Romance / Letter To My Future Wife by zutu(m): 11:23am On Oct 18, 2014
Letter to my future wife.
Hello, my future wife.
Whether you are reading this
before you meet me, or stumble
upon it after, I want you to know
a few things.
The reason I am writing this
today is because I can’t stop
thinking about you, and I can’t
stop myself from imagining how
happy we will be. Let this letter
be a promise to you that I will
do my best to be the man I want
to be for you.
I may not yet know all of the
difficulties that come with a
lifetime commitment, but I have
enough relationship experience
to know what I want and how I
picture my life with the person I
will commit to: you.
Those around me are a
continuous source of education
and inspiration on how I want
our relationship to be. So here
and today, I vow to try my best
to do the following:
I promise to do my best to make
you beam daily, so count on
many surprises. Your smile will
be my priority. I get weak knees
when anybody smiles, so just
imagine the effort I will make to
be the source of yours.
I promise I will always look at
you with the same adoration as I
did the moment I realized I
loved you.
I promise to try to ignite the
same sparkle in your eyes I see
when you’re surprised, inspired,
motivated or when you are
about to lean in to kiss me.
I promise to hold your hand
when we’re 80 years old with the
same liveliness that I did when I
crossed that line to hold yours
for the first time. I vow never to
let the excitement of dating me
die down; I will surprise you
with the location, the reason or
the activity itself.
I promise to keep you guessing
where we’re going next. I
promise to do my best always to
interest you. I will keep
reinventing myself, gaining new
hobbies, new knowledge and
new interests to keep you —
and myself — entertained.
I promise to have new stories to
share with you, and maybe I’ll
retell the best ones again if you
insist. Our friendship will
continue to grow over the years.
I vow to challenge you to
challenge yourself for the better;
to make you think differently. I
promise to try to feed off of
your illuminating energy that
will inspire me to do the same
with myself. I will do my best to
ensure that being bored never
crosses your mind.
Even in grief and darkness, I
promise to show you the
different shades of the dark, and
to help you find the tiny rays of
light that are always there if you
seek them. After all, there’s
always worse than worst and
better than best; everything is
relative.
I promise to kiss you throughout
our life together, with the same
passion I had the first time I felt
my lips on yours. When we kiss,
I want it to slow down time —
just you and me engulfed in our
feelings.
I promise to play the games you
like to play.
I promise to do my best to
remain physically attractive for
you, and I will do my best to be
healthy in order to keep up with
our children and grandchildren;
someone has got to teach them
Muay Thai kickboxing. I’ll train
you, too; I want you to know
how to fight and defend
yourself, just don’t use it against
me.
I promise to help you to be
healthy, both physically and
mentally. I will cook and clean
for us. Expect the best breakfast:
traditional Armenian tomato
and pepper omelets, followed
by fruit salad with… well, I can’t
give all the secrets out.
I promise to strive to be a role
model for our children. I want
both you and them to see me as
a source of motivation. I want to
inspire them in the same way
that my father inspires me.
I promise to do my best to love
your family as you love them
and to be by their side as much
as I am by yours.
I promise to always listen to you
when you simply just want to be
heard; when you want someone
to vent to about something or
when you want advice.
I will listen to you especially
when you don’t feel comfortable
sharing your thoughts with
anybody else, and to the things
you try to tell me when you’re
not even speaking. I promise to
always listen.
During our life together, I
promise to make sure that you
feel as though you are the
center of the household — I
know you will be — and I will
always try to show my
appreciation for you because of
that. Being the man of the
house is nothing without a
woman.
I promise never to let my guard
down in taking care of us. I know
you won’t be one to be satisfied
with the bare minimum.
I promise to do everything that I
can for you without taking away
from your independence
physically, intellectually or
emotionally.
I promise to create family
traditions and to make sure that
your legacy lives forever through
our children.
I promise to encapsulate the
moment when I realize that I
am in the most magnetic,
amorous and erotic love with
you, not to let that feeling
dissipate to the best of my
ability and to relive it with you
constantly, always.
Yours sincerely, Your Future

Politics / Colleague Addentifies Beheaded Air Force Commander by zutu(m): 6:19pm On Oct 04, 2014
[print]

chimda hedima

| credits: Facebook

The Defence Headquarters has disputed the authenticity of the latest Boko Haram video showing a captured Nigerian Airforce jet pilot, captured and beheaded by the insurgents, but the Nigerian Army Support Group on Facebook has already announced the death of the pilot, describing him as “a true Nigerian hero.”

The groups says, “It is with deep regret that we announce the death of a true Nigerian hero, Wing Commander Chimda Hedima (1975-2014).

“This is his story. Read it, share it. This man was a hero of the highest order.

“On 11/09/14, a company of NA soldiers attempted to overrun a BH position in Borno. Due to the low altitude, the plane suffered significant damage from the terrorists’ gunfire. Wing Commander Hedima and his partner realised that they were going to crash.

“They, instead of hurriedly parachuting to safety within Nigerian controlled territory, chose to embark on a mission to destroy as many terrorists and their weapons as possible. They parachuted out at the last minute but not before ensuring their plane slammed into a column of terrorists; 63 Boko Haram members were killed as a result of their bravery.

“Wing Commander Hedima was captured. On 12/09/14, he was killed.

“He chose Nigeria, he chose all of us. We cannot forget him. Please share his story. His name should be known by everyone.

“Rest in peace Commander, we are grateful. May you find eternal peace. Thank you for your service.”

Since the group posted the announcement on its group page, tributes have not ceased pouring in.

Olatunde Eyitayo Titus, writes, “Great soldier indeed….R I P…..Why has it taken the military long time to inform Nigerians about this?….We saw this in the news that BH beheaded a pilot b4 the military is telling us this, this morning….Horrible…..Young man,you were really brave …”

Gabriel Henry, writes, “RIP, the brave one…. but I think the Defence Headquarters should be telling us the whole truth so that if there is where the citizens can help, enough of this self denials, what’s actually going on? What happened to your intelligence gathering mechanism to nip the horror in the bud? Where is the giant in you? How come a small fragment & untrained (band) like Boko Haram is bringing you to your knees?… go! go hard Nigerian military! We are solidly behind you!!!!!!!!!”

Zubby Okonkwo writes, “Your sacrifice for this Nation will not be forgotten in a hurry. Even if the present crop of leadership fails to recognise you, the Nigerian masses do. Our hearts go to your loved ones you left behind and may God comfort them. You participated in the struggle to eradicate our land from these brigands of evil. The only language they understand is force and you were one of our force men who daily toil to give us peace. To our brother, our hero, our friend, a true Nigerian, a black man, I will not say good bye to you as your memories will live long but I would rather say safe journey till we all meet to part no more.”

Ali Sunoma Alhaji, writes, “A gallant hero worthy of emulation by all Nigerians not only the military. That way Boko Haram will be afraid of every Nigerian whether armed or not.”

Politics / Boko Haram: Okorocha’s Registration Rumpus In The Senate by zutu(m): 1:54am On Jul 10, 2014
The reported plan by the Rochas
Okorocha administration to
register northerners in the state
has raised a fuss between the
regime in Owerri and the
Senate. Was it really misdirected
fire or what?
BY JOHNBOSCO AGBAKWURU
Governor Rochas Okorocha of
Imo State has been famed for
some weird policies since he
came to power nearly three
years ago. His latest policy of
registering northerners in the
state has, however, received
blistering criticisms from several
quarters including the Senate.
The proposed policy was
reported to be part of the
administration’s attempt to
protect life and property in the
state following the upsurge in
the Boko Haram insurgency.
The scheme it was learnt was
originally designed by members
of the Hausa community in the
state to keep away people with
strange ideologies from their
midst. The scheme it was learnt
was bought over by an aide of
the governor who is himself a
non-indigene, a development
that seemed to give it
government approval.
The government was as such
quick to deny any role in it.
Despite the denial, this
purported policy has attracted
the wrath of the Senate and
especially, the governor’s most
formidable opponents in the
legislative chamber.
The first to express disgust over
the purported policy was the
Deputy Senate Leader, Senator
Abdul Ningi from Bauchi Central
who brought a motion to that
effect last Wednesday to
condemn the policy.
In his motion titled: “The
Issuance of Identification Card to
Northerners residing in Imo
State – Urgent call for policy
reversal”, he argued that the
policy contravenes the
provisions of section 41(1) and
42(1) of the 1999 constitution of
the Federal Republic of Nigeria
as amended which guarantee
amongst others, free movement
of Nigerians from any part of the
country to the other and right of
residence without any inhibition
or condition whatsoever.
Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-
Egba in support, described the
policy as wrongheaded,
unconstitutional and
discriminatory and lampooned
the governor for even
contemplating such a policy at
this level of our nationhood.
He said: “ Yes, right away,
Nigeria is passing through the
most difficult period of our
history even worse than the civil
war going by the kind of anxiety
enveloping the country presently
as a result of the Boko Haram
insurgency but that should not
be used as a licence by any
governor or anybody to go out of
our constitutional provisions in
coming up with a policy to tackle
the problem.
Also condemning the policy,
Senator James Manager, PDP
Delta South stated that the
policy was evil and dangerous
for the survival of Nigeria as a
Nation.
Senator Ahmed Lawan, APC,
Yobe North while threatening
retaliation by the North said:
“The policy is abominable,
unacceptable and certainly
driven to cause disunity in the
country. We Northerners will not
accept this. If you do this to us
in Imo, we shall definitely
retaliate.”
His threat drew the quick
interjection of the Deputy
Senate President, Senator Ike
EKweremadu who presided over
the session as he called on the
Senators to debate the motion
as patriotic Nigerians and not as
senators from the South or
North.
What appeared to be the worst
salvo on Okorocha came from
Senator Chris Anyanwu, a one
time political ally of the
governor, both of whom were
elected in 2011 on the platform
of the All Progressive Grand
Alliance, APGA, in Imo State
before they separately dumped
the party.
Senator Anyanwu, Imo East, who
is aiming to take over
Okorocha’s job in 2015 made
good use of the opportunity as
she descended on the governor
to the chagrin of some other
senators especially those of the
APC.
She described the governor as a
stranger who has brought shame
to the people of the state and
one who lacked the knowledge
of the country’s constitution,
stressing that the governor’s
action was part of the arrogance
and disrespect she claimed he is
known for.
She said:“Today, the governor of
Imo State has drawn an unusual
attention to himself because he
failed to respect the
constitutional provision of free
movement, free association,
free worship which are well
cherished by our people.
“Our people are the best
travelled and most liberal
minded in the World. We are
highly accommodating. We are a
people that are very friendly to
the extent that we have a
settlement for the Hausa people
in Owerri who have been living
there for generations.
“We have somebody who has
brought insult to the people of
Imo State. This is somebody who
does not believe in the
constitution. Our people are well
travelled, liberal and friendly.
Peaceful coexistence is in the
marrow of the people of Imo
State.
“We have lived with Hausa
people for many generations
some of them speak better Igbo
than I do. I even sponsor some
of them to Mecca. But suddenly,
you have someone from
somewhere, who is not from us,
who is not for us and does not
believe in or respect the
constitution.
“He does not believe in advice.
He is alone and all alone, there
are many court decisions that he
has refused to obey.
“We cannot plead on his behalf
because we did not believe in
his policy and he is a governor
that doesn’t listen to the advice
of his people.”
Her tirade forced Senator Chris
Ngige, APC, Anambra Central to
raise a Point of Order against
perceived use of offensive and
insulting language on the
governor.
Tying up the proceedings,
Senator Ekeremadu while
thanking senators for being
patriotic in their contributions
lamented that ethnicity still
remains one of the problems
affecting Nigeria’s drive for
nationhood.
Upon the motion as amended,
the Senate called on President
Goodluck Jonathan to direct
security agencies not to partner
with Imo state government in
the implementation of the policy
and also urged the Imo state
government to rescind the
policy.
Following the Senate resolution,
the Senior Special Assistant on
Media to the governor, Mr. Sam
Onwuemeodo denied the
existence of the policy.
He stated, “Governor Okorocha’s
government has not begun to
register northerners in the state
and does not have any plan to
do that.” He accused the
governor’s political opponents of
being behind the report as he
stated, especially where those
behind the malicious claim could
not mention where the claimed
registration involving human
beings could not be done in
vacuum.”
He stated, “We know those
behind this blackmail. The same
people who deceived Charley
Boy into action of absurdity
were also behind the blackmail
in the Senate. They used the
senators because the three
senators in the senate are all of
the PDP and all governorship
aspirants who want to replace
governor Okorocha. Source www.vanguardngr.com/2014/07/boko-haram-okorochas-registration-rumpus-senate/

INSURGENCY: Army finds
links to politicians in Balmo

By Emma Ujah, Abuja Bureau
Chief
ABUJA—Some prominent
politicians are presently being
interrogated following the
discovery of their identity cards
and other incriminating items
when troops destroyed
terrorists’ camp in Balmo Forest,
Bauchi State last week.
The Coordinator of the National
Information Centre, NIC, Mr.
Mike Omeri, told newsmen in
Abuja, yesterday: “Following the
last successful operation carried
out by security forces to
dislodge terrorists from their
forest bases in Darazo Local
Government Area end of Balmo
Forest, some politicians are
currently being interrogated
following the recovery of some
sensitive registration cards and
other materials of a prominent
political party that were found in
the possession of some of the
suspects arrested.
“Those who are being
interrogated are prominent
politicians belonging to a
frontline political party. Troops
even recovered the identity
cards of some of the politicians.”
He, however, declined to
mention any particular party.
Faults pro-Chibok girls groups
Omeri, who has been
coordinating information
regarding the efforts towards
finding the Chibok schoolgirls,
decried the activities of some
organisations and individuals
championing the cause of the
abducted girls as, according to
him, they were aiding
insurgency in the country.
He said: “Some of these groups
are augmenting and
supplementing terrorists by their
activities because they create
diversion for security operatives
from promptly responding to
insurgent activities.”
Responding to a question, Army
spokesman, Major General Chris
Olukolade insisted that the
military and other security
agencies were getting results in
their fight against terror.
He noted that the regular arrests
of terrorists and their backers
were indicative of such results
which should be encouraging to
all Nigerians.
He said: “Nigerians should be
assured that there is hope of
finding and bringing back the
girls; there is hope that the
terrorists will be defeated and
good progress is being made.
“We told you earlier that over
250 sorties have been flown
while President Goodluck
Jonathan once announced that
over 20,000 troops have been
deployed.”
‘BringBackOurgirls deceives
public’
Spokesperson for the
Department of State Services,
DSS, Mrs. Marilyn Ogar, accused
the BringBackOurGirls
campaigners of turning the issue
into a franchise.
She said: “BringBackOurGirls
movement has become a
franchise and security forces
know what they are up to. If it is
an ordinary movement seeking
to pile pressure on government
or security agencies to free
these girls, there will be no need
for the group to begin to have
tags and insist that you must be
registered.
“Security forces also know that
they have bank accounts. We
also know that they want to
simulate a protest march inside
Asokoro Extension in Abuja and
claim that they were doing so
inside Sambi-sa Forest, to be
reported in some foreign media.
Getting security training
“We also know that they brought
in some experts from outside
the country to teach them how
to beat security when they are
demonstrating; to withstand
police teargas and security
operations. We are waiting to
see when these things would
work.
“We also know that they are
dividing themselves into groups
and zones giving each other
specific assignments.
“They were also paying courtesy
calls to money bags to solicit
support. It is getting very
ridiculous, but we are still
watching.
“There is no need to hire people
to come and claim that they
have children among the girls
that were abducted. It has
become a franchise or why
would those involved in the
movement decide to carry out
smear campaign against certain
government officials?
“If we have to fight for our
rights, let us genuinely fight for
our rights by being more
transparent.” Source www.vanguardngr.com/2014/07/insurgency-army-finds-links-politicians-balmo-forest/
