IGBINEDION University, Okada, Edo State holds its 13th convocation ceremony tomorrow where some eminent Nigerians, including Dr. Godfrey Bawa shitgurum, Alhaji Musbahu Bashir and Colonel Paul Osakapamwan Ogbebor (rtd) are to be honoured with the institution’s honorary doctorate.

While decrying the falling standard of education in the country which he pinned at the doorsteps of public institutions, he noted that: “It was when private universities came on board in this country, that the university sector stabilised. It was as a result of the emergence of private university that our university calendar became stable. Our universities will remain open as against the incessant strike action that characterised public institutions and there will be quality in our education system in the universities.”
Osaghae added that the proliferation of private higher institutions of learning had helped to reposition the educational system, particularly spurring the public-owned institutions to become focused and result-oriented.
