It is obvious that he is not an illiterate like his counterpart in my state. From this video, he read well but encountered words he had not been exposed to before then. The topic of presentation was probably not related to his field. However, he should have practiced it before the event.

I hate his party but he shouldn't be crucified for mispronouncing unfamiliar jargons.
Nah only you get common sense for this place and I'm glad for it.

Lol
That's a story, Yvngex

It is a process. It wasn't about talking nicely or how to talk, what to say BUT it's about WHY did I need to talk to people nicely or WHY did I need to know how to talk to people?

The Why behind an action is important, because it's comes with the will to act

See it this way...I'll use addiction to try explain what I'm hinting at

Addicts try to escape addiction by doing cold showers, press-up when the urge comes, changing environmentand all other type of activities
But this is the question that put things in perspective:

If I were to give that same addict a bottle of a poisonous substance to drink, would they put themselves through all those activities to resist the urge to drink sniper?!

No! They won't. And this is me assuming that addict value their life, you know.

Those who genuinely value life and want to live long don't do cold showers therapy or press-ups or other type of activities, just to resist the urge to drink sniper?

Why? Because they value their life and genuinely want to live long
This reason behind their 'Why' was so strong enough that it came with a follow-come WILL

Once I understood that the value of my words and how I can uplift a persons life or bring them down, that was my first realization.

I understood that my words to a person could either bring them out of their depression or drive them to commit suicide, and when the bible said "thou shall not kill" it didn't mean with swords and bombs, it also meant with words: driving a human being to depression by talking to them in dehumanizing ways. I DIDN'T WANT TO BE A MURDERER! There...! That's reason number 1 for all readers, I guess. I rather use my words to uplift and inspire people, you know wink

Secondly, I understood that the ability to talk is a priviledge...not given to many. If I don't want to be born dumb or mute in my next life, I better be smart enough to know how to use my mouth....

These amongst other reasons smiley
Feel free to hit me up with your questions
Okay, I understand better now. I believe this way of reasoning should also be applied to every aspect of our lives.

Yes. I'm your guy for communication. I'm urrrgghhh... effortless flow and chills

But seriously, communication is an effect and not a cause.

When you see communication as a cause, you'll think reading books and pick-up lines will make you a better communicator...lolzz. With that, you'll fail to carry last.

But when you begin to see communication as an effect of understanding your needs and desires and that of your communicatee, and taking the risk to be vulnerable with them to the right people, Don Juan, Neil Strauss, Mystery, Rollo...all will dwarf in comparison to you

Sleep naturally happens at night. But that doesn't mean that you can't sleep in the afternoon or in the morning. It's just that night time naturally comes with that feeling of wanting to sleep and its arguably enjoyable around that time.

I read books...I was on harddon thread years ago trying to cram pickup lines. I also read song of Solomon in the Bible to woo a girl in Secondly school...those time of writing love letters on paper grin
It didn't work shii. I later became a misogynist angrytrying to punish girls for my failure by reading ubunjas thread grin
Lol. I was the man then...or so I thought. I was so depressed and repulsive to girls lol...

I didn't even know why I was doing it then. It was mechanical and with great effort. The love in me wanted to effortlessly come out but I created a shield around myself with pride...because of what?

I had to understand a lot to come out of that hole, and it's not like I'm at any ceiling yet.

One love, nairaland. smiley

I hope my posts and threads here help.
Nice read but I'm curious to know how you got better in communicating 🤔

Fathers should please bring up their sons properly and stop the gaslighting of the mothers. Only a father can train his son properly. Instead of watching football on Saturdays, use that time to bond with your sons if you are not often around during the week.

A father should also give partial training to the daughters on how a man is supposed to treat them right. Take your daughters out on dates and show them how a potential partner is supposed to behave if they come calling.
Though you made some valid points, you still don't want to be accountable for the silly way you women bond with your children which makes them become terrible adult. Always raise your children the way they ought to be raised and not the way they want.

lovediehatelive:
What I can say is that it depends on the situation.

This is the difference between reading the book and living it out. Sometimes you overlook it, other times you call her out.

For instance if you tell her you don't like her placing an object on the Fridge, she'll definitely do it over and over to test you.

In such kind of situation you can overlook it at times or lightly call her out.

Then there are some things you don't overlook and always call her out. Let's say you let her know that you don't like her dancing seductively on the internet for likes and all. If she does that you shouldn't overlook it. Or something like she starts putting leg chains knowing that you don't like such.

These are just examples, the main thing is about what she's testing you on. If it's not a major deal breaker you can overlook it and sometimes act enraged over it. This way you become unpredictable.

However if it's a major deal breaker, call her out immediately you find out. If she still instist don't even argue with her, just cut off.

Just my opinion though
so you are saying we should continue to overlook the bad habits she intentionally exhibit just because I want to be unpredictable? Please make me understand better.

You don’t inherit habits—you form them till it becomes part of you. There’s no such thing as inheriting a bad habit from your parents. Every person is unique, so if you have a habit you want to change, focus on improving yourself and stop blaming “inheritance.”

2022 was the year I started making some real cash for myself. I stayed afloat for many months, living the life, and I truly thought life was all roses. Then, in mid-2023, everything that once brought me joy while the money was coming suddenly turned bitter—and that was it. I’m forever grateful for the life lessons I learned in those years, and for how I found myself and my purpose. I’m still not where I want to be, but I’m grateful to the source that created life for helping me grow.

TravelRe: 10 Things You Should Know About Enugu by Yvngex(m): 2:46pm On May 16
Rapmoney:
I spent about 10 years working in Enugu as a project manager in the education sector, and during my 10 year-professional journey, I learnt certain things about the town. This can help you towards planning if you want to relocate to Enugu.

1. Traffic Laws: Traffic laws are very strict in Enugu. You dare not park your car by the side on a major road. You dare not beat traffic lights positioned in almost all parts of the town. If you do, your vehicle will be towed to MOT office or you pay huge fines. Dem nor dey hear 'Abeg'.

2. Relaxed Attitude: The people have a relaxed attitude. They don't rush when doing things. It is common for people to sit in a town-service bus for more than 30 minutes in Enugu, waiting for passengers to fill the bus. My first year in Enugu was uncomfortable because it is something different from what I was used to in Warri. You do not see people rushing to work in the morning, even bankers. Everyone seems to do it slow slow.

3. Peacefulness: Enugu is one of the most peaceful towns in Nigeria. During my 10-year stay, I did not hear or witness any inter-communal clash or anything similar. In fact, I really did not see anyone fighting publicly, except verbal clashes (quarrelling) on few occasions.

4. The Women: Enugu has the most beautiful women in Nigeria. It is only closely followed by Owerri. Out of every 10 young women you see, 6 would be pretty, and the rest might actually look presentable. My neck and my head had a quarrel the first day I landed in Enugu. My neck said my head was stressing it too much, because of the constant turning and looking. As a man, you need to be focused or else, you will get distracted if you allow the beauty of the women to overwhelm you.

5. Enugu is an 'Oringo' Town: You must have heard the singer, Flavour called Enugu 'Oringo' in some of his songs. Oringo is a slang in southeast Nigeria which means 'party'. Enugu is a place where more money is spent than it is made. From Cubana to Toscana, from Trans-Ekulu to Abakpa, from GRA to Independence Layout, from Agbani to Obiagu, it is all about Oringo. Forget it. Enugu is the only place you can see beer parlours and bars opened from morning till night, with people drinking during working hours on weekdays. About 60% of alcohol in southeast is consumed in Enugu.

6. Okpa and Pepsi: In Enugu, they don't joke with Okpa and Pepsi. Okpa is a local food made from Bambara beans. N500 Okpa and one chilled Pepsi will go a long way for the average man on the street. Don't play.

7. Beware of Abakpa at Night: Abakpa is the largest area in Enugu town. It is owned by the Nike people of Enugu-East LGA. It is a place where you find the good, the bad, and the ugly. They are called Abakpa Ndi Nti Ike for a reason. When interpreted in English, it means the set of people that are stubborn and do not heed to advice. Abakpa is a place you can get the cheapest accommodation in Enugu if you are a beginner. It is also a place you need to be careful and mind your business. Nor dey waka waka for inside Abakpa for night, or else boys wey nor get joy go help you keep your property for you.

8. Choice Areas to Live: If you are financially buoyant, the best places to stay in Enugu with good security and road networks, beautiful environment, and magnificent buildings are Trans-Ekulu, Independence Layout, and GRA.

9. Water Issues: Enugu is a hilly place. It is good for hikers, but one issue that the town usually face is water shortage due to the topography. I hope the current governor, Barrister Peter Ndubuisi Mbah will address that soon.

10. Always Cook at Home on Sundays: If you are a bachelor or spinster, make sure you get ingredients on Saturday to cook on Sunday, else na hunger go kpai you. Enugu people don't joke with Sunday relaxation and outing. No matter the profits their business is generating, they don't sacrifice their Sundays for anything. Most shops and restaurants are closed. Even shops where the owners live in same building.

I am not from Enugu State. I am from Niger Delta, so this post has been written with an unbiased view.

Happy weekend everyone!

MTN and DSTV are businesses. They cannot be held responsible for what ordinary South Africans do. If you build a great business in Ghana, do you want it destroyed when some Nigerians over there attack and kill some Ghanaians?

Looks like you didn't hear were Oshiomhole said the president of SA is a major shareholder in MTN and it was only after he (Oshiomhole) called them out that the SA president condemned the killing in his country.
