Just because the people are not in the formal sector you have no good reason to call them poorest states. Most people in those states have very high income than average southerner. Most people are traders, businessmen and farmers but not working in the formal sector that why they are always counted out. The only problem with most of these states are insecurity. What infrastructure is missing in those states's urban areas. Most of those states are making giant stride in human capital development and state of art education system.

With soaring food prices villages whose dwellers are majorly farmers, are now much richer they have ever been across Northern Nigeria. Most that are impoverished by Tunibu policies are those working classes in the urban areas. It's true Tunibu have succeded in wipping out the middle class particularly in Northern Nigeria. The major problem now is insecurity bedeviling many villages across the North displacing thousands of farmers. This is direct cause of all the sufferings highlighted in this article. But villages unaffected by insecurity are now better than the have ever been. People in the urban areas are now begging their village relatives for grains. That is the truth for am in the North.
