samsung galaxy sl is an android 2.2.1 MOBILE DEVICE aka phone. The media player you are referring to is just that, a stand alone 'media player' with wifi only. It lack the ability to make or receive calls our send messages so its like an ipod touch or lets say...an amazon kindle.
So, they are not the same thing I.e phone and media player.
Hope I have cleared d confussion.
