so, you give me an example of good lyrics, and feel free to use your boy D'banj as an example. It should be really easy now, someone that calls himself lalaboi, is actually talking about quaility of names, typical online gangster!!! Durella has not dropped his album yet, and you all panicing, yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!! |
lalaboi, He said i am a gunner 20times, ok, and the verses, 3 verse, of lyrical perfection, did you ever think a song about the Gunners would be taken there, it is obvious you are a chorus junkie, hence why you like D'banj. A chorus sets up a song, the power of the song however is in the verses, now what probelm do you have with the verses. in my Adebayo jersey, in the club poping hennessy, get a little tippsy, omopayaski, omomiskiyaski, dressed up so gbaski, see paparazzi, enimmies!!! You go dey ask why me and Arsenal nah do or die, abi nah lie I lie e ooh. No be lie I lie ooh! Come of it, the boy is good, too good, 2gbaski!!! |
The only people that have beef with Sauce kid are the African Kings, and I think its childish, especially when you read some of the post of African kings on Nairaland. Its not needed, so guys grow up. Durella and Sauce kid are cool and I am sure they will always be, small misunderstanding doesn't make beef. Coolboyapg, at this rate your will not live to see 30, I am sure sure you can say that to Durella's face, you bitch ass mf, you want to f*ck D'banj so bad, go head and stop writing cheques your ass can't cash. Your last warning!!! |
MrJuwon, its a pleasure to know I can still believe in your objectivity. I must say, keep up the good work on your naija blogs. Let me make a point here, when it comes to whether a song is good or not, its is totally subjective, people like what they like. But one can and is allowed to compare it to a starndard or two, lyrics, beat, and delivery. And thats what Tundewoods was pointing out, compared to this standards the song is just there. Whether you like it or not remains a personal choice, I for one don't. I still tough wish him all the best as it is a difficult job, God help us all. |
I have one question, why do all these D'banj lovers feel the need to hate on Durella? Him kill your pikin, steal your bread or snag your biscuit, hmm? ok, 2 questions. |
Tundewoods, you are right on all counts bar one, the song comes accross as a badly done demo. The thing is Naijapals has always had a register before listening policy. MrJuwon, I have come to respect your opinions but I am not with you this one, if you remove the name of the acts from this song, we would all say it was rubbish, Tundewoods made strongs points to back his arguement, I don't see anyone else doing the same. I mean can you compare Mobolowo won to this, Wande Coal would have done a better job. Concept ok, execution 2/10 , common lets be real. |
2gbaski baba!!! |
My guy slow down now!!! ok the performance wasnt the best but "nothing more than an average, " do you have his album? And who in you own opinion is an above average act? |
as 2gbaski said: if you dey beef mi, that one nah for your pocket!!!! |
Never thought I would be saying this, but you are right, the song is heavy, well delivered and found the right balance between English and our lingo, very well done. The vid is really cool as well. After all the noise storm as been making this is the first effort by them that I must say finally lived up to the billing. Walaitalai, pass me the lighter, Kini big deal!!! very gbaski. |
Mustay, abeg wetin you post? |
ok, let me break it to like this, Good song, nice enuf creativity. Now if you were in the UK, and did that with a south London accent, then you might have a chance of making money from it. If you are planing to use that to make money in Nigeria, well, pray and just keep praying, as that is the only chance you have. You have talent, what you lack is what a lot of acts lack, the business sense. In business there is something called bench making, when you want to make a product that already excits, you look at the other products out there that are selling and learn from the secret of their success, what u need to do is look at 9ja and find out what people really want to hear, take that to be your base and go from there. Good luck. |

I believe in keeping it simple, because when one does that you get a true perspective. At any point in time there will always be good rappers and wack ones, the same way there will always be god films and bad ones, good pop and really soul depressingly cheese pop, the fact is people pick on something they don't understand, and sadly we buy into the crap. When a lot of rap was about fighting the power, it was pick it on because it gave people a voice. When rappers realiased that they could make more money by rapping main stream, it was pick it on by people who were afraid that they were begining to make more money than ever before. To say we have to turn our backs on rap about money and bling because we don't have it is just nonesense. You don't need to have it to relate, like a good film good rap places that which you haven't seen in your lap. Question: How many people bad mouthing rap today, said anything about the spice girls, hmm? You don't need to know anything about the Mona Lisa to buy into the fact that it is an outstanding painting. It is this simple, if you enjoy a form of music, it is your responsiblity to search for that which is quaility and not bad mouth the whole act form. An act form that as brought and is still bringing so many people joy. After all anybody can sing, but there will always only going to be a few good ones, this doesn't make singing bad. |
sensible boy mactao, Song about the Gunnerz, hmm, sport meet music. Tread about the song, hmm, sport meet music, HOW? And I am sure Durella haven't been able to sing another song since, u sure must be top of your class!! |

Just when I thought common sense was dead, your responses have brought me hope, olu is worth N150million, and the guy still turns right on Virgin Nigeria, howwww!!! There is money to be made no doubt, but the list above is just as credible as all the Nigerian chart shows based on, Nothing!!! Lets support our acts by being real, if we still know how to do that. |
omo here you get the album, been asking around nobody seems to have it. Hook me up son. man mi, me I dey this queen of zanga track and he sound sound anything d'banj here oh, how u see am now, 2gbaki always! |
Where is the albummmmm ? |
Come on, we can't really equate popularity with been the best, case in point Ja Rule sold more records over all than Biggie, but can you speak of them in the same league even though we reffer to them as both rappers. Jimmy as done what everybody in the Ent Business need to realiase, and that is the talent to be good at what you are doing (dj-ing, singing e.t.c) as to be hand in hand with the talent of marketing, there is really no point having the talent, if you can't sell it. I haven't really heard him play, but he is definately the Most popular! |
Top three easy, 9ice, Gongo so (over heavy in the clubs) Durella, Shayo (too gbaski in the clubs) Do me, ( still tring in the clubs) |
Fabrenunu go dey shayo dey go none stopping, shayo go dey go, u go fear fear!!! 2gbaski, you are to Much jo!!! David Villa for the Gunnerz ? |
