acume: Depending on your income level and the type of house you wish to build, you may decide to secure land first, remember home isn't built in a day, the moment you are able to secure land other things will be gradual, if your income level is such that can enable start immediately after purchase of land, the next thing is to arrange for the plan for the type of house you need based on the available space of the land so that an Engineer will be able to give you an idea of what it will cost to ibid it, then you can plan for savings for let's I say a year to start with, the moment you lay the foundation, all your attention should be on the house with little or no distraction to enable achieve your dream. Good Luck. Thanks for the reply Acume. Truly appreciate it. I am writing a property story on owning your own own using a 10 year plan. So I am taking as much advice and opinion from those who have an idea. |
Hi good business people. This is my first time of posting in the Investment Thread and I will truly appreciate any help. This is my question: what kind of plan can an individual have to enable him owe his own house in 10 years time, without using mortgages or loans. It has to be a kind of saving plan from his monthly income. Do banks have such plans that gives higher interest? Does anyone have an idea? |

There's a pharmacy on Opebi road, can't remember the name, but they stock lots of these foreign products both for adults and babies and my friend once bought Aveeno there for her son. The pharmacy is after Chicken Republic, on your way to Allen that is, almost opposite Every Woman. You can't miss it. |
I learnt from s couple of students at the Lagos State Polytechnic that lecturers have devised new means of extorting funds from them. According to what I learnt, some lecturers could decide to raise N1m on a certain week and divide the money among their students, asking them to pay one sort of bill or the other. For the OND students requesting a letter before going on their Industrial Training, they are asked to pay N5k. I have spoken to two lecturers I know very well in the school as well as an admin official and they say it isn't true. That they only sell text books when they have a new book. So I am asking, is there any Laspotech student here who has experienced the same thing? what other means are lecturers using to extort money from students. |
Hey guys, do you have an account with Stanbic IBTC? How would you rate the bank in terms of their services, loan giving and comparing them with other Nigerian banks? They claim to be moving forward. True or False? |
CBN recently listed 16 registered PMIs ( Primary Mortgage Institutions) as missing. PMIs main work to the best of my knowledge, apart from giving housing loan is helping their clients access the National Building Fund from the Federal Mortgage bank of Nigeria. They operate as banks where their clients save for different reasons. They are always advertising their services and looking for more clients they can give loans to. My question is, do you trust them? Do anyone here have any experience with them? |

These days, education is highly in demand as schools are in search of qualified teachers. Parents are in search of qualified teachers who can tutor their children on a part time basis. NGOs prefer to employ candidates with education degree. Also, accountants are always being advertised for. Depending on the school, education or teaching now pays very well. NGOs pay well also, and most accounting outfits like KPMG, ARM etc pay very well. I know an accountant less than 25 at Pricewater who earns above 300k monthly. So which course of study would you say is demanded the most by recruiting organization and which course of study pays the most? |
Hi Pinky, I noticed you started this thread as way back in 2005. I am not a job seeker, but perhaps you or someone else here might be able to help me with information on something I am working on. What course of study is the highest in demand when organizations are recruiting? |

hi, I don't know anything about this but if you are in Lagos, try and visit the Nigerian Institute of Oceanography and Marine Research (NIOMR). I think you will get more help there cos I have seen relative research materials on their website. www.niomr.org |
I just heard of the a man in Europe who suspected his wife of having an affair. One thing led to another and both his wife and the man in question ended up in prison. after a while, they were pardoned by the government and released. Mr. Man was so angry he invited the man who was sleeping with his wife to a hotel in the pretense for them to settle and tied up the man, had sex with him, dismembered him and killed him. Afterwards, he turned himself in to the police. That is what taking law into ones hand can cause. That man was definitely sick. I cannot imagine it really. It is easier said, But when such situations are faced, people tend to act differently. I really pray we all don't face such things. And God should help students in schools. I have three younger sisters and one is about to go to the University. Na only pray I fit pray take cover her. |
Does anyone have an idea how much a 20 feet or 40 feet shipping container is sold for and a contact of a seller here in Lagos? |
Did you hear about the rape of two female students of the Tai Solarin University of Education? The incidence that occurred was posted on social networks and caused an uproar and police investigation that led to the killing of an innocent undergraduate. My colleague here says if someone should rape his daughter or sister, that he will find the person and kill him. What will you do? |
Hi guys. thanks for all the information. I'm following the JAMB seizures of results first seeing that it is something that affects a lot of students and I agree it is unfair for JAMB to see the number seized this year as an improvement, compared to last year. I did suffer from result seizure once when WAEC seized the results of all science students in my school and I missed the admission for Medicine Uniben gave me back then, and lost a full year doing nothing. -UpDates-:Ha, please starts na. |
