Recently, there was a letter sent to top management of Access Bank on the ill treatment metted on contract staff. The discrmination was jus too much and besides that, it almost imposible to climb the ladder to the top. Meaning no future both in remuneration and condition of service too. Anyway, wishin all that had gone for interview success.

@Travelista, thank u for making ur point and stance clearly. I understand that even if it is true to say that corruption and cutting corners to make ends meet has become acceptable in our society. Many of us graduates still need to be sensitised on how things work. Your contributions were brilliant, u cld passoff for an HR manager, but it came at a time emotions were high. I quite agree with u that employers will and never will be ur friends. It sounded pretty harsh and to say coming from a lady, women are known for their sympathetic feelings towards situations I suspect u are a management staff where ever u wrk"only a guess". Hmmmm I feel u come from the Eastern part of this country, reason being that u carry this aura of confidence not necessary because u r a professional in what u do to like an EGO! Like a true career lady. Anyway, it was quite interesting having this timeout to share reasoning. Cheers!

@Travelista, I enjoyed every piece of ur responses to those aggrevied by the topic in contention. Yes! U hv made it clear to everyone on this thread that u r more logical than anyone. But nid I say to u that u only reason like a lawyer and for ur enlightenment, morality is of the society and the law is based on what u can proof. So u can see that u are only guided by what u have studied. The firm in question ACCESS BANK has failed in its corporate and social responsibility in keeping a clean slate jus as their rebranding mission statement has it. U responded to one of the text saying one being in a position doesn't mean u r better than anyone else who is still jobless! Do u feel u r better than anyone else out there not in the position u r today or do u fink u hv wrked so hard than anyone else to be there? My guess is u wld say NO!u r not better. In nigeria today, graduates are only informed of their salary after collecting their letter of employment, in an ideal situation that is wrong. The labour law allows for work done to commiserate with efforts used as long as there is an undastanding of agreement/contract. Do u knw that some outsourcing firms are owned by the banks themselves? Take ACCESS BANK and ICS that does recruitment for ACCESS BANK is runned by a board chairmans wife. Don't make it sound as if its a favour to be employed, u being called late at night shld not be a yardstick to measure who is a professional or supporting staff. You r not a Doctor that has made an oat to save life at any time of the day, so u hv the luxury of switching off ur phone once its late at night, average nigerian see lawyers jus as dey see a policeman. They r all not on the side of justice and are so Dogmatic, the law as u worship sometimes looses its validity in face of common morality. Are lawyers trained by vampires or zombies that death means nufting to them? Your staffs had accident in the line of duty, u were quick to call for replacement and didn't bother to sympatise with staffs and families of the deceast yet u preach u owe a duty to ur staffs and customers welfare. Yes! Like u rightly said their death shld not stop the business of the day to go on, but u as a lawyer failed to peruse thru the writers text that stated "only friends and colleagues not appointed to visit onbehalf of the bank came on their own to pay their last respect to their colleagues. Only this singular act can kill the morales of diligent staffs knwing dat their death and years of service may not mean anything to their employer. I am not blaming u as a person but because u speak as a lawyer, but we shld be able to seperate morality from the law, cos even u a defender of the law can be a victim of the law. If u ask me today I wld say incentives and upgrade/promotion is a motivational factor to productivity, if the Army as an institution that has the tenents of obey before complain recognises hardwork and promotion as a motivational actor. Then it is right to say it is wicked not to imbibe that in the corporate world, the corporate world in Nigeria is about to withness a revolution soon as insourcing and outsourcing will soon meet its doom in no time. Graduates are becoming bold and blunt as the day goes by, before I rest my case, I would advice u manage your professional life away from ur personal life. You may want call a spade a spade, but be humane ma broda, slavery is slavery forget anything like Business is business. Cheers!

@Kepstone, the first thing u nid to do is get info. Abt the firm like what dey do and secondly the job describtion of the position u applied for. Thirdly, prepare for questions like "tell us abt ursef", what r ur strenghts and weaknesses, how much do u want to be paid. Then make sure u r well dressed corporately I mean, possibly a suit and a tie or simply a shirt and pant trouser with a tie. Most importantly be confident as u speak to ur interviewer(s). May God almighy see us all thru! Wishing the best in ur interview.

@Claremont@Bigiyaro, how can u compare the British and American Army with the Nigerian Army. In the British Army People are Trained general and With specifics on Area of specialization. But not withstanding they can perform when called upon as normal soldiers. If u r good at engineering,medical,teaching/instructor,driver/supply & Transport,intelligence etc that is how u will be trained in handling the Army technology available to u on the field. There is no room for discrimination, as u may have seen even women are assigned to dangerous places like Afganistan and Iraq cos they are combantantly trained to do so. In Nigeria, otherwise is the case. There is always room for discrimination and fear of liabilities, everyone is trained the same and posted to places beyound their imagination as such some are underutilised for purposes they are better known for. But not in all cases, there is alittle rationality in the NDA (Nigeria Defence Academy) when it comes to posting to the Arms of the Military I.e ARMY, NAVY, AIRFORCE. The British American Army can be on contract terms after wch u can voluntarily disengage to the civil based on the years u want to serve. That is one thing u can't do in the Nigerian Army, u serve for years or even unfortunately many die inthe process of serving for several years. So u cannot compare them atall!

@All, jus as DOTTMON said it is generally believed that those with flat foot find it difficult as to standing upright for hours. And I must say the Army does more parade than any other military arms, I have withness cases were soldiers drop down while on the parade line up. If any of u can visit any Army passing out parade or ceremonies and u will see how long they remain standing on the parade. And if I must say why ur friend has flat foot and he is in the navy is simply because things have ova time changed and besides that, people cut corners to training without going thru screening.

@Blazermaks, oh! The truth is bitter abi. Even when u were left behind u didn't see anything wrong with that. This is a clear case of calling the cow an uncle b'cos u must eat meat. The whole idea of nairaland has been defeated if we all reason like dis.

@All, GEJ is a leader without any idea of the country he is dealing with. How can an academics of his type cannot manage the affairs of Nigeria. Many of us fail to accept the simple fact that GEJ over time is expected to have garnered experiences from the various political offices he held to this moment as president. Suffix to say he is doing a professional course,is this how he will keep fumbling and messing up his career or rather was he given his doctorate as a resilt of his much eulogy of and i qoute 'GOODLUCK' or was it mere hard work? GEJ hardly comports himself as president, he doesn't carry that Aura,charisma or confidence a president carries. You must always see him as if he is in a panic situation. Yes! Being the president of the most populous black nation is no doubt tasking, but nigeria is not as big as America and yet Obama still handles himself with precision and focus. The PDP as a party has never hard it so bad until now, he could not even handle party issues talk more of Nigeria. It is a pity that many of us do not see afar, but only dwell in ignorance, tribal and religious sentiments. If our leaders in past memorial didn't get it right and we are still in that trail today then we can never get it right, I can't help but ponder if my brothers in the North after all this years in power and all is not well with me and yet am still in the same situation with my brothers from the south south. Then I should know that irrespective of where am from my future is still bleek. Not because Babangida or Yar Adua didn't get it right that I Aleimeseigh shld not make it right. With what I see today, I have zero believe that Nigeria will ever be better collectively rather let' s continue hustling along to whereever better it can take us to individually. Collectively is unrealizable. We shld knw that if others from the north didn't do well then the south shld prove it self to Nigerians and see if even the north doesn't vote GEJ 2015. If we continue to accept it that the North spoilt everything and the south shld continue to do the same since is their time, I am affraid there is no future or hope for a collective Nigerian Development.

@Gboliwe, go and read victosin09 and avictomama thread. Then u will understand that it takes a lot of hardwork before seeking Gods intervention. Instead of u play hating on this thread,why u sound funny is simply the fact that u refuse to learn and on that note is why u behave like this. U r hear complaining, wen u jus passed out this year, I wonda wat odas of several years wld do. Better learn to upgrade ursef like u hv been advice and stop whinning.
