They steal our money (shareholders'shares, depositors' interests and hidden costs) and use it to send a boy abroad for better education (western) and we suffer here in Nigeria. Imagine from 2005 Sept to 2008 June, he is done with BSC Mechanical Engr. His mates here, are still battling with fake NECO and WAEC and ASUU strikes, Admission palaver.

Why are people not keeping their wards and children here in Nigeria for proper monitoring? Birds messed up ground and fly to perch in the air.Yaradua is still away!
WTF does this have to do with anything?

londoner:
I say well done to his father for reporting him and alerting authorities, if they had taken proper notice, he would not have been able to board a plane and set himself on fire in a suicide attempt. It was the ineptitude of the authorities which allowed the situation to reach such a level. The same way they were warned about 9/11 I believe.

Many Nigerian parents would not report their children to authorities, especially where religion is an issue. I doubt his upbringing led him to this in any direct way, because he distanced himself from his family. He knew they would disapprove and he knew he was taking a detour from what he was brought up to do.  Its likely, was indoctrinated by others, just as is the case with the many fanatics who blow themselves up in the name of religion.
Vert true and well said.

Going by d write up,d parents should not be blame at all! They did what their part very well, both in sending their ward 2 school and in ensuring that they provide 4him and still keep in touch! How many parents will do that? D highest they will do is 2send their ward and allow him fend 4himself,whatever he does 2survive is out of d question. Now,dis same parents having noticed a change in his attitude went 2give a report 2some security agencies demanding dboy's deportation! If its u, would u do it 2ur child after spending so much on him? Left 4me, i will allow him and give him more time, hoping that things will turn out 2b better. Delay, they say is dangerous! D family needs 2b applauded, joo!
Very true.
People are just looking to rundown the rich father.
You spend all your time here on Nairaland giving opinion should we blame YourMum for that??

PoliticsRe: Northwest Flight 253 Leg-bomber Is Son Of Dr.umaru Abdul Muttalab, by YourMum: 9:45pm On Dec 26, 2009
I am a Christian an I think this talk of Islam being a supporter of terrorism is all rubbish!!! The people who do these things are EXTREMISTS not Muslims. They have interpreted their Holy Book in a very negative way, one which does not follow the normal path of Muslim faith. Never generalise.

I wish peace to all my Muslim and Christian brothers
PoliticsRe: Northwest Flight 253 Leg-bomber Is Son Of Dr.umaru Abdul Muttalab, by YourMum: 9:37pm On Dec 26, 2009
I feel so sorry for the father and his family. . .  work so hard to get somewhere in life and your own son comes along and attempts to destroy you,
I mean this guy sent his son to UCL, one of the best schools in the WORLD. . . and the boy went astray, listening to extremist views.
It obvious that the boy lost his mind along the way, have you ever seen someone with so much potential destroy his entire future so stupidly?
My hope is that the family get over the loss of their son to undesirable elements in our world and that the boy is placed in jail soonest.

As a Christian with many, many Muslim friends and loved ones, I myself can confidently say that this boy was led astray by the extremists, not Muslim views. He was pulled to extremist views and diverted from normal Muslim ways of life. My heart goes out to those in the plane on the day and their families, as well as the boys family, as they had done everything they could to provide a good life for their child but he was pulled by evil minds. How very sad.
PropertiesRe: Fashola Stops Building Of New Houses In Lagos by YourMum: 1:56pm On Dec 22, 2009
Unfortunately, the taxes seem to be making up for years of neglect on that front.
Although the money is necessary, these taxes are really through the roof.
Well these things must be done in order to ensure progress. Harsh, very harsh but unfortunately necessary.
Politics1999-2009. A Decade Of Growth? by YourMum(op): 1:46pm On Dec 22, 2009
Comparing Nigeria today with a decade ago, I definitely see progress.

The private sector is definitely growing rapidly, with sectors such as banking and telecoms clearly taking the lead. All that seems to be lacking is healthy governmental participation. In some quarters though, the government is taking the initiative, such as the state government of Lagos, revamping the physical infrastructure in the state, providing affordable, efficient transport systems.
But even without the leadership controlling resources, some have still proven efficient in regulating these booming sectors.
Nigeria's only major problem is electricity. That is all that hinders this 150 million man nation from rapid industrial development. Perhaps after that is solved, we will turn towards agriculture to ensure a balance in our international trade, especially regarding Western interests who get the bulk of Nigerian resources for relatively nothing.

At this pace, in another 10 years, I see that Nigeria successfully tackling the a number of problems we see today. Ten years may seem like a long time but coming from a 40 year past of gross mismanagement of resources and numerous dictatorships, I see a nation that is prepared now more than ever in its history.

So what do you see different in these past years, especially regarding private sector growth?
