ceejay80s: I bought Golden penny noodles goat meat pepper soup 2weeks ago half carton was 2750 naira , when to buy today and increased to 3100 naira, We the citizens are evil, The main problem isn't the government but the people, It will shock people to know farmers only wear tartarred cloths to disguise but are raking 400-600% percent profit per harvest which is highly unfair |

Love800: Sir. Well-done. Am anxious. Are you trying to say bandits are not worrying farmers? Good evening. They are not. It's only on news on Nairaland bandits are everywhere. All the Fulanis knows that when it's planting season, they vacate the farmlands only to return November after last harvest of the year. |

nedekid: Funny guy. When he sells yam at 1k, how then will he buy rice, tomatoes etc, pay his kid school fees or even buy not a car, but a motorcycle that cost over 1m. OK, he will sell 1000 tubers at 1k each Abi. How will he buy diesel or petrol, enter transport or take his yam to the market for sale? Oga, there is inflation, he has increased running cost and has to increase his prices to match inflation to enable him fund himself. Did I say sell yam at 1k ? Tell me how many yams can you buy consistently at 10k ? |

Cashio: how much is that small NPK now as compared to last year. How much is the labour cost presently. How much do other commodities sell. How much will the yam farmer buy a bag of rice or carton of spaghetti or tomatoes or onions and others in order to also feed his family comfortably from his yam sales......Abi you wan make the yam farmer sell so cheap and then can't afford to plant again because his sales couldn't even afford him food to eat let alone going back to farm. Even at that, do you know farmers make at least 300% per planting season? Continue to listen to their dubious sad tales and keep getting duped |

Insecurity high transportation costs cost of materials such as fertilizer labour and machines and general cost of living have highly impacted purchasing price of yams. The return of subsidy will have an immediate impact on the price shikena Rest, I am setting up my fifth farm. |

WeirdAlien: Last I confirmed somewhere in the north was 7k for a big tuber.
First, you've forgotten how many villagers were killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Benue state - mainly yam farmers. Yam supply has greatly reduced. Then you forgot how many farmers in northern Nigeria have to pay bandits millions of naira before planting and harvesting. Cost of yam (food) production in those places are in all-time high. You also forgot the sudden rise in food transportation costs because of fuel subsidy removal. Now you forget that those farmers would also buy other stuff from the same markets as other people, where inflation has increased all prices. Won't they survive??
If you're indeed a farmer, you would know these things. Be letting them deceive you. I'm with farmers and know all their extornist behaviors you don't know. Continue to fall like mugu |

Beremx: the problem with people like you is that you feign ignorance about security of farmers. Is it to difficult for you to believe that farmers especially those who plant yams can't access their farms? Why did you skip that in the gibberish you just wrote? I'm a farmer. As I write, I am in a farm settlement where I reside fully since last year. I am critiquing as a stake holder not an outsider. Farmers these days want to take advantage of buyers which was never the case in the days of our fore fathers. |

Thieves. Eveyone wants to use their legitimate businesses to dupe people
Yam seedling costs 400 Naira max. So, why should yams sell so costly ?
A plot can accomodate 600 tubers and would only need some table spoons of NPK fron start till harvest, so why the expensive price. Most Nigerians thesedays heartlessly and indiscrimately increases the orice of their products to take advantage of their fellow human beings. Thieves |

The ministers have abandoned the poor completely. And it is written, Jesus looked at the poor among them and had compassion. This can hardly be said of ministries today, the aim of abandoning the poor is to make sure people do not have opportunities for growth to challenge both them and their childrens standings. The same people who grew the ministry woth them from very small beginnings. |

Esude007: it can't, that's why the yield potential of 510 is lower than that of 719 and 649.
From my experience, any crop that stay long before production yield more.
If you check, 510 is an early maturing variety Speaking of which, the yield potential of seeds, is it the wet potential or dry potential ? I.e what is the dry potential of 510 ? |

However, the impending increase in minimum wage is making me scared because of the fear of inflation. How can I retain the value of this money so that it would be able to serve the purpose intended. I don't plan to change it to dollars because it's also risky. I welcome all the advice I can get. Invest it in a business like my farm. I am open to partnership. Have a look

freeman67: Try and learn humbly by not making sarcastic comments before asking questions.
Abuja is like a state. It has the status of a state and Woke is the one in charge. Like all states Governors as their chief security officer, Wike is the chief security officer of Abuja. All the security services and agencies have their heads in charge of Abuja as as they do in all states.
The President is the chief security officer of the entire Nigerian not Abuja. Same for the Service Chiefs and Heads of other security agencies. Their responsibilities transcends Abuja. They are to cover the whole nation.
From the above, I believe you would understand that Wike having his own security meeting is for Abuja alone while the Presidents' security meeting is for the entire Nigeria. You are mad |

Esude007: After ridge making, planting commenced. We used a locally fabricated maize planter.
***With the help of my fellow Agronomist. Mr Chilla, Mr Israel and Mr Monday...
***Using a maize planter makes it easy for u to get the optimum population.
***Maize population plays an important role in the yield.
***Let's do the math.
If u have let's say 10,000 stands of maize on your farm, and a maize cob weigh 350g after good Agronomic practice. After shelling it can reduce to 250g.
*If u convert to kg, u have 0.25kg.
*Multiply by 10,000 stands..... 2500kg
*100kg makes a bag... So u can get 25 bags of 100kg
**It was a very tedious task as u can see from (picture 2) that Agronomist Chilla was very tired from the pushing exercise.
****Agriculture is very hard to start, but if you start the right way you will become UNSTOPPABLE*** While a regular maize cob can have the weight you indicated in this analysis, can the cob of 510 match this fact given that this variety isn't best for weight but speed ? |
