EducationChancellors Order Universities To Open-pm News by youngice(op): 5:20am On Nov 27, 2013
The Committee of Pro-Chancellors of Federal Universities
on Tuesday called for the immediate re-opening of all shut
down universities across the country.
This is contained in a communiqué signed by the
committee's Chairman, Prof. Kimse Okoko, released in
Abuja on Tuesday.
The communiqué was issued at the end of the committee's
meeting to discuss the lingering strike by the Academic
Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other issues
affecting the Nigerian University System.
It stated that the call for the re-opening of the universities
was unanimously agreed by all Pro-chancellors in the
interest of the country.
The communique directed all the Vice-Chancellors to
comply with the decision.
It commended the efforts by the Federal Government to
address the major issues that led to the strike and lauded
the personal intervention of President Goodluck Jonathan in
the resolution of the dispute.
It also expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the
referendum conducted in all the branches of ASUU
nationwide, which voted 60-40 in favour of the suspension
of the ongoing strike.
The communique explained that the committee's decision
was based on the negative impact the strike had had on the
university system, students and the parents.
It, however, appealed for the understanding from the
leadership and members of ASUU to ensure speedy
restoration of academic activities on campuses.

isale_gan2: Real wrestlers don't just "entertain." Like boxers, they also fight. Also classic/amateur/olympic wrestling (gidigbo) is different from ultimate fighting and other mixed forms, which are legitimate in their own right.

Boxers 'fight'.
Wrestlers 'entertain'.

If they are put against each other to 'fight'....wrestlers should do better (in my opinion)

PoliticsLagos Community Leader Killed By Reckless Convoy Of Kwara First Lady by youngice(op): 7:50am On Nov 20, 2013
The killing of a female community leader by a trailer in
Abule-Egba in Lagos on November 13 has been linked to
the convoy of the First Lady of Kwara State, Omolewa
Ahmed.
The community leader, Victoria Adeoye, 63,
was killed when a tipper-trailer ploughed
into bystanders as it tried to avoid a head-
on collision with Mrs. Ahmed's convoy, which was driving
on the wrong side of the road.
Unconcerned, Mrs. Ahmed and her convoy of about seven
cars abandoned the accident victims and sped on towards
Abeokuta. The Kwara First Lady was on her way from
visiting popular Fuji musician, Kollington Ayinla, who was
receiving treatment at Hamkad Hospital for an undisclosed
ailment.
Eyewitnesses say the accident occurred when the fourth
vehicle in the convoy was exiting the small road leading to
the hospital. Mrs. Adeoye and a roadside ice cream seller
were killed.
In order to cover up the cause of the accident, authorities at
Hamkad Hospital gagged their workers from disclosing their
VIP guest, and swiftly moved Alhaji Ayinla to another
hospital.
Mrs. Adeola's son, Olusegun Adeoye, an Abuja-based
medical doctor, told SaharaReporters that Hamkad has
refused to disclose the killers of his mother.
SaharaReporters however learnt from people in the area that
although the plate numbers of the vehicles were covered,
policemen in Mrs. Ahmed's convoy had freely chatted with
people in the area and disclosed they were from Kwara
State.
SaharaReporters approached Dr. Femi Akorede, a
spokesperson to the Kwara State governor, who admitted
that the convoy at the hospital was that of the Kwara State
First lady. However, he vehemently denied that the convoy
caused the tragic accident, claiming instead that the brakes
of the tipper-trailer failed and endangered the First Lady's
convoy.
It is unclear how he obtained those details since he was not
on Mrs. Ahmed's detail.
Asked why the First Lady's convoy did not at least stop to
assist the victims of the accident they witnessed even on
compassionate grounds, he said she was only made aware
of it after she returned to Ilorin, the state capital.
Eyewitnesses however, contradicted Akorede's account,
insisting that the accident happened as the convoy
harassed motorists on the highway, causing the trailer to
careen off the highway and then slam into several people,
including Mrs. Adeoye who was at the bus stop on her way
to Oshodi.
The Lagos State police also tried to cover up the cause of
the accident by trying to use force to move the vehicles,
until a mob prevented them from doing so.
The accident occurred within 24 hours after another a
similarly reckless convoy of the Kogi State Governor killed
Professor Festus Iyayi, a former Academic Staff Union of
University (ASUU) President, on his way to an ASUU
conference in Kano on November 12.
SportsRe: Rate Nigeria's Match Against Italy by youngice(m): 9:08am On Nov 19, 2013
rapheal_olami: Funny how people comment. Don't forget these guys just finished a battle for world cup which the camping as started close to a week ago. Moreover, after the match in Calabar they had to fly to Europe. Imagine the stress of finishing training and a major highly rated match and flying hours in an airplane (No forget say na flying wahala kill one of our golden musicians o). I just checked the Italian Team player's profile and I realized that they consist of 70% Italian club players. Which implies that they will be so familiar with the weather in London and the distance won't be far from london to Italy considering that its the same Europe. Moreso, the Italians don't engage any match this week.. So they have less fatigue challenge.
So for me I will give nigeria a "B".

Mikel need to improve in his running/counterattack. Though he his good with counter passes sha o. But sometimes he slows down a counter attack. He is too slow for my liken and he passes the ball backwards many times. He plays more like a Centre Mid-fielder or more likely a defensive midfielder and the coach is using him as an attacking midfielder. I think Kalu uche (I don't know his form though) and Onazi plays well as an attacking midfielder.

For people saying Mikel is Overhyped, I think the player which is over hyped is Victor Moses. He is good but not as good has people do rate him. I don't think he is any better than Musa. He may be more reliable comparing him to Ideye sha. But Mikel should also work on his set pieces. Its bad if a midfielder of his class can't take corner kicks and free kick.

As for the players to be replaced for the world cup. I will vote Ideye out. He may be good but he is definite not fitting into the SE squad.

Oduamadi has only positioning to his credit, he lack other things expected of a striker.

I wish that those two will be replaced by Odewinge and Kalu uche if their forms are still good for the team o. I see Kalu as an utility player. We really need in that squad. We miss Garuba lawal. Someone that can switch positions easily. I don't think we need any addition or subtraction in t
he defense line. All we need is more world class friendlies to boost the home based guys' confidence, communication and compartment
. Becuase its not easy to play against the same balotelli and pirlo that you have been seeing on TV.

Pathetic answer....pray GEJ has been doing wonders since he got there! He has been fighting corruption including refusing to grant a presidential pardon to his Godfather convict

He has indeed gotten EFCC busy by sanctioning the prosecution of corrupt people including his party members and the fuel subsidy thieves who are known sponsors of his 2011 election

Oh GEJ has put a great stop to crude oil theft at his backyard by SS criminals

Indeed wonder-worker GEJ govt have deviced a means to police well our crude oil pipelines by increasing and funding well our security agencies rather than awarding pipeline security contracts to known criminals and goons

GEJ has really done well by reducing the price of fuel from N65 to N30 and not trying to snuff life out of the masses who had to defy all odds to force their magnanimous president to reduce the price from a life-threatning N140 to N97

He indeed has delivered on his promise of building 3 more refineries hence importation of petroleum products have reduced drastically

GEJ has indeed done well by polarising Nigerians along ethnicity and religious divide never before witnessed in this country

GEJ is sure performing wonders by plunging us back into needless debt while obliterating the debt forgiveness gains OBJ govt recorded and also almost wiping out the excess crude money

GEJ is sure the best this country has had in recent times cos he knew where the shoe pinches us since he was shoeless but now clueless when faced with challenges of nationhood

So much so for increased power generation and cut throat tarriffs and electricity charges we have had to battle with under him yet churning out the age-hold flimsy excuses of 'we are on top of the situation'

Nigerians have never had it so bad with a president who plays politics with our security choosing to name call people(opposition) has sponsors and supporters of a terrorist group which has tended to cripple his govt but lacking the political might to bring the people to book since he knows the people are gullible but will join him in chorusing the same propaganda
is this what he has done or will do
