Horoyeencar:
Is acura TL 2010 a good buy, this is my first car and I am looking for something very good and durable.
My guy let me tell you something from the aspect of a guy who was once in your position. It's not about buying a car because you have a budget for it. it's how much is left in the account after buying the car that'd determine what car buy.

Let's say you buy a benz. You con jam, break front bumper, replacing it would cost you about 120k to 140k

For most Toyota product, you'd spend at most 80k.

You should at least be able to afford change both the engine and gearbox, just in case. Those are the most expensive things to replace in a car.

ES 350 gearbox na around 600k
ES 330 gearbox na around 400k.
Corolla gearbox na 300k.

Engine is roughly around the same price too.

I bought the ES 330 myself even though the ES 350 looks better. Reason being I was advised to avoid 2007-2009 because they usually have transmission problems.

After buying a new ES 330 I still had to change my gearbox, which cost me around 400k. Not to talk about other maintenance issues.

I love my ES 330 whenever it's in great shape. Do I regret buying the ES 330 over the 350. Not really, just for the difference in shape and I guess interior looks, but that really isn't a big deal to me. Cars are very expensive nowadays.

Acura TL? My guy no buy am, my friend used it, I preferred Camry interior to it, plus it's more expensive to fix in cases when you need to.

Rav4? I haven't used it, so I don't know.

Toyota Camry? Buy only 2009 or 2010. If you don't fancy speed, buy that with 4 cylinder

ES330? If you have no problems with the shape, buy that car, drives excellently well and when it comes to strong, that car strong pass anything. Telling you from experience.

ES350? Buy 2010 only, but you need more than 4m

Corolla? Buy 2009 or 2010. You will enjoy fuel economy and easy to maintain.

C300? You'll enjoy it so much if and if only you buy a good one, but expensive to maintain in my opinion when I can get a Japanese with almost the same features.

P.S. Welcome to the league of car owners. May God guide you to buying one that will give you little to no problem.

Thanks for all the mentions, but I'm unapologetic about my comment. Let's face the reality on ground, the Nigerian image is already dented and may even become irredeemably dented if the activities of these guys and our politicians are not checked.

The only difference between our politicians and these guys is that, our thieving politicians are smart enough to steal only from their people, we tolerate the excesses of these politicians and the FBI doesn't bother them. undecided

What I understand by this move is that, with hushpuppi and Co in the bag, it's only logical for the FBI to try and hunt down the remaining members of the syndicate, so that they can close the case. Someone is already being tortured and the person is snitching on the clique.

You don't steal from somebody's house and expect to be punished like a family member.

See, we can either face our current reality or continue burying our heads in the sand. angry

Health / Re: COVID-19: How False Negatives Are Complicating Testing by ZikZikZik: 7:18am On Apr 11, 2020
I have said this before. This will be a major problem especially here in Nigeria. I see people saying Nigeria heat and blah blah blah. Nigeria could possibly have as much cases as the UK but they'll think it's something else and rather call Pastor help, or buy paracetamol like in the case of that one dead from Delta. Nigeria has the most inconsistent test for covid-19. Today you're negative, tomorrow you're positive. Sorry but Nigerian medical team can't be trusted, that's why people fly abroad for the most minor operations
Politics / Re: COVID-19: Taraba Government Relaxes Lockdown; Thanks Tarabans For Compliance by ZikZikZik: 8:37am On Apr 09, 2020
My question is "has their lockdown lasted up the incubation period of the virus? What if someone has it but still hasn't shown symptoms yet?" There's a reason why the US made their incubation/isolation period 21days.

Absolutely, nigerians are better off where they are in the UK or US there are high chances of them dying of pollutions, thyphoid, generator fumes and starvations in nigeria. and like you ve said, nigerians rather go to the chemists or their pastors when they are sick rather than hospital where they have to pay huge amounts.
Exactly. They're chances that many people who have this virus will not be found or even known until it seems like everything is under control and then it gets worse. After testing Negative in the US, you are not allowed to go out for the next 21days, but here in Nigeria, they're discharging and discharging on one test that shows negative.

Let’s look at the numbers:

Lagos had her first case a week b4 NYC and her first death a week after NYC. Both have high population density. YET, just yesterday alone 779 people died in NY while the entire Nig has less than 10 deaths total.

If we can figure out WHY, we would have solved the riddle of this virus. SOMETHING saved us. The question is WHAT?
Nothing dey save Nigeria anything. You think all these cases they're claiming to be cured are truly cured for real? You think they total number of cases that will be recorded are actually the total number of people with the virus in this country? 40% will have this virus but will still stay at home thinking it's something else. That's the reason why it spread so fast in NY & NJ. I had someone who started complaining about shortness of breath about two months ago even before the virus went all popular in the media. They were already 100s of people with the virus before lockdown was called on in the states. Let's hope that as we are truly thinking Nigeria government is handling this thing so well, let be it just that. 25% of people with the virus can go a while without showing symptoms. Nigeria's isolation is period is 14days while the US is 21days. That's why we have people testing positive today and then negative tomorrow. I spoke with someone in the Illinois last night, she knew she already had the symptoms of the virus but didn't just want to confirm that she did, until yesterday when she went to the ER. People can survive with the virus thinking its just flu or one thing or the other. That's why I'm personally calling for the extension of this lockdown in Nigeria
Travel / Re: COVID-19: Onyeama Says 200 US-based Nigerians Are Willing To Be Evacuated by ZikZikZik: 8:15am On Apr 09, 2020
Pure Lies, unless of course they're the ones who have already been gunning to come back home for long enjoy don't have the resources. I have like 8 friends and family there and they all agree on one thing. Lockdown is far easier over there than over here, and Nigeria could potentially have more cases but people in Nigeria don't know how to go to hospital. So there's possibilities of still having more cases even after Nigeria lifts their lockdown

Business / My Current Fishy Experience WTH Nipost Right Now by ZikZikZik: 5:51pm On Mar 07, 2020
Hi. I had a phone sent from the USA via USPS to Nigeria. It was said to have landed and departed Lagos Nigeria on the 21 Feb 2020. But ever since then it never made it to its destination. I wrote NiPost customer care service, initially they declined having custody of the package but later admitted they had at their delivery location at Asaba as at 04/03/2020, usually it takes 2days to ship from their delivery location at asaba to my local post office. Yesterday I got a call from the local post office guy who claimed I had a package and requested I come pick it up with a fee of #14,600. I questioned the price being on the high side but then he said the package was was from the US and the content was a phone, which is why the price seemed high. l agreed and asked if they were open on Saturday, he said No, but since he wasn’t leaving town he could attend to me if I called him before coming to the post office to collect it.. I called him earlier today as suggested by him but there were inconsistencies in his replies, he started to ask if he called me yesterday and even said he wasn’t sure if the package was available. I asked him to confirm and call me back, he didn’t. So I went to the post office, of course it was closed, called the guy again and he claimed he had checked the office but he couldn’t find any package like that. I asked why, he said they must have canceled it and I asked for a way forward, he said there was nothing I could do since it was canceled. That meant my package was gone. Has anyone ever experienced something similar before, what step did you take in resolving it?

Honestly it’s complicated, because once I start to notice inconsistencies I begin to get more careful, I’ve had experiences with money and as the junior I just kept mute to keep the family together but I can’t afford to lose 360k worth phone this time around. That’s why I’m thinking of sticking with DHL since I’d have a tracking number and will know exactly what’s going on. The only thing I’m worried about is the part where he talked about them seizing it, I want to know how often that happens and if it’s just something that’s temporary, more like they’re not completely seizing the parcel but just requesting money for you to get it...

Very true.

Why won't you trust or believe your brother?
The whole circumstance is funny.
Usually with things like this he gives it someone else coming to Nigeria, but all of a sudden nobody’s coming to Nigeria. We decided to DHL last week, he didn’t, then from the blues he offers this, which involves a 3rd party. I mean, with a 3rd party involved, anything can go wrong and then it’s gone.

Back to your comment: Is that they seize your package completely or just request you pay some money and if you’ve experienced, like how much was it?

I am suspecting my brother is up to something funny. He lives in the United States. I bought an iPhone worth $1000 direct from Apple and had it sent to him. He’s been stalling with regards to sending it to Nigeria for over 2months now. Finally we agreed on using DHL but he just texted me saying. A friend told him that it’ll get seized in Lagos and then they’ll request I sort them out(probably money). So he offered a suggestion that he’ll send it through cargo to someone in Lagos and then that person will have it sent to me in return. So I’m confused here, should I go stick with DHL or go along with his suggestions. Please I need suggestions ASAP. Thanks
