EducationAre You A Student Or Ex Student Of A Technical College In Nigeria? by zayzee(op): 5:41pm On May 10, 2011
Hi, please I need help on technical colleges in Nigeria. What can anyone tell me about their standard of education? It used to be popular back in the days, but it is different now. Why don't alot of young people want to attend a technical college today? I understand their reason of establishment is to focus specifically on technical courses like engineering etc.
FamilyI Am 30. Should I Marry Him by zayzee(op): 1:34pm On May 06, 2011
The story below was written to me for publication in Business Hallmark Newspaper. She is seeking advice from readers and I thought I could also post it here and get more advice to publish in the newspaper for the troubled lady. Please read.

In a month, I will marry my fiancé of five years. I have always looked forward to marrying him but now that it is going to happen, I am really scared. Somewhere deep down, I feel I am making a big mistake because the reason why we finally have a marriage date isn’t because we sat down and planned our future but because I got pregnant.

I admit my fault in all that has happened to me. The pregnancy isn’t the only mistake I have made with Jide but I feel I have no options left and no one to help me. My family can hardly help themselves.

The beginning of our relationship was good and it was impossible not to fall in love with Jide. He was kind, loving, caring and everything I wanted in a man. He was interested in my future and helped with me get admitted into the Lagos State University to do a part time programme. Because my family lived in Badagry, I moved in with Jide as his place was closer to my school. Occasionally in the beginning, I noticed some traits I didn’t like. Jide would stay out late, girls would call him at odd hours, and when I confront him, he would get angry and pick fights with me. Later he would appease me with gifts and for a while, such incidents wouldn’t repeat themselves. At a point, I think I might have decided to turn a blind eye to the things I didn’t like, knowing that he loves me and he takes good care of me.

My relationship with other members of his family wasn’t exactly excellent, but okay. While his mother never exactly received me coldly any day, she wasn’t exactly warm. My not being Yoruba wasn’t an issue because two of her other sons where seriously involved with non Yoruba girls.

Jide, like his three brothers, do business with their mother and she gives them money. But business soon went bad and I suggested he got a job since he studied engineering but Jide refused and said his mother would not like it. I had to remind him he wasn’t getting any younger at 33 to wait for his mum to give him money before he could feed. He pushed the discussion aside and left for Abuja where he said he had a business to execute. In the eighteen months Jide stayed in Abuja, I only saw him twice when he came down for weekends to meet with his mother. In those months he was away he found little excuses to fight. Then he returned to Lagos late last year with no money and told me he was duped. We weren’t at peace because of fights and his late nights and calls from girls. What’s more, I would find huge sums of cash once in a while in his pockets and when I ask where from, he would get angry because I wasn’t supposed to find out. And in the wink of an eye, the money is all spent and he is asking me for money. I got a job that pays N20, 000 and Jide believes our future is stable on this lean salary. He visits prophets for solutions and never wants to talk about marriage because his mother asked us to hold on till she has enough money to throw a big party.

I should have ended this relationship when he was in Abuja, when it was very obvious he had side activities going on, and when my friends were telling me the writing on the wall was clear, but I didn’t because I thought of the years we have been together and how he was in the beginning. In hoping he would change, I endured the misery until I discovered I was pregnant. During the first weeks, I nursed a deep anger and resentment towards him. Now, I’m five months pregnant and we are getting married in a month time but I am scared things will only get worse. He has no job, and no intention of getting one. His mother does not talk to me and my soon to be groom plays lottery with whatever money he gets from where I don’t know. I am 30, what other options do I have?

Please, advice me.

@ lari03- ok. but which do you prefer?

I used to love the 5Alive Pineapple Punch, but I cant stand it anymore so I switched to Chivita Pineapple. After a while, it started to upset my stomach. Now I'm comfortable with the Chi Exotic Coconut Nectar.

Survey again guys. To be published in Business Hallmark with credit to nairaland of course.

"Some people say the price determines the choice of condom. Hence the popularity of Gold Circle Condom. For you, which condom do you patronize and why? Does the choice of condom determine the fun or rate of enjoyment or satisfaction? And does gender matter when choosing a condom?"

FamilyRe: Would You Do A DNA Testing On Your Kids? by zayzee(f): 9:17pm On Apr 04, 2011
which is why you shouldnt marry another a woman who wasnt meant to be your wife. once she is your wife, you are supposed to be best friends and without trust there is no relation.

on another side, if you were an Isoko man from delta state, u need not bother yourself about DNA because Isoko wives do not cheat and get away with it. Whether they r born again christians or not, an ancentral spirit called erin strikes her and she confesses. the bad part of it is that, the strike might begin by claiming innocent family members before she falls ill and starts to swell all over.

also, a wife in the house of an isoko man who is carrying another man's child might go into labour, but will not deliver the child if her husband is unsure who the father is. No joke. true.
FamilyDesperate Housewives (when To Let Go ) by zayzee(op): 8:41pm On Apr 04, 2011
True life story as published in the `Desperate Housewives`column. Business Hallmark Newspapers.

She had thought about getting a divorce several times. Each time she did, she quickly vetoed the idea for several reasons. It has been three years of marriage and the best she has gotten is her daughter. If Priscilla were older, maybe she would have decided long ago. But her daughter is only two.

Modupe drives a good car and lives in a beautiful house. She works as a secretary in a telecommunications company. She is an elegant lady to behold with a ready smile that attracts people to her. When men meet her for the first time, they are awed by her down to earth attitude. They tell her that her husband is lucky to have snatched her off the market.

Modupe met Larry five years earlier onboard an airplane on her way to Dubai with her friend Pat. They were going on a five day shopping holiday in preparation for Pat’s wedding. He had an aisle seat like Modupe and soon engaged her in a discussion. He asked to be invited to the wedding, saying he could be lucky to meet his future wife there.

Six weeks later, Modupe and Larry were testing the waters. She knew she wanted to get serious with him from the onset, but there were times he seemed uninterested.

Thinking it was because of a lady called Rita whom he once introduced to her, Modupe wanted to know what had happened to her. He said they dated a long time ago and were just friends. Later, it was easier for her to believe because Rita became engaged, married and moved to the UK with her husband.

They dated for two years before Larry asked her to marry him. She wasn’t expecting a proposal because their relationship wasn’t very serious. Larry was neither in it nor out of it. Although he was good to her and provided her with whatever she wanted, the emotional connection was missing. Yet, she agreed to marry him because he was different from all the other guys she had dated. He never promised her what he wouldn’t give. He always stood by his words.

Their marriage ceremony came and went. The first few months were an improvement on their relationship and she believed that Larry had finally taken a turn and she relaxed. She had her baby on their first anniversary. A week later, Larry traveled to the UK for business. The week he returned was the week her marriage ended.

He told her passively that he ran into Rita and was surprised to learn that she was divorced and had returned to the country. She waited for him to say more and he didn’t and she didn’t know what to ask.

The subject of Rita was a difficult one. All he told her about Rita was that they dated. The rest she found out from her sister in-law. Larry and Rita were together for six years. They broke up because her parents refused Larry who was from Edo state. They wanted an Igbo son in-law. It was two years after the break up that Modupe met Larry.

That week turned into months, and it is two years. Now, they live as housemates. He still gives her everything. He adores their daughter, but they don’t live as husband and wife anymore. Larry came home from work one night and said he would sleep in the guest room. It continued the next day until it was constant.

Modupe sat him down one day and asked what she did wrong. Larry apologized. He said he knew he wasn’t being a good husband. He told her that despite what she thought, he did love her. He asked that she be patient with him that he was going through a personal crisis. Having everything doesn’t mean anything to her anymore because her husband wasn’t hers.

She doesn’t know what Larry wants. He hasn’t said he would leave her for Rita. He spoke with Rita once in a while, but Modupe knew he wasn’t having an affair with the lady. Yet. Larry was the type of man who was faithful to a cause. And he went out of his way to let Modupe know about his movement because he did not want her thinking he was secretly seeing Rita.

Yes, she had thought about divorce several times. And each time she did, she quickly vetoed the idea for several reasons. For one thing, Larry was a very good man whose emotions were at pieces. It hurts her to think of it, but he was trying to make it up by making sure she lacks nothing. She had asked him if he wanted to leave her for Rita, he shook his head and said he couldn’t do such to Modupe because she didn’t deserve it. Again he asked that she be patient that what he was trying to do was get over Rita completely.

And there was their daughter to consider. She wouldn’t put her through a divorce. Modupe is hoping that Larry’s demons would be exorcised in time so she can have her husband and marriage back. How long will it take? Will she have to let go?

FoodRe: Indomie Noodles! by zayzee(f): 4:55pm On Mar 18, 2011
@ Inked_Nerd
You couldn't have grown up eating Mimee Noodles even if you are 21 because Mimee was first introduced into the market in 2007. Google search it and you will see the company May & Baker started it in 2006, but as for marketing, it started in 2007 with their Boom sha sha advert.

Probably, you are mistaking it with Maggi noodles which was in the market in the 90s in Nigeria.

Hi guys, I am doing a survey for a product watch report at work and would really appreciate your input.

Which is the mattress of your choice? There are lots of brands in the market now. Vita, Mouka, Bravo, Elico etc. I don't know if Vono is still in the market. There is also a brand called Abeokuta foam. Which is your brand and why? Do you think Vita and Mouka are too expensive or over rated? In terms of durability, textile design and affordability, how would you rate the various brands?

Does anyone have information on any new estate that is being developed around Agbara or along Badagry Express Way? Or probably someone who sells land in that area. With the construction of the road and rail tracks, property price is bound to explode in that area. What do you guys think?
FamilyRe: How Do I Get Rid Of Cockroaches? by zayzee(f): 4:25pm On Feb 24, 2011
I hate cockroaches and they scare the hell out of me. I can't answer your question cause I really don't know. Just moved into a new place and roaches gave me hell at first. I was using a can of Bagon for two days at first and they all disappeared and I had peace. But then the sewage was emptied, and the building repainted, and they came in multitudes. Right now, they are gone and I hope it's forever. No matter how neat your home is isn't the answer. But I believe fumigation will work best for a lasting effect.

anyone who has a real solution, please, I'm also interested.

RomanceRe: Im Confused, Please Matured Advice by zayzee(f): 5:41pm On Feb 23, 2011
Remember the Bible says do not be unequally yoked. Do not settle for less. Are you thinking of marrying him just because you are 42 and you think time is running out? God's promises may be late but they surely come. He alone understands His timing. But then, do you love this man? if you think about your future, can you see him in it 5, 10, 15 yrs from today? do you think you can have long term happiness and peace with this man? I'm not trying to discourage you. My friend's cousin married this January at the age of 51. She had never been married and everyone had given up on her. but she met a man who had also never been married and the rest is history. Hold God strong. At the time when we most feel like giving up, our breakthroughs are closer than we think. Don't miss it. If you are on facebook, join the group Covenant Singles and Married Ministries. There are loads of Christians to encourage you there.
