The pastor in charge of Hephzibah Assembly of all Nations International, located at 2 Arogbo Lane, off Odunbaku Street, Iju Ishaga, Pastor Solomon Eze, 32, a native of Eka, Delta State, South-South Nigeria, has been sent to prison for indecently assaulting an 11-year old girl in Iju Ishaga, a suburb of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria. Pastor Eze was alleged to have told the mother of the victim that there is an arrow of death in her house and she must move out to avoid death. The woman moved into the church with her children to stay and Pastor Eze, according to the complainant, indecently assaulted and also impregnated her 11-year-old daughter. Trouble started when the woman noticed some strange behaviour by her daughter who complained of stomach pain and showed signs of malaria. According to the mother, she contacted a nurse who then treated her for malaria, but the sickness continued until she underwent a scan and it was discovered that she was pregnant. When the mother asked who was responsible, she said it was Pastor Eze. It was discovered that the girl was two months pregnant and when pressed further, she revealed that Pastor Eze gave her holy water to drink and also gave her a red substance to rub on her face. She added that she became unconscious only for her to see Eze on top her. When she wanted to scream, she said he used his hand to cover her mouth before having sex with her, and told her she will die if she tells anyone. The matter was reported at Iju Police Station and after investigation Pastor Eze was arraigned at a Snr Magistrates’ Court, Abule Egba. The prosecutor, Inspector Rachael Williams, told the court that sometime in August, 2014, Pastor Eze unlawfully and indecently assaulted the victim by forcing her to drink what he described as holy water and gave her a red substance that looked like blood to rub on her face. He pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge and the presiding magistrate, Mr. T.A. Elias, ordered him to be remanded in prison custody pending the advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution and adjourned the case till January 2015.

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is deliberately planning to shut out Christians in the country from voting in the 2015 general elections. The President of CAN, Ayo Oritsejafor, who stated this at the association’s national executive council meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, said he was suspicious of a sinister motive by the Commission following its poor handling of the distribution of the permanent voters’ cards. He, however, warned that Christians would resist such a plan if the Commission was truly harbouring it just as he appealed to faithful to register and vote in other to participate in governance. Mr. Oritsejafor did however not substantiate his claims. He did not say exactly how the electoral body is shutting out Christians and how it is failing to issue them cards. He only said, “I want to say passionately to Nigerians, go and get your voters’ cards. I want to appeal to INEC to double up. Our people must register and have their voters’ cards. “I hope INEC is not doing something deliberate here in order to prevent Christians from voting. I hope Professor Attahiru Jega can hear me. We must all vote and vote wisely.” The clergyman also warned the Boko Haram sect to end their terrorist activities in the North East region, adding that the association was ready to meet senior Muslim clerics with a view to ending the insurgency and unprovoked attack on Christians and churches. He demanded that fifth columnists among security agencies, which allegedly are sabotaging government’s war against insurgency, should be fished out and dismissed. According to him, the nation’s territories that had been taken over by the dreaded Boko Haram sect are predominantly populated by Christians who he said were no longer safe. Mr. Oritsejafor restated that the insurgents were waging a religious war against Christians, adding that he had remained a critic of the satanic activities of the group. “What is happening in the North-east is unacceptable,” he said. “What is happening there is unacceptable to us. Christians are the main victims. We are not saying that other people are not affected. But Christians are the ones affected more. All the places where Boko Haram has foisted their flags are dominated by Christians.” “They have taken over Mubi in Adamawa state which is dominated by Christians. Somebody will now tell me this is not religion. Who is fooling who? Nigerians should accept that we have a problem,” the leader of Christian community in Nigeria stated. Again, Mr. Oritsejafor did not provide facts and figures to back his claim that adherents of a particular religion have been more on the receiving end of the Boko Haram insurgency. The CAN president however called on Nigerians to pray to God to put an end to the mindless killings. He said he would not join other Nigerians who had created names for themselves by constantly criticising the military, but would continue to ask the leadership of the military to fish out saboteurs if the war against terror must be won. He said, “All well meaning Nigerians must pray and continue to pray. We must pray. I will not join those condemning our security agencies. They are Nigerians. Women are losing their husbands and children are losing their fathers. I want to challenge the military. They can do better. They must continue to fish out those sabotaging their efforts. Those people should be expelled. They are in all the security agencies. “No matter the intention you have, if you have people working against you, you will not succeed. There are too many people in the system working against the system. Why should these kind of things be happening? Innocent people are being killed. It’s too much. Enough is enough,” Mr. Oritsejafor told the audience. Mr. Oritsejafor also reminded the Federal Government and other Nigerians of the need to adopt new approach in the war against Boko Haram, noting that the use of force alone could not end the insurgent activities. According to him, “Even though I have said the military must continue to work harder, guns and bullets alone will not save this problem. Boko Haram is an ideology. Let us not run away from it. You do not defeat an ideology with guns and bullets. You defeat an ideology with a superior ideology. Boko Haram will not listen to me. “I want to make an appeal to our Muslim clerics and Muslim political leaders to come together and see how they can help us solve this problem. They have the solution. There are some muslim scholars Boko Haram members respect. To a large extent, that is the only way out. “As members of CAN, we are ready to meet with them. I believe in progressive dialogue. This is my strong appeal. I want to appeal to those at the grassroots. This connects to the leaders. The leaders should talk to those at the grassroots. They should give reliable intelligence to our security agents. Please, do not harbour these people. They are not fighting for you. Expose them. While noting that there were journalists at the meeting, the cleric asked them to pass the message to the relevant authorities. He said Nigerians would like to have a better country where everyone was equal and have respect for the constitution. In fact, we want one constitution where everyone will follow. Those saying Boko Haram is not religious are deceiving themselves. “We want a Nigeria where everyone is safe. We want a Nigerian where a man is not judged by his religion. That is the Nigeria we all want. If we want one united Nigeria, we must all pay the price for it.” Mr. Oritsejafor called on the international community to assist Nigeria and its people to surmount the current challenges. He said, “I believe as bad as the situation is, with God, all things are possible. I know that there is God. He will not forsake us. We have restrained our people so much and we will continue to restrain them. But I beg Nigerians to not let this continue. These are dangerous and serious times. “I was reading a report from a priest in Borno of how churches have been destroyed. I wonder why the international community is not saying anything. Is this not human rights violation? We call on government, NEMA, NGOs, the international community. We need help. Our people are dying. Come and help us.” Premium Times Nov 06, 2014 |
Mubi, the biggest commercial town in Adamawa state, was thrown into chaos the day Boko Haram descended on them and the people found themselves running for their lives. The terrorists shot sporadically, killing a lot of people while those who could escape jumped into any available car to run to safety. Christians, Muslims, Igbos, Yorubas, Tivs, Hausas and any tribe or religion, jumped onto any vehicle that was headed outside the town. Soldiers scampered onto trucks with civilians, begging to be saved, hundreds of people who could not get a vehicle ran into the hills. In their frantic effort to stay alive, no one paid attention to anybody's religion or ethnicity before asking them for help or helping them to stay alive. It was a community of people, united by their desire to escape the common enemy that hunted them all without discrimination. Ethnicity and religion vanished, all they were left with was their humanity. Those climbing the hills stayed together, helping one another stay on their feet as they all tried to survive. The most interesting part of the narrative is that the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh is from the same town of Mubi. It has been reported that few hours before the attack, helicopters flew in and evacuated his family members from the town. The chief of Defence staff by the way, is the most senior military officer in Nigeria and he controls the army, navy and air force. Before that sad day, someone from Mubi would have boasted that the Chief of Defence Staff is from their home town. But on the day that it mattered the most, he evacuated only his family members and abandoned everyone else to their fate. It means he had information of the impending attack and as the most senior military commander, he did not fly into the town to lead his men to battle to defend his community. He quietly saved only his family and left even the soldiers without an inspiring commander to motivate them to engage the terrorists and defend his community. One lesson all Nigerians must learn from this story is that as a people, all we have is our neighbours. When you need some help at home, you knock on the door of your neighbour. The President, Governor, Senator or Minister is not there to help you. Why then should you continue to fight your neighbour because of a man or woman who cares only about his own family? Our elites may deceive us about sharing the same religion or ethnicity with us, but time and again, they have proven that they do not care. We have been fools, killing one another on the basis of religion and ethnicity while they stay united across all the divides and plunder our wealth. The time has come for us to rise, educate one another and unite to fight our biggest common enemy. The politicians are our enemies and not the poor struggling men and women in our neighbourhoods. What now will the people of Mubi boast about as the gain of having their son as the Chief of Defence Staff? If you go to Otueke where Jonathan comes from, there are many people who live in excruciating poverty! There is still a lot of poverty and suffering in the home towns of all our Governors, Ministers, Parliamentarians and former Presidents, while they and their families live in scandalous affluence. The Minister of petroleum spent over 10 billion Naira on a private jet. That money can end the poverty of several communities in her state. Stella Oduah bought two cars with 225 million Naira while there are people in her home town who can't afford 500 Naira to feed their family in a day. The time to throw away the sentiments is now!Support only a man or woman who has a just heart and will serve everyone and every community regardless of if they come from there or not. The moment anyone begins to talk to you about religion or ethnicity, reject him summarily! We need leaders who will unite us because our shared humanity is greater than any differences between us.And if someone does something wrong or fails in governance, do not support them simply because they're your own. ONE LOVE NIGERIA!!! |
opiaoku:Why not till your father die? Is Buhari your problem? |
ARKdiscloser7:You forgot to shoulder the responsibility on those that doubted the chibok kidnap right from inception (GEJ & Co.) Is the president not the C in C that is responsible to protect me, you & the people you mentioned above. If you like hate APC for the rest of your life, they must make the changes that you & the enemies of this country wouldn't like. What even makes you to think that APC is an Islamic Party? Even if it is, that is their fundamental human right (Freedom of Association/Religion). That is exactly what people like you have preached (religious sentiments) during the 2011 general election, which made people to vote for GEJ out of sympathy. It shall not work in 2015. We need change! We need APC! We need Buhari for Change! |

I hope all APC supporters will wake up and see what am seeing in the futureFor me APC is a party that has come to deliver Nigeria. I hope all PDP supporters will wake up and see what I'm saying in the future. My simple question is that, why is it that whenever a case of corruption comes up, u always hear PDP members mentioned. Corruption in the National Assembly (PDP), Governors (PDP), Local Gov't Chairmen (PDP), Councillors (PDP), even Ministers under PDP President. We really need change coz it's constant. APC CHANGE!!! |
