chrisooblog:It is just to balance the books. He won't even have 5 starts at Brighton. Dude is not EPL quality. He has heavy first touch, not quick enough and he is very light to contest with EPL defenders. Onyekuru that was far better than him didn't make it not to talk of Chukwueze limited appearances at Fulham. |
TheSuperNerd:Iwobi against Tanzania Defensive contributions- 0 Tackles (won)- 0 (0) Interceptions- 0 Clearances- 0 Blocked shots- 0 Recoveries- 3 Ground duels (won)- 3 (1) Fouls-1 Dribbled past- 0 Iwobi against Tunisia Defensive contributions-1 Tackles (won)- 0 (0) Interceptions-1 Clearances- 0 Blocked shots- 0 Recoveries- 5 Ground duels(won)- 2 (0) Dribbled past- 2 From the way Iwobi plays, he doesn't tackle anybody. He is afraid of being carded. Anything just walk pass him. Making tackles or any physical contact at all is forbidden to him. Watch him closely you will see. He jogs after an opponent, once he got very close, he would pause & that's it. The opponent is free to continue. |
Do you know that the Nigerian player who lost the most possessions in the match between Nigeria and Tanzania was left back Zaidu Sanusi — he reportedly lost possession 14 times. That figure made him statistically the most frequent possession loser for Nigeria in that game, including in the opposition half. |
Why do people always say Simon is a one trick pony, when Chukwueze can't shoot with his right foot, Osimhen, lose easy chances and score the hard ones & is mostly offside, Zaidu can't cross, Osayi too is mostly poor defending, but do you know that Alex Iwobi in midfield in the Tanzania game, never dribbled past any player, never drove forward with the ball, never tackled, never intercepted any passes, but gave a Motm performance by making passes with the smallest of spaces. what will happen when he is quickly closed down by the opposition? Will he attempt to dribble , or drive forward with the ball, tackle, and intercept passes? |
youtu.be/lnABBC5sHCc?feature=shared Babatunde Akinsola will be a good addition to the SE. With an advantage of using both feet. Something Chukwueze is lacking in his game. |
ThunderFireAgba:Ryan, the Blackburn guy, is good as a RWB and mostly on the offensive. But as a full back, i will still sort of pick osayi above him. Nff should have gone for femi seriki. who is more defensively composed. They should have added guys like onaiwu, otele, agba & akinsola to bring in fresh breadth of competition to the team. |
Phillip Otele and Peter Agba (left footed midfielder) are good enough to have earned a call up to the National team. They have the talents to bring extra force to the team. Their not being invited all these while speaks volume of the criteria for invitation in the National team. It should be what you possess & can add and not whether you played in the Serie A, La liga, Ligue Un or Epl. Back in the days, Odion Ighalo was quite a talent but beacause he was not in the big league, they never cared and never invited him. |
Sugarboyy:National team handlers should consider Peter Agba to play iwobi's role in the SE. And move iwobi to the wings. He needs to move closer to the opposition box. That's where he strives. |
Nigeria's chances of making it out of the group stage in the forthcoming Nations cup is very slim. They are either going to draw or lose to Tunisia & Uganda and probably draw against Tanzania. Tunisia & Uganda have strong h2h against Nigeria & they are still a very good sides. The two being whom they are, the eagles will struggle big time. |
Karlovich:He moves & shoots like Osaze Odemwengie. He is a star in the making. I use to admire his brother Miguel skills, i didn't know he's got more talents than him. |
Goke7:Lookman was not tracking back to reduce the pressure on the left flank mounted by marsielle players. Same issue with him in the Super Eagles. Same reason simon will always be preferred ahead of him there. |
Super Eagles of Nigeria will struggle against team like Benin. They are physically strong, quick and presently determined for world cup qualification glory. Players like Simon or Chulwueze must bring their best performance otherwise they will be nowhere to be found. Most especially Chukwueze and his glaring inabilities with the right foot on the right wing and stamina. |
The game of football is unpredictable. But South Africa picking 6 points againt their regular customer Zimbabwe and Rwanda in South Africa is almost 99% loading. Except they decided to bottle things up. Rwanda will not be twice lucky. |
The Nff have moved beyond world cup qualifications. They know the eagles are no guarantee for qualification due to their inconstencies. Nff are now building towards Afcon & friendlies to generate few change. On the squad list, the SE is not a team with robust ball playing midfielders with an for goals and has never dominate any team in midfield in the past decade. They concede possessions most times to the opponents and hit them with counter attacks from the wings. Especially the left wing. Rohr used that tactics a lot. Our national teams play mostly through the wings. Be it in the U17, U20, U23 & the SE. The coaches mostly scout for fast, strong & skillful players on the left wing or right wing. That is why producing ball playing midfielders has been an herculean task so far. The mindset is to spot the runners closest to the opponent that is why we will always see the long or high balls over the midfield. *Why is Zaidu Sanusi not listed. Bruno Onyemaechi has not been playing in Greece so far. |

I still think this is our best 11. Nnadozie Ohale Demehin Oladipo Plumptre Ayinde Uchiebe Echiegini Ajibade Ordega Oshoala |
There is a guy by the name David Akintola playing for Rizespor in Turkey. Apart from Osimhen in Turkey, he has been an impressive Nigerian player i have seen in recent time. Age apart, dude is good quality. A guy like that will add more quality to the national team on the wings. He his quick, strong, and shoot well too. |
Titian22:Well, that was absurd. I thought he was calling him to come and take his jersey outside the pitch if he wanted it so much before the match ends. Because that Senegalese should had been red carded for rough play twice. Though Osimhen also overreacted. |
oloriooko:His defensive abilities against Ghana was very poor. Ayew & co made him looked so amateur. Even Bruno Onyemaechi was so poor. The Ghanaian right back & the Bah Bonsu guy made him looked so poor. Am not surprised he his not in the line up. |
Only God knows the reasons and logics behind NFF calling up players from abroad is all about. They are adding a right footed full back to the national team from Germany when they actually need to fortify the left back position in the national team. A right footed leftback (improvised) will not have the foot convenience of a left footed left back. Felix Agu is right footed, Plays as right or left back. The nff should have gone for decent left footed left back. And the right Felix should had been Uduokhai. |
Daninya33:He needs just two foreign born players in that team to play for Nigeria if they ever agree to at the moment. They are the two that can add something special to the team. Ethan Nwaneri of Arsenal & felix Udokhai of Besiktas. Any other discussion is a jamboree by public officials. There are lot of hungry talents that are abound in the country waiting for aopportunity to showcase their gift. The best Nigerian footballers for the next decades are indeed not foreign born. No specially talented foreign born will leave their country of birth for their parents if they did not feel ignored after the age grade categories especially from the u.k. |
From this our line up. The midfield of Ndidi & Iwobi will make it easier for Rwanda to overrun. Chukwueze and Lookman have poor defensive work rate including iwobi in fighting to recover possession. That our right flank today will be a weak link. Defending set piece is also our weakness. |
Samueltemi337:Lauren in his playing days never played the same position for club & country. Yet was very effective for both Arsenal & Cameroon in the role he was deployed to play. When a player is talented it is not hard to see. Seeing Uche and saying that he's not playing as a midfielder for club is not an excuse, Uche is versatile and it is obvious to see. Our football leaders are too short-sighted and transactional. |
This team list is good but not balanced except we want to console our mind with deceit. In defence, the team is very light with respect to defensive substitution. Personally, except there is an injury concern, Onyeka deserved to be chosen ahead of Yusuf. And Uche be chosen instead of Aribo. Aribo and Papa Daniel are mobile left footed midfielders who played with similar style. But Daniel's physical balance edges Aribo. So, either of the two should have been chosen and most likely Daniel. We have seen Aribo in Eagles and know his stuff. But Daniel could be a new vibe with more hunger and passion. In attack, amongst Sadiq, Boniface, Tolu & Tella. i will simply pick Sadiq who is the most capped amongst them but always falter to impress consistently. Boniface will not get the space & time, Tolu's style is too relaxed for the SE, Tella lacks the 1vs1 skills on the wings expected of a SE winger. |
Subzerooo:Dessers is more experienced & better footballer than Tolu. Even a half fit Onuachu will have more goals than Tolu in the current Genk team he his playing in. Tolu is not better than Dessers and not even close to Onuachu's quality in scoring. Even Boniface is more of showboating. That's why Patrik Schick will continue to keep him on the bench until he improves. |
Goke7:Reason why i never watch S.E again in years. Pass pass cant retain possession. Cant dribble, cant shoot from distance, wastes freekicks, wastes corner kicks & cant defend it either. |
Iwob,i given the chance, either inside the box or outside the box, has a weak shot or poor technique at shooting accurately at goal. This is what i dislike most about him. Dude always always wobble at shooting with aplomb. Just doesn't have it like okocha when it comes to shooting at goal. |
Mujtahida:Moffi can play on the wings. Aribo can also play on the wings. Either of the two can pair Osimhen from the right or the left flank & even swap position with him during the course of the game. Iheanacho can also be effective from the right wing. The coach is spoilt with enough choice to make with respect to wing play in addition to Simon, Musa, Chukwueze & Lookman |
chrisooblog: Typical SE! Can't any of the players drive forward with the ball either from defence to midfield or attack. They are just making predictable & easily interceptible passes. |
When other nations prepping for Afcon are playing known teams with utmost serioisness, our SE are playing unnamed /unknown team in UAE. Recipe for failure showing its ugly head allover. When one hear of the team list alone, of course that team will have little to no victory in them in the Afcon proper. |
