Eight men who allegedly terrorised members of the public, were on Monday brought before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos by the Police.

The men are listed as: Olarigbe Olanrewaju, 22; Moses Ademola, 23; Evans Ezikiel, 20; Taiwo Oluwasegun, 19; Ganiyu Bashiru, 21; Wasiu Balogun, 29; Sundau Omete, 24; and Tunde James, 20.

The men were alleged to have deployed dangerous weapons in a manner to cause breach of peace in the Oke-Iranle area of Ajah, in Lagos.

They are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, membership of an unlawful society and unlawful display of arms in the public.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted bail in the sum of N50, 000 each by the Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje.

The magistrate in her ruling ordered the accused to produce two sureties each in like sum.

In addition, the sureties should show evidence of tax payments, to the Lagos State Government.

Earlier, Police Prosecutor, Insp. Lucky Ihiehie, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Nov. 8 at Oke-Iranle area of Ajah, in Lagos, at about 11:00 p.m.

He said that the eight accused, conspired with themselves as members of Eiye Confraternity and engaged themselves in a fight with another group of unknown boys with dangerous weapons.

“Some members of the public also sustained serious injuries while some properties were destroyed.

“They were arrested by a team of police men, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Langbasa Division, Ajah and transferred to the Anti- Cultism Unit, State CID, Yaba on Nov. 9’’ Ihiehie said.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 42 (a), 51 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, (Revised).

Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, a Nigerian musician popularly known by his stage name Kizz Daniel, has been held hostage by students of a private university in Nigeria.

The singer had been booked to perform at the school but he failed to do so. It was gathered that the singer had allegedly been paid a sum of N3 million but he refused to perform at the event which took place at Babcock university in Illishan-Remo. In a video shared on Twitter, the musician's white SUV was blocked at the entrance of the school from leaving the premises.

Lagos High Court in Igbosere at the weekend heard that the police hid suspected billionaire kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, alias Evans, from rights activist Mr Femi Falana SAN, in a toilet.

Evans told Justice Adedayo Akintoye that the event occurred in the office of the Lagos Coordinator of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Response Team, Mr. Phillip, a Chief Superintendent (CSP), soon after his arrest in 2017.

He alleged that the lawyer was contacted by his wife (Uchenna Precious Onwuamadike), shortly after his arrest.

Evans said the police told Falana that they had taken the suspect out for investigation, but the lawyer suspected otherwise and warned the police to prosecute rather than execute him.

Evans, in tears, made the claims while testifying in a trial within trial to determine whether his confessional statement to the police should be admitted by the court.

According to the Lagos State Government, which is prosecuting Evans on twin kidnapping, murder and attempted murder charges before the judge, the suspect’s statement was voluntarily made.

Its witness, Inspector Idowu Haruna, whose testimony preceded Evans’, told the judge that he took the suspect’s statement.

Haruna, a member of the IGP Response Team which arrested Evans, said Evans never requested for a lawyer and none of his family was present when the confessional statement was made.

He said: “The statement was recorded in an open office. He (Evans) was cautioned in English language and he narrated the story of his involvement in the kidnapping of victims.”

Haruna’s testimony was corroborated by CSP Phillip, who added: “The defendant was brought to my office after his statement was taken. I read the statement to him and asked him if he was forced to make the statement. He (Evans) said no.”

According to him, “Evans was in a good mood when he was brought before me by Inspector Idowu. He was very okay, he looked healthy, hence I asked him questions about the confessional statement.”

But, led in evidence by his counsel, Olanrewaju Ajanaku, Evans disputed their version of events.

He accused the police of assaulting him, and, after allegedly murdering several suspects in his presence in a “Saddam Hussein” style execution, he was terrorised into signing an already prepared confessional statement he never made.

Explaining Falana’s knowledge of his arrest, Evans said: “Immediately after my arrest, my wife called Femi Falana SAN, he came to SARS (Special Anti-Robbery Squad).”

He claimed that CSP Phillip told two armed policemen to hide him inside his office toilet and to tell the SAN that he (Evans) was not around.

He told the judge that he heard the lawyer and Phillip exchange pleasantries.

Evans said: “I heard Phillip greet him, ‘Good afternoon sir.’ Falana said he wanted to see me.”

According to him, Phillip told the lawyer that he had been taken out for investigation, but the SAN warned the police against summarily executing him.

Evans, wiping tears with a handkerchief, added: “Falana warned him that he did not want to hear that I had been taken for investigation only to be shot dead. He said he didn’t want to hear that I was trying to escape and then I was shot dead. He told them that if I had committed any offence, I should be charged to court.”

The defendant repeated his claims under cross examination by prosecution counsel Mr. Y. G. Oshoala.

Justice Akintoye adjourned till December 10 for continuation of trial.

Evans’ testimony followed the continuation of proceedings in the fourth and fifth in a series of kidnap, murder and attempted murder charges brought against him by the Lagos State Government.

But only two charges are before Justice Akintoye. Three others are before Justices Hakeem Oshodi and Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja High Court.

In the first charge before Justice Taiwo, Evans and three others – Joseph Emeka, Ugochukwu Nwachukwu and Victor Aduba – pleaded not guilty to a five-count charge of conspiracy to kidnap, kidnapping and attempted murder.

The federal government has put machinery in place for the realization of its food security through continuous funding of agricultural sector.

Chairman Senator Committee on agriculture and rural development, Senator Abdulahi Adamu disclosed this to newsmen when he led the committee to Jos on Saturday on oversight function.
According to Senator Adamu, “After our meeting with heads of government agencies under the agricultural sector, we are further convinced that the federal government is very committed to achieving its food security target for the country.

He said, “We are currently on oversight functions and the visit entail an inspection of 2017/2018 budget releases, its level of applications, achievements and constraints as well as physical inspection of ongoing projects.
“For this, the committee invited all the heads of agricultural research institutes located in the north to meet the committee at the National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI) in Vom, Jos. From the presentations by the heads of the agric research institutes, funding has improve, even release of funds that used to be zero percent has also improve significantly.
“Remember that, before now, budget for government parastatals will be released only two month to the and of the year. But now, funds are released early enough to ministries, agencies and parastatals.

“The issue of personnel cost in the appropriation has improved as much as 98%, thus means salaries has become regular and no worker is been owed salaries. Overhead cost is also witnessing significant improvement, but not up the level of satisfaction yet. The release on capital expenditure is on the increase if the reports presented by the heads of the agencies is anything to go by.
“All these is a testimony of the efforts the federal government is putting into the agricultural sector because its huge potentials to bridge the gaps in unemployment as well as guarantee food security.
“The good news is that the bill to join colleges of agriculture and research institutes in agricultural sector has passed beyond second reading and by the time the bill is finally passed the issue of funding of the sector will further improve. So if you ask me I will say better days ahead for the sector.

“And I can assure you the issue of funding and it’s releases will continued to improve because government is fully determined to maximize the potentials in the agricultural sectors for the achievement of food security and employment.
Senator Adamu however said that there ares still infrastructural challenges in these institutions to be addressed. As a committee of the senate we will do our best to address the concerns of the provosts. Because we don’t want to come on oversight functions and be hearing lamentations.

“But so far so good” he said.
Earlier in his welcome address, Director and Chief executive of the National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI) Dr. David Shamaki expressed gratitude to the Senate committee for providing the opportunity for the research institutes to tell their success story and their challenges.

The federal agencies in attendance during the committee sitting in Jos includes, Federal College of Animal Heath and Production Technology Vom, Federal College of Hoticulture, Dadin Kowa, Gombe State, Federal College of Land Resources Technology Kuru, Jos, Lake Chad Research Institute, Maiduguri, Federal College of Fresh Water Fisheries Technology, Baga, Maiduguri, Borno State and the host National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI) Jos.

The All Progressives Congress has alerted security agencies over the influx of thugs into some Kwara communities ahead of Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency bye-election slated for Saturday, November 17.

Mr. Femi David, the Personal Assistant on Media to Mr Raheem Olawuyi, the APC candidate, raised the concern in a statement issued and made available to newsmen on Friday in Omu-Aran.

The statement identified some of the communities as; Iji-isin, Ijara-Isin, Owu-Isin, Iwo-Isin, Oke-Onigbin, Esie, Osi, Idofin-Igbana, Omu-Aran among others.

It stated that the thugs were purposely binto the areas to instil fear in the minds of the voters ahead of the polls.

The party said it viewed the development, which had caused unnecessary panic among residents, as undemocratic and an attempt to disenfranchise its patriotic and loyal supporters.

“We have on good authority that some political thugs have been drafted into some of the communities where the bye-election has been scheduled to hold on Saturday.

“We have already alerted the security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to this development and they have assured us of prompt intervention in terms of adequate security and surveillance.

“Our supporters across the constituency are hereby urged not to entertain any fear of intimidation, harassment and that the desired freedom would surely be achieved devoid of violence.

“We called on security agencies not to relent in the discharge of their responsibilities by beaming their searchlight on the aforementioned identified areas.

Senate president Bukola Saraki has finally revealed why he is always against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and fighting President Muhammadu Buhari.

The former governor of Kwara state made the revelation in a leaked audio while he was addressing his supporters in the state. He said the in 2015 he carried APC on his head around Nigeria, adding that there was state that he did not campaign for Muhammadu Buhari. Saraki alleged that he paid for the elections in 30 state out of the 36 states of the federation up to the time of the election in 2015.

He also said that out of 36 states in Nigeria he funded President Muhammadu Buhari's campaign in 30 states, saying that in some states, he paid N200million, some N300million while some state got N400million each. But Sakari, however, said that the only states he did not fund during the build up to 2015 general elections are southwest states.

The leaked audio, which was transcribed and translated from Yoruba to English by a social commentator, Kayode Ogundamisi, read: "All that you have complained about tonight is on point, I can not find anything you have said that is not on point, you complained about empowerment. "Let us agree that the last three and a half years, things have not been easy at all, I agree and accept things have not been easy at all, particularly in the area of empowerment. "Before 2015 I have always tried to empower the youth and get you involved in appointments, but this time around as a result of what I call human factor, things have not been the same, I believe it is the will of God.

"When you all are complaining and you give example of Gegele and co and you compare it to what is happening now, I am sure you are asking yourself, what is happening? how come all of you struggling with me are not rewarded, it is unacceptable. "What is the point of putting everything into the emergence of a government and we could not benefit anything from the government, you are asking yourself, what have you benefited. "If you have not benefited personally in the last three and a half years, how do you go to market us, wont people ask you what you have benefited for yourself?

"It got to a stage that people will be making fun of you and asking you what you have benefited, but what is happening from Abuja, use me as an example, in 2015 I carried APC on my head around Nigeria. "Hardly any state in Nigeria that I did not campaign for Muhammadu Buhari, up to the time of the election in 2015, out of 36 states I paid for the election of 30 states. "Out of 36 states in Nigeria I funded Muhammadu Buhari, campaign in 30 states, some states I paid N200million, some N300million, some N400million, the only states I did not fund are southwest states. President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that many well-meaning Igbo leaders asked him to ignore the so-called endorsement by Ohanaeze Ndigbo of the PDP candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Buhari said he was told that the action by the Ndigbo apex group was all gas, lacking substance.

The President made the revelation on Friday at the Presidential Villa, when he hosted a group of Igbo leaders in Abuja, who pledged to mobilize votes for him in next year’s election.

Buhari said, based on assurances by Igbo leaders, he was not surprised about the split within the Ohanaeze Igbo socio-cultural group after the so-called Atiku endorsement.

Buhari said that the moment the so-called resolution was announced, he got calls from well-meaning leaders from the region asking him to disregard it as it was without any substance.

“From that moment, I knew that the resolution would not stand, and alas, there it was,’’ he added.

The President said that his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), got it right from the very beginning that the major problems facing the country were mainly on security, corruption and the economy.

He said: “We have done so much. Given the chance, we will do more. Given every chance, we will tell Nigerians where we were in 2015 and what we have achieved up to now.

“We will not get tired of speaking about the golden opportunity Nigeria lost during 16 years of the PDP. We earned money, which we didn’t use.

“The state of infrastructure we inherited was terrible – no roads, the railway was killed and power. They lacked conscience because anybody with conscience will not do what they did.

“We will report them to Nigerians. Let anybody lead this country but not the PDP. They were so reckless with the resources of the country.’’

“If you ruin the economy, send your children abroad to get education, won’t they come back?” he asked, adding: “I said it 30 years ago that this is the only country we have. We must stay here and salvage it together.”

The leaders of the delegation, Engineer Emeka Ekwuosa and the National Chairman of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Chief Chekwas Okorie, informed President Buhari that the Igbos and South-easterners generally understand the good things he is doing for Nigeria which they said, had unfortunately been misunderstood.

They promised to mobilize support for him in the south-east, saying that his re-election will be a national consensus.

Conjoined twin girls born in the blockaded Palestinian enclave of the Gaza Strip were separated in "successful" surgery in Riyadh Monday, the state-run Saudi Press Agency said in a statement.

Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabiah, who headed the team that operated on Farah and Haneen at the King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital, "affirmed the success of the separation surgery," SPA said.

The operation began on Monday morning, and involved nine stages of anaesthesia and the separation of multiple organs, including the liver, as well as restoring organs in Haneen.

The news comes months after a doctor and family member of the twins pleaded from Gaza that they be allowed to go abroad for the complex surgery.

Allam Abu Hamda, head of the neonatal unit at Gaza's Shifa Hospital, told AFP in October the girls were born joined at the stomach and pelvis and that the complicated condition could not be dealt with in the enclave.

Israel has maintained a blockade of the enclave for a decade, citing security fears concerns.

Conjoined twins who share key organs have a low chance of survival.

Farah and Haneen, whose condition Abu Hamda said was stable, have one shared leg but separate hearts and lungs.

Conjoined twins born in Gaza in November 2016 later died.

In 2010, conjoined twins from Gaza were transferred to Saudi Arabia for surgery to separate them, but doctors in Riyadh said their condition was too delicate to operate and they died.

Following the controversy over the partial demolition of Yinka Ayefele’s Music House in Ibadan, Oyo state gubernatorial aspirant, Mr Joseph Tegbe waded into the matter, seeking a civil resolution.

The partial demolition of radio station on Sunday, 19 September by the Oyo State government generated much public outcry as it seemed as if the State governor, His Excellency Abiola Ajimobi was personally involved in the matter.

While the state government has insisted that the popular entertainer did break the law because he started his radio station with out relevant approval by the government, many were not satisfied with the explanation. Ayefele approached the court on the issue and hearing has been fixed for September 12, 2018.

However, last week Thursday, Mr. Tegbe led the musician to Governor’s Office for a meeting that he facilitated. From immediate observations when it was concluded, it seemed to have yielded fruits of an amicable resolution. Governor Ajimobi and Yinka Ayefele came out of the meeting looking pleased. It is hopeful that all matters surrounding the musician’s radio station will be resolved satisfactorily.

A Nigerian blogger took his fiancee, Dammy, to the street they first met in August 2013, to propose to her.

They dated for eight months before they agreed to meet at the junction leading to Dammy’s house.

He took her to the same spot where they met and asked her to marry him. She happily said yes! Congrats to them!

President Buhari on Tuesday, said the 2019 general elections will cost the country about 242.4 billion Naira.

He sent a letter to the National Assembly to seek the approval of the sum which will be drawn from the 2018 and 2019 budgets. In the letter, he explained that implementing a budget of 9.12 trillion Naira in 2018 will be extremely challenging and did not consider it convenient.

Buhari, therefore, urged the lawmakers to transfer the funds appropriated for the new projects which were inserted in the 2018 budget to cover the sum of 228.8 billion Naira for the elections while the balance will be provided in the 2019 budget.

5. Iyanya
From singing the biggest song in 2012, Kukere to singing Iyanu Mashele. Truly village people have started following Iyanya.
We started noticing Iyanya’s decline in 2014 when all songs released were trash and label mate, Tekno started to overtake him in the craft.
Iyanya thought it was his label that was the problem, he pitched tent with Don Jazzy‘s Mavin Records, released an EP that was only downloaded by his friends and family.
Iyanya has really gone down and it would truly require a miracle to revive his music career.
The thing about the industry is about being relevant and also the ability to evolve.
Last year we had the “pon pon sound” and now it’s the wobey and shaku shaku sound.
“Industry competition is at an all-time high, and to stand still, is to fall behind!”

4. Ice Prince

Ice Prince’s case is worrisome and yet pitiful. How the heir to M.I‘s throne lost it is just unimaginable.
Back then in 2011, Ice Prince was on Fire, From Oleku to Superstar, he was giving us back to back. Going on shows overseas and also meeting the foreign artistes.
In 2014, Ice Prince met with Jay-Z, the first Nigerian Artiste to ever meet with the Hip-Hop Legend, we thought something was in the works, like a collaboration or Ice Prince was to be signed to Roc Nation, nothing happened.
Tiwa Savage got signed instead. Ever since then, Ice Prince has been a shadow of himself. His girlfriend issue, Maima really affected him a lot.

There was a time someone tweeted:-
“You can blow and unblow and go back to an upcoming artiste, ask Ice Prince”.

Up till now, Ice Prince still slugs it out with Dremo and Ichaba in the relegation zone.

3. D’Prince
Probably the only thing we know about D’prince is that he’s related by blood to Don Jazzy. Was there any time D’prince gave us a hit single? Oh the wack songs that got promoted and received airplay.
Give It To Me, his most decent single till date was nominated for Headies Award 2011 and was one of the best songs that time.
The problem with D’prince is he still hasn’t discovered his sound and genre. His songwriters/ghostwriters are wack.
Who remembers his Banana song, where he sang Banana up to 50times?? He needs to be kicked out from the Supreme Mavin Dynasty.

2. Sean Tizzle
Who remembers Sho Le back then in 2013. Apparently after Iyanya, D’tunes was looking for an upcoming artiste with potential.
He saw Sean Tizzle who was signed to Sound Sultan‘s Naija Ninjas. He signed Sean Tizzle to Difference Entertainment and Sho Le, their first product was an instant hit.
Sean tizzle went on to win Next Rated that year dusting off Dammy Krane The Thief and Burna Boy who went home crying and also D’tunes won Producer of the year.
Slowly, we began to see Sean Tizzle decline. But 2013-2014 was his peak year. But what happened to him? His is a mystery as well.
The thing about the industry is every year, new artistes keep flooding in replacing the tired ones who are stagnant and have nothing new to offer.

Several artistes exist in the entertainment industry who were once superstars but due to them not releasing hit singles, they became passive and the influx of artistes into the industry these days made them redundant.

1. Durella
Self-styled King of Zanga, Durella was known back then as a duplicate of D’banj due to the similarity in their voice.
Durella was well popular then in the street and made major waves with songs like “In The Zanga“, “Shayo” and even had a collaboration with the starboy, Wizkid on the song “Go Gaga“.
How Durella went down is one of the seven wonders of the world. Label problems, management problems, that he had to decamp from his label, Iconic Music to Dbanj’s franchise, DB records.
Also had problems with Dbanj who was accused of stealing his song, Blame it on the money.
Well, Durella has tried all comeback efforts but it seems the gates to the entertainment industry is currently closed.

According to reports, eleven notorious members of different cult groups have been arrested by the police in anambra state following an intensive manhunt of cultists who have been terrorising Awka and environs within the last few days.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Haruna Mohammed confirmed this to reporters.

It was gathered that about ten persons suspected to be cultists have been killed within Awka the anambra State capital in the last two days.

Four were killed around Eke Awka , three killed around Nkwelle Awka while one was killed around Regina Caeli Hospital Awka even as another was killed by 3 pm on Sunday.

The fight is reported to between Aiye and Vikings confraternities..
