There is no official timeframe. Nigeria can be remove permanently today , or as soon as our government is ready to abide with the western agreement of security of lives and properties of all citizens and residents, and the readiness to fully team up with the United States in the total eliminatiion of terrorrists. Wow, and people are saying that it gets reviewed every 6 months. Thanks sir. |

Any visa applicant from the affected countries, who think he or she can run to any of The 5 - Eyes nation ( U.S.A, Canada, Australia, Newzealand & the UK) will definitely face the same visa debacle, because these countries are the world's strongest information sharing partners. If the U.S embassy has flaged you as a potential terrorist, then you are going no where into any of the 5 - Eyes.
As per Nigeria, the United States is only trying to force our leaders to do the needful regarding the security of lives of the citizens and others. This can be attest to in the recently joint-force (U.S Airforce & Nigerian forces) strike against Boko Haram and ISIS West Africa ( ISWAP).
In this respect, the temporary visa ban is going to be short lived , and those with ongoing visa or admission application process should continue with wisdom, and not yield to negative outlook.
Happy New Year 😎 I just hope Trump will remove Nigeria from the banned list by June. I heard that it is always reviewed every 180 days. |

Thanks. oselin1988@gmail.com I haven't contacted any of the schools I applied to. I want them to reach out first. They might wanna suggest that they will defer my admission to spring 2027 (Jan). |

Ose2988: This was what was sent to me from Kent State
We are writing to inform you of a recent update to U.S. immigration policy that may affect some members of our campus community.
On December 16, 2025, a new U.S. presidential proclamation was issued expanding entry and visa restrictions to citizens of additional countries. New visa restrictions will be effective beginning January 1, 2026, and citizens of additional countries will no longer be eligible for certain visas. Some of the countries are designated as a total ban, meaning that no new visas will be issued, and some are subject to a partial ban, meaning that only certain kinds of visas are affected. However, because citizens from countries with either designation will not be granted either a student (F-1) visa or exchange visitor (J-1) visa, we have combined the newly affected countries into a single list.
Angola Antigua and Barbuda Benin Burkina Faso Cote d’Ivoire Dominica Gabon The Gambia Malawi Mali Mauritania Niger Nigeria Palestinian-Authority-issued travel documents Senegal South Sudan Syria Tanzania Tonga Zambia Zimbabwe Our understanding is that this ban is applicable only to nationals of these countries who are outside the U.S. and without a valid visa as of January 1, 2026. Individuals who are inside the United States on January 1, 2026, or who are outside the United States on that date but have a visa that is valid as of January 1, 2026, would likely not be covered by the ban.
If you are a citizen of one of the affected countries, these changes may impact future visa applications or travel plans.
We will continue to monitor the situation and update you as more details become available.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions!
Sincerely,
International Admissions Kent State University Let's be positive. I'm sad, I'm just using the remaining energy in me to send cold emails to Canadian schools. I wanna get a supervisor first. |

JohnZak: I suggest you take a step back and focus on the things that you can control. Stressing out about things that you can't control will not move the needle even one bit. No university is going to stop reviewing applications for students from certain countries because that country is on a "banned" or "restricted" list. Their international office can share the information from the WH with students from these countries so that they are aware but they won't stop reviewing any application because of it. It might even be illegal to do so because they are not supposed to take any action (adverse or favorable) based solely on race, gender, "national origin", religion, etc.
It is even possible/likely that these restrictions may be eased in a few months. The U.S. embassy and consulate in Nigeria generates a lot of money for the US government, especially with B1/B2, F1, and J visas. In the meantime, you can look at universities in other countries like it seems you are doing. Good luck! Thanks so much for this. I'm on my Erasmus Mundus applications already. |

Vanjori: My brother, if you need someone to talk to,you can email me.
Here is what my supervisor told me, he said I should still submit my application and wait. The school can still give you admission into your program if you qualify but if the visa ban is not lifted, you will need to defer the admission to the next semester.
This means that if the visa ban is not lifted before the semester you intend to study (fall 2026), you are to defer to spring 2027.
Note that most school call only allow differing once.
At this point everyone should just encourage themselves. Ok, I grab. I just sent an email. Please let's connect on WhatsApp. |

😎 What a funny dude.
Where ever you read that they wont bother to read or process Nigerians admission please run away from that source because they are misleading and brainwashing people.
Tell your people of like mind to not worry, otherwise that means all of you are like puppets that can easily be confused and pushed into pitfall.
You can survive in any environment, you just have to create the surviival instincts. Maintain your best choice and first option. Dont settle for less. It is well. I actually understand you sir. I'm optimistic! Thanks sir. |

Dont be depressed because nothing has happened to your dream. Pls dont commit suicide and dont cancel your plan. You are only displaying a self-inflicted trauma, so talk to a counselor , imam or your church pastor.. All my applications are currently under review before the restriction. I read that it means they won't even bother to go through Nigerians admission documents, it's automatic rejection because of the VISA issue. The people of like minds that I can talk to are currently processing admission too and we are all worried. My environment? Those people aren't even approachable, their mentality is somehow. Just an environment full of yahoo boys and runs girls. Thanks so much sir. I have started 5 Erasmus Mundus Scholarship application already. But US is my best choice and first option. |

Somebody is giving his girlfriend, joy giver, gist partner & Konji reliever 25K monthly. You're here complaining. Is your brain paining you ni?
It's a well known fact that everyone has that one thing (habit) that gives them joy, for him, it's probably companionship & knacking. How's that not something to invest in? Some invest theirs in shayo, some in bet9ja, some in one form of gambling or another. It's called doing whatever makes one happy.
Realistically speaking, 25K is less than 1K per day. Imagine the quality knack our guyman is getting. If the babe come fine, get big brezz join. Mehn! Bros, don make am for life.
In conclusion, nobody has the right to teach other people how to live. Live and let others live.
Meanwhile, nobody should quote me to yarn okpata o. I'm having a headache in my stomach please.
