Please why are nigerians always looking around for what / who to blame for everything? I have a few points i want to make clear (my opinion though): 1) The amount we spend in my office here in the UK on electricity bill is about 80% of what you will spend in Nigeria running a 100KVA generator - I have done the calculation. My point is Power is a problem but not a major impediment as people would like us beleive. Have you ever bothered asking yourself why many african countries have power but no major developement in Agriculture. ( Look around west africa and east africa). My point is Uninterupted power will help but it is not what is holding us back. 2)People blame politicians for their being poor, many even feel they were better off during military as per dollar was 80naira then. Please remember a professors salary before Obj came in was 25K naira a month or slightly less. Now they earn 500k and are complaining. You remember dollar is just twice the amount it was before. We will not see that but we will complain. Politicians are corrupt, we know, I can assure you it has been worse but because internet usage was poor, you did not get the information. Suggestion: Provide a service to the politicians and rich businessmen and you will be rewarded handsomely. Money still gets to move around. 3) Population to me is our greatest problem. When my dad was in university and even secondary school, he was being fed very well in school but now nobody feeds anyone because they were few in university then simple! Govt could afford that easily. Have you ever wondered why there are many poor people in china and india upon the economy is doing well? Its because of the population- everyone cannot receive from the govt. Finally look around you and find the rich people, you will see they were able to overcome all these challenges and are doing very well in Naija. Even my company is doing a job in Naija (oil & gas) and they are overcoming all the challenges one after the other. Guys let's dust our clothes and move on from these excuses we give. |
diluminati: which kind work? mail man?I clean their offices and remove garbage from the premises... >: ![]() |
Useless story from a useless source. >: ..... I work in the oil sector and can say authoritatively that people earn twice or thrice working in middle east and some other African countries than Naija. These days I wonder why people believe anything without thinking if it makes sense. Eg can u pay someone working in Iraq same as Lagos? We need to start thinking before venting our anger on anyone. |
Nice to see a thread like this, I work as a subsea engineer, my field deals with structural and mechanical engineering. I was wondering why structural engineering is hot in the UK but not in Naija. I worked a bit with finite element analysis softwares like Flexcom, Orcaflex etc. I keep wondering why we don't do a lot of analysis in Naija. I wish the sector will develop fast. |
Its appauling how everyone claims to know more than the leaders, In the western world, all CCTV is used for is to capture faces of criminals, after that is done they will put it in the news and people will identify the criminals. THEY DO NOT USE FACIAL RECOGNITION SOFTWARE FOR THAT |
None of these guys has impressed me so far. I wish we had better candidates with plan and not just criticizing. |
Where are the BUHARI supporters? he is embarrassing himself , he cannot answer questions on power. He just kept saying that they will find out what happened to the money invested in the power sector without saying how to make the sector attractive to investors, I wish Goodluck came because from what i can see it is only Ribadu that can debate him intelligently. |
@9jaman, the good thing is that no matter the deception and all the rantings of the BB supporters GEJ will still win in an embarrassing way. I see no reason why people should pretend that you cannot help in conflict resolutions in your region because it is the work of the president, that does not show love for Naija. Anyway i don't won't to say that if BB win, it will take them double the amount of time it presently takes to approve and pass a budget than it takes now, with that you people will come after one year to shout they have not done anything. I wonder how Buhari will represent Naija and negotiate bilateral relationships with western world. If you guys love BB and Ribadu why not go to the grassroots and campaign instead of this internet wars that will have no contribution to who wins the elections. |
I live in the part of the world where objective criticism has to do with hailing what has been rightly done and condemning what was done in a wrong way, Immediately i read the first analysis, I just found out it was a cheap attempt at condemning GEJ, Don't get me wrong cos I am not an apologist for GEJ but I still know what is good/bad. I just saw someone put a blind eye on everything right about GEJ's manifesto and decided to CLAIM every solution from BUHARI is better. For those that are not completely blinded by BB ticket, i will ask- Buhari commands so much respect in the north and he is an elder statesman, has he ever used his influence to settle religious crisis in the north before? How has he contributed to the education of the Amajiris in the North? How has he used his influence in the north to better Naija? Anyway i would recommend GEJ till 2015 when the race will be more competitive with the likes of Fashola, Sullivan Chime etc will come out for presidency. As for now "Clueless GEJ" should/ would continue. |
I suspect the people championing this thread have selfish motives i.e they just want a change in party so that their people would enter and spread the money to them. The solution to Naija problems does not come from having an anti-corruption whiz kid afterall just a few people can accuse UMY of stealing money. The problem is having someone with a vision. PDP has not failed in all the states eg Enugu and Rivers, if we decide to talk about ACN then I would ask if it is only Fashola that is ACN governor? Why are we not hearing of others? I believe someone intelligent will solve nigeria's problems be him from PDP, ACN, APGA etc it doesn't matter. If u love Ribadu so much why don't u campaign for him in villages where majority of the votes will come from cos the internet people don't constitute a significant population, I will also tell u that the ACN is more concerned about having all SW govs than having a President. Finally EFCC should use big companies like KPMG and Delloite to have a review of civil service procedures and contract procedures as that will prevent corruption more than chasing after people that have stolen money. |
I have been checking something for a while now, people are clamoring for Ribadu and Buhari solely because of their integrity but just a quick check on the leadership of "high integrity" leaders like Peter Obi and Edo State Governor show something interesting: Sullivan Chime of Enugu state is doing two times better than Peter Obi in development and governance and he is perceived to be more corrupt. Edo State governor cannot also be compared to Fashola of Lagos who is also not among the "high integrity" leaders. What is my point? Good leadership requires more than just financial Integrity. |
It is obvious that we have a lot of growing up to do, I just read an article showing that PDP worn the delta polls, the interesting thing there is that the number of comments about the election being rigged is mind blowing. I am just gradually concluding the personal research I was doing to understand why the views on Nairaland and other forums don't reflect the views of the masses. On the internet the Uduaghan Govt is really hated by all deltans but on the ground the votes say otherwise. My question is 1) do you feel the election was rigged ? 2) do u feel the people ranting on the internet don't actually vote? 3) do u feel it is about the naive masses and the villagers and not the internet users? I feel politicians will soon stop bothering with the internet users as they are much fewer than the villagers that actually do the voting. I need your veiws |
I once worked for Zenith Bank and I can categorically say that every bank has some form of charges to pay salaries and run the bank. I can also confirm that fee is charged when you withdraw from another state. If you write to your branch and tell them that you operate a lot outside the state they will grant you a waiver moreover if Zenith is too expensive you can change to other banks as I know Zenith is for the "rich and middle-class". If you operate HSBC or other top banks you would still have some charges that small banks like Lloyds TSB and others won't charge. |
