1. Eating Avocados Can Lower Your Cholesterol Level Avocados reduce cholesterol levels significantly. They contain 25 milligrams per ounce of beta-sitosterol which help maintain healthy cholesterol levels. 2. Avocados Can Protect Your Eyes Avocados are high in carotenoids, lutein and zeaxanthin, which are important for eye health. They reduce the risk of cataracts and macular degeneration. Therefore, eating avocados protects the eye from bad vision. 3. Stroke Prevention The high levels of folate in avocado help prevent strokes. My church started our 21 days fast on Monday and I decided to join the new year fast. This is my first fast and IT IS NOT EASY!!! For people who are not aware of what a fast is, I would explain it very simple. Fasting is a time when you abstain from eating food ( it depends on the type of fasting) and pray ,it connects you to God. This 21 days fast I take just fluids till I break the fast. 1) Tea: I don't add sugar, milk or any or any other sweetener. I just drink it plain. 2)Water: 3) Juice These are what I am taking currently as I undergo my fast. https://pinchofchel./2018/01/10/help-what-should-i-eat-during-a-fast/ What do you take during your fasting period??

I learnt something new yesterday, thanks to my roommate. Did you know that the non -alcoholic version of cocktails are called 'Mocktails' ? Yep, you are not the only one who did not know . There is no better way to feel the Christmas and New Years vibe than these easy to follow mocktail recipes. Note: It is best to use discretion when preparing your mocktail so let your quantity of ingrediets be based on the number of people you are serving. 1)Sunny Fizz Mocktail Ingredients: Orange juice, Zobo syrup, Lemonade, Ice cubes, Slices of orange or lemon/lime. Method: a) Combine the orange juice and lemonade together in a jug and mix. b) Place ice cubes in the glass and pour the mixed juice into the glass. c)Next, gently add the zobo syrup via the side of the glass. This would settle at the bottom of the glass. 2. Watermelon Mocktail Watermelon is definitely one of my favourite fruits. I recently learnt that watermelon is a low calorie fruit, so you should try to incorporate watermelon more often to your meals. There is nothing as annoying as unripe watermelon so knock/ tap the fruit to check for its’ hollowness. If it sounds hollow, it is ripe. Ingredients: 6 watermelon, 1/2 cup of water, 2 teaspoons of Ribena, 1/2 teaspoon of sugar for syrup, lemon slices, 2 teaspoons of Alomo bitters and Ice cubes. Method: a) Blend the water melon with 1/4 cup of water. Form your syrup by mixing sugar with warm water. b)Add the sugar mix to the watermelon juice, add alomo bitters and Ribena. c)Rub the lemon slices around the glass rim and rub the glass in sprinkles or sugar for garnishing. d)Pour some ice cubes in your glass and pour the watermelon juice and serve cold. 3. Zobo Chapman: Zobo has several uses, but it is widely known in Nigeria for the traditional Zobo drink. Research showed that it could also be used to cook traditional Nigerian soups like Ishapa and Margi Special but it’s the white variety that would be used when preparing these soups. Ingredients: 3 tablespoons of Zobo syrup, 1 cup of Fanta, 1 cup of 7up or Sprite, 2 tablespoons of Lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of Alomo bitters and Ice cubes. Method: a)Pour your Zobo syrup in a glass b)Pour in your Fanta, Lemon juice and 7Up. Stir till all liquids are well combined. c)Add your Alomo bitters and stir as well. d)Add ice-cubes and a slice of lemon or cucumber and serve cool. 4. Cuddles on the Beach: This is the mocktail version of Sex on the Beach. Vodka is removed and the peach schnapps is replaced with peach nectar. I am writing about pain. The pain few girls have had to experience every month. The type of pain I've felt one too many times that has made me feel like ripping out my uterus and saying enough is enough. The pain that has made me talk to my aunt who is a nurse about tying my Fallopian tube (mind I say she told me "that's a white woman thing,we Nigerians have juju following us and have children to bear so it can't be an option". The pain that has caused me to read several articles about what to stop eating(which includes everything I obviously like) The pain that once made me think of having children now now now because I read that immediately you have children the pain stops. She was the most excruciating of pains Ah! Thank God she just lasts for 4 days Always accompanied with her siblings; Fever, Vomiting and Diarrhoea Walking to the restroom So impossible My legs have failed me Hated it! I'm better off if I could just sleep For just a little while I forget Till I awake again Sleep is the perfect anesthesia I can count on my twin to understand We endure the same pain The rest do not understand When alone, They discuss me with their subconcious I look weak to them They don't say it But I know How would you endure labour pain I read the words from their eyes Idip ubiak enye anam afo udiagha mkpo? My concerned mom always asks This is my experience with period cramps. Visit https://pinchofchel./2017/12/11/dysmenorrhea/

So I made a post on food to avoid on a first date https://www.nairaland.com/4196643/food-avoid-first-date Still wondering on what to eat on a first date. Here's a thread for you. A friend of mine all disappointed walked up to me saying “Mma blogger shei you wrote about what people shouldn’t have on a first date better write about what people can also have” because she got all dressed up ready for a date just to have Bread and Zobo drink. This got me thinking on what someone could possibly have on a first date which led me asking people for their opinions and I kid you not I got replies like Starch and Banga soup( from my Delta friend), yam porridge but the food they all had in common was RICE. It just depends on the place and time(morning, noon or night) the date would happen. It’s not a written law that first dates should be at a restaurant, be creative. This is a combined list of both African and conditional suggestions for first date: 1)Rice and Chicken/Fish: This is simple and easy to eat. Majority of Nigerians are familiar with rice so there would be no embarrassment except you are forming. All forms of rice are acceptable on the first date; Fried rice, Jollof rice, Ofada Rice with Ayamase sauce, e.t.c. 2. Nkwobi/ Isiewu/ Asun: This is just perfect. It is an African dish that allows you to be both finesse and ajepacko at the same time. 3. Igbin: Deshelled African land snail is usually cooked in an onion and peppersauce. This meal is nice if the date is at night. 4. Chips and Grilled Fish 5. Suya: If you are concerned about your breath, suya could be had without the onions. 6. Wine:Wine could help relax your nerves if you are tensed up. 7. Catfish peppersoup(Point and Kill).... Read more at: https://pinchofchel./2017/11/27/firstdatefood/

dominique:I'd make a post about it soon |
FIRST dates are all about people getting to know each other. People are nervous enough and are already trying to put their best foot forward to either secure a second date or decide what the next step would be without having to worry about a food- related incident. It’s not a matter of forming or not being authentic but it’s the first date and the food you know how to eat very well could end up embarrassing you( even simple common ice cream/ pop corn). All our finesse and efforts could be wasted if we tried any of these meals: A) Spaghetti : No matter how appetizing the spaghetti is, slurping and chewing while trying to get to know each other is a no-no. It’s either you trying to cut the spaghetti strands into smaller pieces or attempting to suck on the spaghetti. B)Eba and Soup: This is the first date we are talking about. Leafy leafs could get stuck in your teeth while okra/ ogbonno needs no explanation, the drawing nature of the soup explains it all. C)Beans: The more you eat, the more you whoops. Be classy and not gassy- just forget the beans. Apart from beans causing you to fart, you’d be full quickly and ruin your plans for dessert if you made any. D)Salads: Salads take long to chew and it getting between your teeth is never a good look. E)Anything with Onions: Onion breath is terrible, it could end the date. F)Spicy Foods: If you can handle the heat, good for you but don’t risk it. Running nose and sweating is not a good look. No one is forcing you to appear macho by eating spicy meals. G)Vanilla Ice-cream/ Junk: Except you want to appear childish don't take junk meal or the vanilla flavour of ice-cream H)Bad table manners: Bad table manners should obviously be avoided at all costs. DO NOT chew with your mouth open and speak with a mouthful of food. Basic manners and a little common sense would go a long way.
