Phew! I like u are going for economics, this ur analysis no be small , anyway I used about 850 to calculate, and I also have added my sponsors account statement. But ur fees is quite hight, over 12000 euros for a one year course, mine is 7500 for the whole two years. objifeanyi: Hiya zendman, this answer would have been best if I had collected my visa because the officer at the consulate does not return your statement of account if it is insufficient or the embassy give an indication of a minimum monthly expenses in euros.
In any case I had excess of N3m and I used the below logic;
I contacted my school for the minimum living expenses in a month and it totaled to 600 Eur. I added 25% more to it to make it 850 eur/month hence I had to budget 8,500 Eur for my 10 months course. On the conversion to Naira, I noticed that all the fees recently have gone up by at least 43% with visa fees going up by 47%, I used it in converting to Naira with the base as the old rate of circa (N230/Eur) and leaving me with the formular (8500*230*1.47). I left the balance as excess just in case... all in a bid to reduce my margin of error
Not sure if the money is sufficient or my conversion logic correct... I can only hope and pray that I am granted visa...
Hey one more thing, I already paid all my school fees before applying for visa and I was glad to have done that because I was able to get CBN funds for over 64% of my school fees before the devaluation and used the parallel market to sort out the balance... imagine if I have to pay 12,300 Eur in today's economics ... would seriously re think this whole PG cum Spanish visa wahalla |

That's what most people say at the embassy and even the world economic news place them low in terms of employment. Anyway what's important is just to get the degree and move on from their, may have to opt for an exchange program in Germany or Japan after my first semester since my school has an exchange program with some school in those countries and many other countries. Anyway will cross the bridge when we get there. BTW how about the so called teaching English as a foreign language which I heard is quite common in madrid and Barcelona. You should be through now with your program I guess. @objifeanyi called the embassy and I also wrote them but was told they will get back to me as soon as they receive it. Told them to send me the lawyers number but no reply to that request yet. I just pray I get it next week Thursday. 1andonly: Don't give up! I had similar challenges. PCC expiration-this was why I said not to do it early because it might expire. I think you have to legalize it. Phew! I understand how it feels. That sinking feeling and you want to abandon ship but don't.
School resumption. OMG!!! Take a chill pill. Wait till your school resumes on the 31st, get a resumption extension letter from them, legalize your PCC but enquire whether you need to legalize this expired version since it is truly not your fault and it wasn't mine either. Bombard the consulate visa section with emails. Find their specific email it should have visa something in it complain and rant. I used this and it worked wonders for me. Rant, rant, rant and rant but in a clearly thought out and logical way.
Once more, keep up the fight don't give up and we may yet meet in the beautiful city of Barcelona.
Just thought to warn you guys, Spain is facing a very dry moment with respect to its economy. So don't expect too much as this ain't UK, Germany or the US. The kind of jobs usually available are bar tending jobs, salesman jobs etc not the kind of job you probably dream about hehehehe. I seriously wanted to come back after my studies but something dropped for me. Doesn't mean I won't be coming back though. There are more opportunities in Nigeria than Spain. The only thing that irks me is the power situation and the rough traffic in Lagos if not I would have come back home a long time ago.
Cheer up guys!!! |

Paid for DHL to deliver them to me from my school but was told the school is closed. Meaning I have to wait till 31st when school resumes. Before I get it. How much did u renew ur PCC? Did mine on 8 of June. Does that mean u will have to legalize it again? Just kind of depressed with the whole stuff. Saw someone who collected his certificate after 3 months of investigation even heard some saying they bribe the so called investigator. The whole story made me very sad today. All the same I wont give up! objifeanyi: Hiya Zendman, very unfortunate but call them or write them an e mail explaining your plight and should your document be ready, they should send you a notification by mail. I tried it and it worked for me...
I also have not applied because I am still expecting my translated copy of my PCC from Vivian. In between I will advise you also request the originals of your documents from the school - admission letter, school fess payment, scholarship letter...etc. I will receive my Spanish translation on Friday and hopefully will apply next week.
Let us all keep faith it will all end up in praise by God's grace |

Four days is ok. But those spanish guys >for documents try and add any document to prove you will definitely come back so doc such as employment letter, salary slip, marriage certificate, shares etc will go along way to let them know your intention, also add a cover letter detailing the nature of your "tour" whether na to go enjoy or business tourism or to go snap with Messi. Ethan45: God bless you zendman. Ummm what do you mean by when i pay for the hotel booking the better? I want to book for 7 days, pay fully for four days nd complete the other 3 when i reach there cos i dont want to hear shoot bird so i can easily get my refund when i hear stories dt touch the heart frm there embassy. If i dont make the complete payment will it raise a red flag? Are my employment docs needed nd do i need to swear an affidavit? |

1. hotel booking (When you pay for it the better) 2. A very ripe bank account to cover for your travelling expenses 3. Fill the application form which you can find @ http://www.vfsglobal.com/spain/nigeria/visaapplicationprocess.html4. Flight booking 5. Go to AIICO office and tell them you need travel insurance for 30 days. you will get it under 30 minutes. 6. No need to translate for tourism 7. Good luck Ethan45: Boss please nah. No vex. You can't use birth certificate because you were probably born before 1992 I guess. So u have to get a declaration of age from National population commission which will cost u 6k that is what u take to MOF and MOE for certification then forward to the embassy for legalization. Go to ur school and take ur photocopy certificate with u so they can stamp CTC on it. Also take both the CTC stamp photocopy and ur original certificate to MOE for certification and both will be certified then forward to the embassy for legalization. Since u are resuming Sept 5th just pray they don't investigate your certificate cos that will be two months of waiting. @objifeanyi did the embassy tell u anything that might help us in our application? Skelewudprince: Thanks, my tuition fee is not stated on my admission letter, they are also not responding to my mails.
I will also like to confirm if the original birth certificate has to be legalised at the Min. of Foreign affairs because I only legalised the photocopy. Also are my original school certificates to be legalised at the foreign affairs too? Only the photocopies were legalised at the foreign affairs but the original were legalised at the Min of Edu.
Also, do I really need a certified true copies of my certificates? if so, where do I take them to? |

I think you have to have all the fees and extra for personal use in your account. Read page 3, someone was denied the visa because she only had fees for 3 yrs of her study instead of the entire period of study. You can contact @objifeanyi to give you the Spanish consulate email so you ask them directly. All the best. kachi10: hello everyone, i am new to this thread and it has been quite insightful. please can anyone let me know the requirements for applying for a spanish visa for undergraduate study? can the living expenses funds be in the account of my sponsor. For translation contact Rodrigo, u will see his email on page 4, Vivian is on holiday till 17th of August, she did mine and was very fast. For the fees, go with the receipt for the 600 euros you paid and get a written note from the school regarding how enrolment is done. I feel the Spanish embassy does not know much about how her school operates. Most schools only ask for a percentage of the fees and the other part is paid when you get there. I will advice you visit any xerox centre to print the scanned copy because they produce quality prints and you won't even know is not original copy except you are told. One of their office is at awolowo way in Ikoyi. obycindy: Good day my people, Kindly advise, I need to translate my documents but don't know where to do that. According to spanish embassy requirements. They need original copy of my school fees and accommodation receipt.I only paid 600 euros, my school said I will pay the remaining when I arrive. My PCC is 8 of June does that mean I still have till 8 of September before it expires objifeanyi: Not sure I can submit because my BSc. Certificate is not legalized.
Info for all, incase your PCC has expired as a result of investigation the Spanish embassy allows for renewal of the pink copy only. You don't need to do fresh finger prints however you will have to legalize and translate the pink copy again. Please be mindful about that and incorporate in your time line so you can apply for visa max the next working day after investigation |

It was written boldly on my admission letter. Try and call the coordinator of your course. You can also browse the department, under the enrolment process you will see prices listed. They normally pay per course but since yours is PhD I don't know how they charge. But I was charge 61 euros per course for masters in telecom engineering. The frustrating thing now is they are on vacation and no one is even replying mails or answering calls. Skelewudprince: @Zendman, I have also gotten a PhD admission at UPC, but I was told that I can not pay the tuition fee until September 5, when the registration/enrollment opens. However, I do not know the exact tuition fee yet. Can you tell me how you got to know your tuition fees? |

Ewo! They should not border looking for me ooo cos I am already in kano for official reasons. beside my primary school certificate can't be found now. I guess you can even apply now if your doc are complete. Congrat! Vision #spain2016 objifeanyi: Hiya all I was able to confirm with the Spanish consulate here that you need no appointment for visa application, you just need to turn up... see extract of the e mail.
'For student visa you dont need an appointment. You can come form 8 to 10 hours everyday'
Also the Spanish consulate gave me a call yesterday evening for the purpose of verifying my credentials. I had the lawyer visit my home and he requested my academic history starting from Primary to University as evidenced by my certificates. He also requested evidence of my admission... so please for guys who are under investigation, try to keep copies of the these documents.
As for your admission letter, I know the embassy will make do with the Spanish version, but it will be ok you have an English translation just to enable the lawyer who may visit for investigation read through easily and quickly form an opinion...
This process is very involving but please let us all keep faith with God having gone this far... |

I am paying 7500 euros for the two years. So i simply converted it using 7500*392=2940000 which is roughly 3 million. though am paying 1870 euros per semester. the four schools that gave me admission charge on average 1700 euros per semester. I had to choose this (UPC) because they added me to list of candidates they intend to consider for a 3000 euro scholarship. Na that one i dey pray for now beside the school profile seems to be very high in engineering. 1andonly: I think the consulate calculates it with around 600 EUR per month and will probably use CBN rate for their exchange rate calculation so I think your chances are high even without a sponsor. I don't think the consulate cares about your sponsor if he/she is not your parent or bears a different name from you.
So I will advise you calculate with 600, check the official exchange rate for EUR/NGN and augment your account if need be. I think an additional 1.5 to 2 mill should do the trick though and place you on the safe side.
Btw your school is quite expensive. Why didn't you go for a cheaper school. There are way more cheaper schools in Spain. |
Travel › Re: Spanish Student Visas by zendman: 12:09pm On Jul 31, 2016 |
At the bolded. 1000 euros per month for my 2 year(24 months) course is 24000 euros, at the current exchange rate that is 24000*392=9408000 in addition to 3 million for my fees. that is like 12 million in total. I only have 52% of that amount with me. Which roughly 6.2 million. But meanwhile my sponsor has far more than that 13 million but it will be unrealistic for me to demand for such an amount or even have such an amount transferred into my account. Anyway I'm going to go ahead and submit my sponsors bank statement and mine bearing the 6 million. @1andonly what are my chances Of securing a visa with what I have in my bank. Meanwhile this quote was from kudie in 2015 Kudie: I just read through the thread ... My experience was that the process seemed confusing at first but I contacted an Alumni and a current student of my school so they could break it down for me. The most stressful part turned out to be the long waits at the Consulate and dealing with the B'S from the Consulate staff (Nigerians turned Spanish). Few pointers:
1. Med Cert must not be from a General Hospital ...I used one from a Military Hospital (The guy at the consulate had told me it must not be ..took a sample to him on the day of Legalisation). Probably any government related hospital to be on the safe side. However it must have that clause they stated in the requirements about not having contagious disease in line with Blah blah.
2. Get an accommodation contract covering about a month as proof of temporary accommodation then ensure the rest of your rent is in your account. Google Dflat housing..I paid with my debit card and the contract was couriered to me.
3.I have it from a trusted source that you are better off having your living expenses in your own account and not a sponsor's account. This is at the rate of 1000 Euros per month for the duration of your course.
4. Translation can be done within 3 to 4 days at the rate of 7,900 per page plus 5000 for courier. Unfortunately I can't put the dude's number up here. Dude is somewhere at SON on same street as the Consulate.
5. Make sure your School sends you original copy(ies) of receipts for payments.
6. Ensure the photocopy of your legalised finger print document for Police Certificate is photocopied front and back on same sheet of paper jst as the original is.
7. Don't get worried if they decide to interview you briefly with respect to your BSc Certificate...jst be confident and answer as appropriate..They decide if to put ur BSc thru Investigation by conducting the very brief interview..Investigation will mean two months of waiting plus 60k payment. I was interviewed...The Oyibo lady asked when I graduated ...If I have been working since graduation...name of my then VC ..name of the Registrar..Course I studied...don't be surprised if she asks why you are going for a particular Masters considering ur First Degree is in a diff or unrelated discipline...This interview is done at the Legalisation stage if they feel the need.
Pls don't let that Lady intimidate you but then just politely express urself and do not engage her in an argument ..she doesn't waste time in calling security.
I submitted my application first week of July and I am waiting for their response. I am positive the response will be favourable. |

PLEASE RESPOND IS URGENT ManCiCi1: I don't think IWP of UAB is in charge of accommodation processing. In their brochure (IWP) they suggested sites you can link up to secure accommodation one of which is Vila Universitaria, they're very reliable and most people on here paid deposits to secure their own apartments. In my case I paid to secure my apartment which also covers the one year contract (a month rent equivalent) and will pay the actual one month rent on arrival. |
