@obinna5000 Thanks. @yemo90 The modelling is nice, but i think the lighting/shading needs some attention. Maybe you should reduce the amount of light bouncing around and also try adding texture to the models like grass, road texture and bump maps might help too. |
@victorazy Maya & Mentalray |
Can give more info on the programme pls. |
thanks. just thought i posted a viewport. |
@AdamuW Thanks for the comment. The editing & sound design was really a problem for me, it took a big chunk of the production time. Anyway, can you please recommend materials i can study. |
@uchenageme the initial setup took 1 day. but ofcourse the client will always make changes. 3ds max is not complex, it only looks complex because of the many buttons on the interface. if you really want to do realistic stuff you should pick up max. |
@Behind bobo nice and clean render. |
i guess this was based on one of your personal life experiences eh lolyes! before i started using close-up instead of maxima ![]() Thanks anyway. |
Mehn the quality is superb! |
Hi guys, i want to share my lastest 3D project. Hope you like it. ![]() <<---------------------------------------------------------------------------->> |

This was a project i worked on last year for the uba branch at silverbird plaza (abuja). The place should be complete now i think. Done in max & vray.

Impressive reel. i like the intro&outro . Nice one man. ![]() |
This is the reason we shouldn't just copy settings from the internet without understanding why we're adjust what&what. I believe its easier to understand the parameters than having to sit and wait for renders. |
@nd.gfx wat! |
@ na2day I am in the industry and I am passionate about the talent and energy in this country. However I'm also a realist. Nigeria is nowhere close to producing something like Avatar. We're not even close to being part of the production process and delivering a scene in the movie. We just do not have the infrastructure and studios.Not even a shot? lol. You guys can check out the trailer for a new movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBmbd2-7zAI starring Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde. When you watch this trailer, you'll begin to think how come we can't shoot a movie of that quality(i mean the lighting, grading, ) right in this country. It's really disturbs me. |
@melvin wat renderer do u use? |
Omo Wafi wan ja b4 doomsday. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin GrinLMAO. |
@melvi That is not my believe, like i said am looking at it from another perspective. |
have a possible theory for that question based on personal observation and experience. I will theorise that South Africa is achieving its feats because of the presence of non-black race in its population. This is in no way a condemnation of the black race. I have observed this also in predominantly black areas of America as well as in some offices with predominantly black employees. I haven't been able to put a finger on the particular reason but I'm thinking it has something to do with "order" as in orderliness or "process" as in having a laid down process for achieving things. The black race is smart, brilliant and talented. However, there's still a missing key ingredient that makes even those who are intellectually "lesser" (for lack of a better word) than us to achieve tremendous growth. I'm not supporting the concept of "the black race is cursed" either. It's definitely has to do with the way we approach things. Our way of thinking and acting. My theory could be quantified by the known fact that when a black man is relocated from his "natural habitat" into an habitat where he is greatly influenced by a non-black race, we tend to perform better and achieve better results. NIGERIANS ARE THE BEST IN EVERYTHING but ,Just the right answer to the question. From my personal observations, i've noticed wherever you have the white folks present there's always this orderliness around which in turn brings about good quality. For instance, in the world of computer graphics/movie industry, the white folks are the ones doing well no matter how hard we try to imitate them. In all most everything in this world they are always on top. No doubt a few colored folks are doing well too, Ben Carson for example. Come to think of it we were all created the same day(according to what we all know) what were our great fathers doing when the whites were developing? Well, this is just my opinoin from another perspective. Maybe we are different after all. |
I agree with you guys. But i don't think if we keep depending on the goverment, we'll achieve anything. They are not just reliable. |
I have a suspicion that South African companies will set up Nigerian branches to be closer to one of their largest markets as we outsource so much work to them. It makes good business senseBeginning of some serious competiton + growth. The Nigeria based studios will be forced to step up their quality to survive. It will be a good thing afterall. |
I'm more worried about when the general Nigerian social/business climate becomes easier and more cost effective to operate in. Cheap high speed internet, infrastructure, power, security, availability to low interest, long term business loans, a better standard of life for the majority of the population the list goes on.I don't think all this things are avialiable in kenya but they are doing better animation-wise compare to Nigeria. Let's take a look at South africa, why do we think they're doing better than other african countries? i really don't know the answer. I strongly believe the industry will grow in Nigeria, but for how long are we going to wait, another thing we should consider is a community for CG artists where we can all come together discuss and plan on how the industry can move forward and how we can help each other become better. It would really go a long way. |
Really nice to see the industry is growing in africa. Do you think there's hope for the animation industry in nigeria? http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/8476571.stm |
dont know if this might help, check d youtube if thats the effect u're talkin abt. http://www.videocopilot.net/products/twitch/ (sure u can find a way 2 download it )https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zInzjq6N3xE |
saw it too. i'll like to know if its one of those ads they ship to south africa. |
I agree with everything you guys stated about character design & visual style. I guess the main lesson learnt from this small project is to never jump into production without adequate planning, which we suffered from on this project. I really appreciate the comments & crits and I'll definitely pass this to the house. Thanks. |
@Kemjisuper Thanks. @xothermik y u run leave us? lol @sylvelity will check it out |
@spyemy i really appreciate your comments, thanks. Good you mentioned the blur, the strong blur was just a way of(cheating ) hiding the mechanical animation of the background characters. |
