Thanks Mr. X This is the final image. Please ignore the black edges on the 'lightup' text, i'm just too lazy to re-render. Really learnt alot from using 3dsmax.

Well done. It was really fun to watch. |
Interesting, |
What do you mean accept? |
Update:

Hilarious, 'KLM, and even KFC'. Very well done. I was initially distracted by the voice not macthing the old man, but still a great work though. |
Google 'Easy YouTube video downloader' Its an add-on for Firefox. |
@AdamuW , Thanks, I'll keep updating Finished modeling the lantern, I've also gone ahead to texture and perform some test renders. All textures are procedural and I plan not to use GI in this project. The flame is an editable poly with vrayLightmtl. I plan to add some dirt to the glass, it looks too clean. My next update will be the lightbulb and to choose a camera angle. Let me know what you guys think.

I just love 3dsmax , max has a better curve tool |
Most of the objects are curves with lathe modifier, simple primitives. I'm just trying to rough out the basic shape before I start detailing. I've also attached some reference images I'm using. Hopefully, I should have a complete model later in the morning ![]()

Happy new year cgpeers, this forum has been quite this year. Anyway, I plan to post my wip for a little 3d still that was inspired by lightup nigeria and phcn. The main goal is to create contrast in the composition using an old lantern and a modern light bulb. The first step will be to model the lantern and the light bulb. Then I will focus more on the shading and lighting/rendering. Please your comments are very welcome. I hope the new guys learn one or two from this process. 3Dsmax and vray will be used. |
This should help http://www.aleso3d.com/blog/?p=220 |

^^Interesting |
That's a lot of animation. I'll advice you charge per finished minute. |
The duration is the major factor. Are you planning to charge a client or you need someone to handle the work? |
@dswestman1 what's your current specs? xreakz:It's too large to download. besides i want an original copy. |
I doubt if you will find a 'large' PC gaming community in Nigeria, although there are alot of folks into gaming some even organise weekly LAN games with friends, but most don't know where to find a large network of other gamers, can't find original PC games to buy. For instance, I've been searching for a copy of Microsoft flight simulatior for a while and i can't find any outlet that sells one. So basically, the availability of PC games is zero. Nice rig you've got there ![]() |
Why not post yours to inspire. Anyway, mine is a dell laptop with Core i7 2630QM, 8gb RAM, Nvidia Geforce 525M - 2Gb, 650Gb HDD, 17.3". I bought it directly from dell in the US and had it sent to Nigeria. |
Get a 400watt power supply or higher. If you get anything lower, your PC might come on but you will be lowering your CPU life-span. |
Played and finished both games and we can't really conclude that one is better than the other. They both have the same vision/idea but different interpretation. By the way i love what DICE did with the graphics: detailed environments, dynamic lighting and those eye candy stuffs which COD lacked, Can't wait to see what COD will release next though. |
There is a similar group (CG spot) already with 30 members.

@greatiby I'm totally impressed with your reel. Hope we start seeing great stuffs come out in this country soon. Which vfx school did you study? |
