has established who the strongest contenders are in terms of numbers and the other hasn’t. In terms of the votes however, the power still lies in the viewer’s hands; immunity is only awarded to Housemate that wins it fairly and nominations are driven by the Housemates themselves so, the probability of two Housemates bringing biased scales to the House are non-existent. To each their own strategy. Other twists on #BBNaija Double Wahala Up until the seventh week, the housemates contested in pairs. This meant that if one housemate gets evicted, his or her partner leaves too. If a housemate gets a reward or punishment, the partner will also be at the receiving end. Also, for the first time in the history of #BBNaija, it was announced that whoever emerges the Head of House won’t be guaranteed immunity and the veto power to save a nominated housemate and replace with another. The eligible Housemates campaigning to return to the house are: Anto, Leo, IfuEnnada, Ahneeka, Angel, Princess, Bitto, Vandora, Dee-One, Khloe and K.Brule. https://musbizu.ng/bbnaija-organisers-explain-bring-back-evicted-housemates-twist/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter

The manager of King Sunny Ade who is identified as Clement Ige has expressed his dissatisfaction towards the action the duo singer did without seeking permission to use KSA lyrics. Ige has been employed to Sunny Ade for over forty years now and he surely knows what is boss owns. Speaking at Goldberg’s Ariya Repete Roundtable discourse in Abeokuta, the manager revealed that these young generations are just full of their self. He said; “They use English language to speak Yoruba. Like the young man who sang ‘makole marale.’ How do you build house before buying a land?” he asked. Many of them don’t give credit to the original composer of the song they adopt. They just sing it without seeking permission. That’s a copyright infringement. It’s not done in developed societies. Till today, Small Doctor didn’t get our permission before and after singing ‘ijó tí m’ojó l’àná, tí wọn n’pariwo, oni nkọ, ola nkọ.’ And many of them are guilty of this. The Davido that used Sunny’s lyrics in his song didn’t even get it right and that’s because he didn’t ask for permission. If he did, we would have corrected him. What is ‘Kuluso ewe, agbagba ewe…?’ The line is actually ‘Seleru agbo, agbara agbo’. I know because I co-wrote the song!” It was earlier reported that Davido is not responsible for writing many of his hit track that he only pays to acquire them. https://viviangist.com/featured/davido-small-doctor-guilty/

Long after a seeming dead fracas between Kiss Daniel and his estranged label, G-Worldwide, the singer has now been slammed with a police invitation for an unconfirmed reason which is suspected to be G-Worldwide hitting back at him. The singer could very much be in trouble again, as the Zonal Police PRO Dolapo Badmus, stormed his page to inform him that he is wanted by the Police. It seems like his phone lines had been changed and the police have been unable to contact him via phone. His emails and other mediums of passing information to him seemed to yield no results too. So the best way the police thought they could reach and summon him for a meeting was via his IG. After the singer shared a photo of himself on IG and expected the usual likes and comments, the Police PRO stopped by the comment box and dropped a note for the singer, telling him to check his DM where the police had sent an I.V across to him. The comment by the Police PRO reads, “Check your DM!!! Police wants you.” The reason for summoning the singer is yet to be known. But it is rumored that it has to do with his pending court case with his former label, G-Worldwide.

Nigeria is a melting pot for diverse culture, beliefs, values and tradition. A traveler from any part of the country or the world would undoubtedly have an enjoyable time experiencing the pomp and pageantry that come with commemorating our cultural heritage. This is done through various traditional gatherings and festivals celebrated by indigenes of the land. It is in line with the above, that the Egba people in their wisdom and vision have been gather once in a year to remember their illustrious and brave liberator, Lisabi Agbongbo Akala in the famous Lisabi Festival. The festival is a rallying point for all Egba sons and daughters from far and wide to celebrate the fearless and brave feats of Lisabi in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. Little wonder the festival itself took after the name of the warrior. eegun lisabi Lisabi masquerades dancing Importantly, the Lisabi Festival is held in high esteem by the Egba people because it reminds them of how they conquered their enemies in their torrid past as well as the individuals that played key roles in liberating the people, especially Lisabi Agbongbo-Akala. He was the hero of the war years of Egbaland as he gallantly fought to defend the people against slavery and oppression. The Lisabi festival is celebrated to recognize and appreciate his fearlessness and gallantry. According to history, when the other Egba leaders had resigned to fate under the unbearable servitude they were consigned to by the Oloyo, Lisabi was preoccupied with the thought of how his land of birth would be freed from the shackles of slavery. Towards uniting the people from an onslaught against Oloyo’s formidable force which was an amalgam of many towns and villages which were similarly consigned to servitude, Lisabi reportedly formed a cooperative society which had able-bodied men who were farmers as members. lizabi pix Alake of Egbaland, Oba Michael Adedotun Gbadebo watching traditional drummers do their job. Abeokuta’s history points to the fact that Lisabi proved to be an energetic leader as he worked harder than others whenever they went to work on a member’s farm, so much that every member promised to do his best when it was time to work on Lisabi’s farm. When his (Lisabi’s) time came, instead of asking members to work on his farm, he declared war on Oyo. His cooperative society members were amazed and afraid, but accepted to go to war because they did not want to disappoint him by reneging on their promises. With supreme war tactics, Lisabi’s army, whose numerical strength was far lesser than that of the Oloyo, won the battle, consequently obtaining freedom for the Egbas. OLUMO ROCK Loading... The history of Egba Land is incomplete without referencing the Olumo Rock. The rock is arguably the most popular landscape and tourists’ attraction in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Egba People cherish this major landmark because it provided them refuge during war and a vantage position to attack and finally overcome their enemies. Hence, it is not surprising that the Lisabi Festival kicks-off with the traditional boom of guns on the Olumo Rock. This boom is a signal to all and sundry that the weeklong festival has started and you are invited to join in the fanfare. LISABI FESTIVAL The celebration radiates and showcases the glitz and glitterati of Egba and Egba People. Resplendent attires, deftly and beautifully plaited hair, acrobatic dance steps and traditional songs are usually on display to the applause of enthusiastic audience. The King of Egba Land or kingdom, popularly referred to as the Alake of Egba Land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Adedotun Gbadebo who by rite usually host the event, receives his subjects belonging to different age grades at the palace as they come to pay homage to him In this era and time, Lisabi festival has gone beyond some traditional individuals coming together to celebrate the fearless feat of a farmer (Lisabi), it is now been used as a rallying point to articulate issues germane to the development of Egba Land and its people. The festival has become a global festival which attracts not only tourist, visitors, sons and daughters from far and wide, but also giant telecommunication and corporate bodies who identifies with such festival, thereby sponsoring and supporting the weeklong activities as their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). FESTIVAL ATTRACTION A week-long programme of activities marking the 30th Lisabi Festival which was announced by the Lisabi Festival Committee 2016 kicks off today with booming of guns on Olumo Rock, public mobilization by women, ‘Woro’ dance on sectional basis and semi-final of Lisabi Football Competition at MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta. The final ceremony of the traditional Ayo Game competition as well as the finals of the Secondary School debate and Children social programmes have been slated for Tuesday, while the Inter School Quiz competition and the finals of Lisabi Football Competition will take place on Wednesday

Going with the ongoing social media week, Nigeria’s singer, D’banj, made a shocking revelation. According to D’banj, most of the new generation record labels are founded by Yahoo boys, and it is only in Nigeria that the owner of a record label doesn’t know anything about music. He said; Most of the new generation record labels are founded by Yahoo boys. You must understand first, why are you coming into music. Nigerian artistes need a lot of capacity building. It is only in Nigeria that the owner of a record label doesn’t know anything about music.” D’banj who spoke on the topic: “Changing the Game: Artistes are leaders”, further said that fame might not bring wealth but thinking out of the box will. He said “The fear of being poor made me to think out of the box to create wealth for myself and remain relevant. “Fame will not guarantee you money; fame will not give you wealth, but it can give you what you need if you channel it properly. “Channelling your fame properly to create wealth is another advantage that stands you out,”

Chelsea’s January sign in, Olivier Giroud has stated his greatest regret was leaving Arsenal without winning the Premier League with the North London club. The France international, who won three FA Cups while at the Emirates, swapped the Emirate for Stamford Bridge in an £18 million deal in January. However, in an interview with Willam Gallas who played for Chelsea and Arsenal, Giroud said, “A regret? I have one and it is not difficult to guess. “I do not know if we can really call it a regret but I have a little taste of unfinished business because I really wanted to win the Premier League with Arsenal. “It does not erase five and a half years like that but I repeated it often enough: it was my goal. “After, it’s not over, I’m still in the Premier League, now I’m in Chelsea. “For this year, I think the title is gone but next year we will hold great ambitions. ‘I still have this desire to win before stopping even if I still have good years in front of me.”
