i was  at my home browsing nairaland today at about 3:15pm to be precise when i recieved a call from a Man.
He told me he wants a website and how much it cost, i replied him that i programm website application or web designing for free and dont charge for it but he replied that he wants this to be a paid service because he wants the best and i said agreed.

When i asked him what kind of website this is?  He said its a website for his wife who is a Hair Dresses, that she wants people to apply for home service and service in the shop on the web. And she also wants to be uploading pictures of hair she plaits, and wedding clothes she stisches.  So i told him i can do it.
And he offered to pay me 15k for a start, and 65 when am through all this excluding my internet connection  because he is offering me his Starcomms during this period and he even bought a domain from GoDADDY.

Now fellow programmers am not suprise on some1 getting a website but what am suprise is  WHILE SHOULD A HAIR,wedding and beauty make up DRESSER  NEED A WEBSITE, of what use is it?  And is it not waste of Money.
Is nigeria this Advance? (though she lives at Asokoro Abuja which is the Government looters Estate).

am very sure you wont regret it if you follow this advice because its working for Me. To be honest with you i started web designing May of this year and while i was doing this i did it for pleasure and because of the excitement i get when i do things i see daily on the net. Now though am on web programming like creating of Website portals. I am very gratefull because i learned web designing if not i would have had a hard time learning.

And now this pays me, i stay with my parent. So am supposed to feed from them yes. But when i ventured into this my thinking change, although i dont collect money from people i work for i do it as free Job and guess what it pays much better. Since then i dont depend on Popsi for monthly internet connection, this or that. EVEN MY dad threatened to take me to the police station all because i programmed a secondary school Online payment Portal. Where student dont need to go school to submit tellers but the school website. I did this for free truly speaking but the school gave me 90k i mean 90,000 and even the director of the school gave me extra 20k as a gift. This my dad thought i stole but was suprised to hear from the director that the school gave it to me.

So in essense guy what am trying to say is. Web development, in terms of programming and design is not a waste of time a lot of opportunities are out there.

For example today i receive a call from a Man whose wife owns a SALOON hair shop in Town here that he wants some people to order online for private home service. I quickly said to him i can do it. And he said he infact drop a reasonable pay without even starting.

BUT WHAT I DONT UNDERSTAND UP till this moment is why should a Hair Dresses want people to order online.

@YAWA i am going to try what you said but i dont think its going to work because my dad like been over decisive. For example while i was in Ss1 he made me want to Medcine this i told him no. I wanted studying Something like Banking. But out of fear that he would not pay my school fees i entered science though i secretly registered engineering subject in My Jamb without his knowledge. That is how i scape through. Now i dont think this will be possible because i dont know where to get the 30% of that fee.

I have 18days to go before embassy registration by the corporation beside i need my fathers SIGNATURE but this is not a problem i have talk to my uncle and he wants to sign as a Guardian if probably he gets the money to sponsor me

on terms of ADVANTAGE
PHP takes the lead this is my reason for saying so,
php is open source unlike other the remaining 2 which are not and its difficult getting good Asp and Csp community especially ASP. Unlike php this has a lot, i mean tons of thousand of good community Out there. Where you can learn exchange ideas and progress faster for example i use the official site community [ php.net ] at times. And its really helpfull but when it comes to Asp and Cold fusion you hardly see people contributing in this forum because this languages are not open source therefore no one will really like to venture into. beside coding in Php is much flexible than coding with Cold fusion but am not so sure on Asp. Can you imagine you tell some one you are a web programmer and you begin to cold like this

NOW On SECURITY
on this issue of security this where Asp seems to get a little higher stand than Php but for coldfusion forget it. I already told you its a Mark up language.
The reason why i said that Asp have higher security than Php is this, it is rarely use so the high profanity of getting a hacker is very low unlike Php which is the most used Server scripting language today and besides its open source almost, beside Php is very simple in ways that it explain security lapses and portholes now building on this you can create more Lapses.

NOTE that this is the reason why banks or a Bank will never accept you to design its INTRANET application with php because they believe its open source and therefore liable to Hackers.

And it was based on the programming language you applied. I did applied Php/MYSQL/xhtml/JAVASCRIPT.
Now the result is out and out of 1523 to be precise 500people on Web programming i came out Second and has been granted a SCHOLARSHIP into Havard University USA. TO study web programming but the problem am having now is that my Dad has gone against it saying he does not believe on PROGRAMMING COURSES RATHER what you see is what you get. So in effect will deny me my chance now bros if you are in My shoes what will you do?
