PoliticsGroups Seek End To N’assembly Crises by YOURMAN(op): 10:22am On Jul 06, 2015
A pressure group, the Pan Yoruba Political Movement for Confederation, and the Ilaje community in Lagos, have urged the National Assembly members to resolve the present crises in the hallowed chambers.

They also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to probe corruption in the states and government agencies to show his commitment to a new Nigeria.

In a joint statement in Lagos on Sunday, the groups said they were worried that the crises had continued, thereby slowing down the business of governance.

A statement signed by the Director of Publicity and Strategy, James Omojuwa, urged the parties concerned to work together and solve the crises once and for all.

The statement said, “For instance, we noticed disloyalty, betrayal and insubordination among our lawmakers. There is a need to resolve the crises fairly and firmly.

“Also, the Federal Government should move across the states and government agencies and probe cases of corruption there. For instance, the Ilaje communities of Ondo State have been neglected despite huge sums of money accruing to the state from the Oil Derivation Account.

“But it is the availability of oil in Ilaje communities that qualifies Ondo State as an oil producing state. We need the President to probe what happened to the money.”

The groups added that a former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu and a former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, should be regarded as the twin leaders of the Yorubas.

Omojuwa said, “We have resolved to support Tinubu and Obasanjo and their decisions because they are the twin leaders of the Yoruba people. Nobody should ridicule them.

“Obasanjo rescued the Yoruba people from political oblivion when he became the civilian president of the fourth republic. Tinubu also contributed human and material resources to the present dispensation.”

Hey people! I don't know if this is the right section for this ..but if its not maybe the mods can help move it to the right section

After my graduation from one of the nigerian universities, I have been staying with my elder brother.. He's the second born as a lady is my parents first born.. But he's the first son.. Age of about 42+.. Before I got admission in school I do stay with him and after my university education, I went back to his place, because his house is big and spacious to contain me .. After about two to three months, I have been going to work with him I noticed something..

There is this number he usually call wen we are going back home in the car.. The way he talks to the person on phone I doubt if its a guy he's talking to.. Because the number is saved with a guys name "henry" but I do hear a ladies voice at the back of the phone.. So I'm wondering..

After my final findings I do discover thats a lady..
Now the big question is my bro got 3 grown up kids.. And a wife..
What should I do? Should I just leave him to move on or tell the wife?? To me I feel that he's still a young flexing man! Maybe he should enjoy it while it last.. Or I should just tell the wife because the wife is cool to me and nice.. What should I do..

Also Note behind.. This my bro.. I do respect and fear him so much.. I can't even dare talk about a lady with him.. As his like a dad to me! So telling me to talk to my bro is out of the solution.. So my fellow people what should I do?

PoliticsCourt Orders NDLEA, EFCC To Pay Man N2m by YOURMAN(op): 9:02am On Jul 03, 2015
A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency to pay a sum of N2m to one Lawrence Ejiofor as compensation for his prolonged and unlawful detention by the agency.

To bear the judgment debt alongside the NDLEA is the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission which the court also found culpable of having a hand in the violation of Ejiofor’s fundamental human rights.

The applicant, through his lawyer, Dr. Chima Nnaji, had approached Justice Mohammed Yunusa, seeking a declaration that his detention by the two agencies for over 30 days without trial was unlawful.

He also prayed the court to order the NDLEA to return to him a sum of $96,500 confiscated from him at the airport while returning from a trip to Tanzania.

Nnaji had told the court that his client was arrested by operatives of the NDLEA for money laundering on April 16, 2015, on the suspicion that the money found on him was a proceed of drug-trafficking.

According to Nnaji, Ejiofor was not allowed to declare the foreign currency at the Nigerian Customs Service Declaration Point, as required by law.

Instead, NDLEA officials arrested the applicant for money laundering, saying they suspected the money to be proceed of drug business.

After detaining him for over 30 days, they handed him over to the EFCC for further investigation.

When the commission found that Ejiofor was not involved in money laundering, it discharged Ejiofor but still held onto the money.

His lawyer sought a declaration that searching the applicant at the arrival tube before being able to declare the foreign currency on him was illegal as it violated his right to freedom from compulsory acquisition of moveable property, as guaranteed under Section 44 of the 1999 Constitution.

He prayed the court to hold that the continued seizure of the $96,500 for several months was unconstitutional.

Ejiofor sought N20m as compensation for his unlawful detention from April 16 to May 16, 2014.

NDLEA had argued that the applicant’s arrest was lawful “given the suspicious manner he conducted himself on arrival at the airport from Tanzania.”
