Hello, so I just thought of giving those preparing for GRE an advice..its not okay to just be preparing for GRE alone and not do INTENSIVE research and shortlist schools you will want to apply to so that you can send your scores to them on the test date for free. Dont waste those '4 free' slots to send scores on the test date like I did, this will save you cash. I remember I did research and shortlisted schools I will like to apply to but it wasnt intensive enough. it was after I had taken GRE I realised I can/wont apply to thoses schools due to one preference, reason etc. so inshort I ended up not applying to any of the 4 schools I sent my scores to and I am sure you know the implication (had to send to the schools I applied to at a cost, and dollar Naira exchange rate no be beans). Merry Christmas and happy New year in advance. Special shout out to sirriddy ..thank you brother for the year..i owe you
copy that. On point. Of the 4 schls I chose that day, I'm presently only interested in one. My new options has now cost me

took GRE at JKK yesterday. V152 : Q149, Agg:301. Though, it could have been better, but no more time for preparation. thankful to God it isn't bad and i can advance to the next stage. GRE humbled people yesterday at JKK ehn that some refused to leave the centre. So pathetic.
as in ehhh. Almost like it's getting harder. I had same score as you. Congrats. Good luck with admission and funding

not necessarily topic related but would help..... Couldn't get a December date for toefl but contacted the schs I intend to apply (2 in US and 1 in Canada). found out that toefl is waived in 1 of the US sch and the Canada sch for accredited Nigerian universities. They assured me to complete the registration without toefl. For funding it's best you complete your registration before the year runs outs (my opinion). any other opinion is welcomed. I also want to learn more
which are you applying for in the states, I'm looking for schls offering mechanical engrng, with Atleast partial funding available. Suggestions will be welcomed

Hello house, sorry I haven't been able to recount my exam day experience. Have been abit busy. Well here goes.

You can only do as well in the GRE as u do in the practice question. It's really no flunk. If u score 280 in powerprep then you could most likely score 280 in the real thing.

I couldn't sleep through the night preceding the GRE day, I kept thinking how the cookie would crumble, if I flunk the GRE. I also decided not to study further so as to keep things simple. Exam day I got to my centre early, fine gals everywhere, felt like all the fine gals in abj are all moving to the US. We Gilles out the necessary forms, and waived our rights to ***. I was still be registered in the hall when I heard keyboard typing away, and shunks angry meaning these people that got registered before already hitting their essays, I was shocked because I was hoping we did all start same time.

Well, I settled down after the initial scare, did my essays in good time, then drove into the verbal session, hmmmm guys Wetin I see ehh, questions hard like Wetin. I say ok maybe na experimental session. I enter quant, it was even tougher. I say ok it's better for this quant is to experimental. Apparently I went through all my sessions and the all felt foreign. Bros GRE no be beans. I prepared in 1 mnth and 2 weeks. I wasn't ready, needed more time. Please if u are not very comfortable in the practice tests in magoosh or powerprep, don't register for the GRE yet. Somehow those test especially the hard sessions are a true mirror of the real thing.

Verb-151
Quant- 150

I could have done better, If I had more time to prepare. Cherios and good luck

deenee: It amazes me when people are invited for recruitment test and they come on nairaland asking people to help them. It speaks volumes. If I applied for any job opening that requires me taking a test, I would prepare in advance for the test irrespective the time-line for the test invite because no knowledge is lost.

Also, I have a dim view of people that act along this line because it simply shows that they are already used to this "hand me all the answers mentality" which is typical of most graduates.

First and foremost, simple logic connotes that most tests are conducted electronically these days except in some few instances, so the ideal is to master the intrigues of a computer based test like timing, structure of the questions etc.

Secondly, if you have applied for a specialist role, the employer is most likely to ask you questions based on your area of specialism and job application. There could also include questions on general management, politics etc just to ascertain if the potential conadiate is well rounded. It is amazing when people just rush online and ask as if they want the test question and answers to be handed to them in advance. The question is: why apply for the job in the first place if you know that you are not capable of handling the rigours of the recruitment process?

Just my two cents!

God bless Nigeria!
If we have more graduates thinking like you, maybe our country and its economy wouldnt be so bad.

I doubt if anyone in fct has gotten any result alert. Tired of waiting, nobody needs their stipend, just success mail.shekina grin

AyoShonubi: Will they ever call us for interview. I'm beginning to forget i passed an exam in Diamond Bank. And with this long list of people still waiting from March, June and October. Will it ever get to the December turn this year. I was so optimistic. But now my hopes are deflated. At least let them call us for interview then i'll look 4 anoda job b4 they find time to put us in training school. At least there should be a stipulated time table so we would knw how to plan.
just hang in there, mate. You can explore other options, if you have any. DB will come around

Neoviper147: Dear world,
Dear Joblessness

You win, I can't take it any longer, and I know you have been waiting for this to happen. I hope it makes you very happy, this is not an easy thing to do, but I've got to the point where there is nothing to live for, graduated for 3 years and still no job, no love. All will and determination to fight on has left me. I feel calm and at peace and grateful that I can go to sleep painlessly. I feel justified in terminating a life which no longer holds any hope of having the essentials which make it worth living. I did desperately want to get a good job, have a beautiful wife, bring forth wonderful kids and love mankind. But now, I am defeated and exhausted emotionally by the situation of my Country, Nigeria.

To my Unborn child: My love for you would have had no limits, I grief that I could not meet you but try to understand that your birth would have made my life worse, life is too corrupt, seeing vision of a broken man. So, with my passing, all menace to your well-being has disappeared. Forgive me for the many mistakes I have made. Now that it is all said I feel at peace.

To my friends: Try not to grieve. I ask all of you, my dear ones, not to mourn my passing. Be glad I am at least free from the misery of the joblessness and intimidation and oppression. I have endured for so long and that at last I'll have peace and rest...This is no way to live either is it any way to die. I'm going to put myself to sleep now for a bit longer than usual. Call the time eternity.

Goodbye, cruel world

Goodbye, God forsaken Nigeria

Goodbye, cruel destiny

You won.

I pray the Lord my soul to take. Amen. cry cry cry
