albacete: how many contestants in all? 12:00 noon is just an hour away, let's be a bit patient. I would suggest a maximum of 4 members per group, d best 2 to emerge each week.

If no volunteer is forthcoming, i will take up d role.

There are 27 names in all. Going by your suggestion there will be 6 groups of 4players and the 7th one will have three unless one person makes it 28players.

From the look of things it seems that indication of interest is no longer in sight. Do i go ahead to conclude and upload the draws?

jasper7: ah ah. I have been in since day1. won't hurt to take on a new challenge. Another reason to buttress my point is that some days have favored markets that everybody would wanna take advantage of. How do we manage that?

That means all the punters will have to play on the same day as the case maybe and will be paired against each other. But it may lead to the dropping of picks on daily basis and some people might not have chance to post their pick due to their schedule. How do we go about it?

Honestly i was about posting before seeing alba's idea i think its a good one in that case let us extend it to tomorrow by 12noon.

jasper7: My ogas them. It's good to see that everybody is working together. If I was to throw in my 2cents on this one. I would suggest it is done in the form of a league instead of one on one battle. Because am not sure anybody would wanna come head to head against some people here. But in a league system only the very best can win the tourney. it would be more thrilling that way. especially when you still stand a chance throughout the tourney.

Your input is a brilliant idea but the handling and keeping of records may be too bulky for the recordkeeper. BTW are you in?

The indication of interest is now officially over. So far so good we have 25 candidates. There shall be 4groups with six contestants in each group with the exception of group A which will have seven. The first four tipsters on each group will qualify for the next round. Draws to be uploaded soon.

Punters we have less than 10mins to go before the indication of interest closes. So hurry while offer lasts.

albacete: Let me suggest these:

1. A record keeper (volunteer) to adjust our points and possibly fish out discrepancies in any punter's odd or selection (very important)

2. Minimum odd will be capped at 1.5 (single or combo)

3. Any market is allowed: DrawNoBet, DoubleChance, 1x2, Over/Under, etc. FOOTBALL ONLY

4. Live in-play NOT allowed.

5. Points used to grade punters (rounded to the nearest whole number)
eg 1.55 = 2pts
2.76 = 3pts
2.44 = 2pts
5.59 = 6pts
5.49 = 5pts
(in essence, from .5 and above, ur odd gets rounded to the next whole number).

6. Singles or accumulator ONLY; no Canadian, Goliath, Yankee. In other words, no 3 from 4 or 5 from 7.Keep it simple.

7. Each group to comprise 4 members, and 2 members with the highest points in a week to qualify to the next round.

8. Every group to be given a week (all to run concurrently) to produce 2 qualifiers. Once ur slot is exhausted for the week, any other selection u post will not be recorded until a new week starts (if eventually u scale through).

9. 4 slots per week (1 slot for each single/accumulator bet) for all members which can be used at any time of the week (so that u don't give excuses that u were at a job interview the day others were submitting their picks).

10. A bonus slot to be awarded to whoever uses all 4 slots within a week without netting a single feat.

11. A pick cannot be used more than three times. For example, if Michky, Valboy and bukahands have included FC Barcelona in their selections as a home win, I cannot pick FC Barcelona to win (not even DoubleChance or DrawNoBet on FC Barcelona) but i can bet on FC Barcelona to lose or draw and also play other markets like over/under, even/odd etc. Lest we start duplicating picks here.


If there is a better suggestion, let us bring it to the table.

Any kind of bet is generally allowed to be posted as long as it contains value.

In case of a tie (draw) punter with highest odd wins

Live in-play allowed, but once dropped, no editing will be accepted

Please make sure the event u are dropping within time range of 24hrs

Also, the deadline for dropping of picks should be 10mins before kick-off of the game the punter chooses as anything after this time will be considered void and the punter will be disqualified from the competition.
Let me ask what happens when a punter fails to post his pick and his opponent's pick didn't win.

abbeynoni: i suggest inplay should be removed becasue the odd changes as match progresses and u can't be ascertain of what the particular odd was wen it was dropped to avoid every element of bias in this competition.

Boss, as the name implies its all about bragging rights, it is also aimed at keeping us busy now that the major leagues are on break and it will also be used to separate the boys from the men. To me i don't think anybody will be cheated, i see it as a motivating factor to challenge the best hands in the game. I won't mind if i'm paired against someone like bukahands for e.g. Come to think of it, are the likes of bayern munich, barcelona, man utd etc in the same group in the UCL. Upsets are bound to happen don't be surprised to see a rookie win a pro in the game. That of a re-match should be played the following day with those involved titling their picks MY RE-MATCH WITH ...(the name of the punter involved) even though other games are being played that same day, so that the Tourney won't be prolonged.

@Akraym. It is a good idea but why don't you pair tipsters instead of grouping. In this case it will be a straight knock out with a minimum odd of 1.5 and if two tipsters draw (i.e if both wins or loses) a re-match will be scheduled. Punters how do you see this. Feel to oppose or propose.

I think singles should be allowed in this competition as long as its odd is not less than 1.5. Btw i'm in.

The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Working Committee(NWC) has said that the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) was behind the insurgency threatening the peace of the country. In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Olisah Metuh, the PDP based its declaration on the opposition party’s condemnation of President Goodluck Jonathan’s declaration of state of emergency in Adamwa, Borno and Yobe states on Tuesday.
The ACN has faulted the process as it submitted that the Federal Government did not seek the endorsement of the National Assembly as stipulated in the amended 1999 Constitution. But Metuh in the statement disclosed that the opposition party was against emergency rule as he claimed the “ACN and its cohorts in the opposition are behind insurgents and therefore, must subvert every measure taken by government to tackle escalating insurgency.”
Metuh also claimed that the ACN had been exploiting the escalating crisis to undermine thePDP-led Federal Government. “We recall that the opposition boasted recently that they would end the Boko Haram scourge within two months of their presidency. Thereis no smoke without fire”, he said.Metuh noted that the opposition sees the escalating terror as a short-cut to power. “Recall also that the statements of the leaders of the opposition at the eve 2011 presidential election gave birth to violence which has snowballed today into terrorism.
We therefore, call on the leaders of the opposition to remove the mask on their faces and publicly declare their stand,” he said. The PDP admonished the ACN to exercise restraint in its criticisms. “May we also educate the ACN that a just and equitable society cannot be achieved overnight in the same manner, good governance is not an already- made commodity waiting on the counter. We wish to emphasize that in over a decade, the PDP has not only rebuilt the decayed fabrics of the nation, but has taken recognizable and commendable steps in the direction of good governance.
We shall remain committed to thatdespite distractions. “What is newin what the President has done if we must again tell the ACN, is that President Jonathan is a core democrat, who appreciates the core values of democracy and who believes firmly that democracy must be practised in Nigeria in its undiluted form”, Metuh noted.
