Doguwa: I remain APC, I will be in APC for life

He said those alleging he was set to defect from the party were peddling what he called “catastrophic fake news”.

Ado Doguwa who represents Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency of Kano State in the House of Representatives spoke when he paid a solidarity visit to the APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in Abuja on Sunday.

The House Majority Leader visited Tinubu in company with the state House of Assembly member and the two local government chairmen from his constituency as well as other prominent leaders from the state.

Assuring Asiwaju Tinubu of his support and the fact that he remains in the APC, he said Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is in safe hands.

He said “ÄPC remains my party, my destiny. I’m not leaving the party for any other. I remain in the APC because victory is for the party.

“I also believe we have a presidential candidate in Asiwaju Tinubu who has the sagacity, capacity and experience to turn around the economy, the fortune of the country, the same way he did in Lagos. I believe that under Tinubu, Nigeria will do well in the comity of nations.

“Kano is under the able leadership of Governor Ganduje who I call an engineer because the wonderful things he has done in the state and the way he has turned Kano to a model. He has improved on and created additional infrastructure. Ganduje is everything to us in Kano.

“With Governor Ganduje leading the charge, we will deliver the state to APC, to Asiwaju Tinubu. We have done this before in Kano State. During the cancelled 1993 election, we voted for the MKO Abiola/Babagana Kingibe of the then SDP against the candidature of our son, late Alhaji Bashir Tofa, of the defunct NRC. Tofa was not just a Kano man, he was an eminent statesman. Kano votes on the basis of ideology. History will repeat itself again Kano. Mark my words.”

Asiwaju Tinubu thanked Ado Doguwa for the visit, promising to stand by him and the people of the state for their support.

He recalled that he had come a long way with Ado Doguwa, from their days in the 1992 National Assembly, he in the Senate and Doguwa in the House of Representatives, describing the House Majority Leader his son and a dependable ally.

PoliticsRegional Commodity Exchanges, Solution To Rural Poverty And Low Agro-output by Zydote(op): 7:16am On Nov 03, 2022
Regional Commodity Exchanges As The Ultimate Panacea To Rural Poverty and Low Agricultural Productivity.

By Taminu Yakubu

Nigeria has 75 million hectares of land for farming. Of these, only 44% or 33 million has been deployed into production with a yield hardly up to 20% of the average standard threshold. Nigeria has 1.2 million hectares for irrigation, with only 25% of it or 300,000 hectares under cultivation. The observed suboptimal output is certainly due to low productivity exacerbated by massive under investment. And there is a historical setting to this conclusion, among other reasons.

The abrogation of states owned commodity boards in the wake of the Structural Adjustment Program (SAP) disconnected Nigeria’s agricultural and rural sectors from international trade by destroying the quality assurance scheme that had made both to thrive.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu correctly believes that the final solution to the challenges in agriculture and the rural areas lies in reconnecting our agriculture to the global markets to overcome the crippling effects of the sectors’ under capitalization. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, again, correctly believes that there is no better way to attract the needed investment to these two interrelated sectors than through regional commodity exchanges.

The regional commodity exchanges would come with Institutions, Infrastructures and Instruments that would address the enduring challenges of low agricultural productivity, negate the lack of financial inclusion among 40 million farmers and rural dwellers, stop the arbitrage which keeps our farmers in perpetual poverty, reverse the absence of a national food security program, open up the global markets for our agricultural commodities, turn around the lack of standardization and ultimately guarantee an endless flow of liquidity from the global financial markets for the proper capitalization and substantial improvement of yields in agriculture in Nigeria.

There are very compelling macroeconomic factors why the commodity exchanges should start as regional entities. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a strong advocate for the political reorganization and economic restructuring of the country, believes that the federating units require solid economic institutions that would engender commercial competition and capital accumulation among them.

In parts of the country where agriculture and rural areas are the major components of the informal sector, the praxis of a warehousing receipt system will shrink the sector and make deposit money banks viable enough to extend financial inclusion to rural inhabitants including women farmers. A warehousing receipt system will also turn the huge farming population of 40 million people into tax payers. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, subscribes to the profound world view that, it is this transformation of farmers into tax payers that will make our subnational governments finally financially viable.

PoliticsPDP Senator, Nnamani Lists Tinubu's Achievements In Health Sector As Governor by Zydote(op): 6:11am On Oct 31, 2022
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu #citi_BOY Lagos State Health Sector 1999-2007. A Review: Before taking the oath of office, Bola formed a transitional working group to assess the state of Lagos's health and make some recommendations which were immediately implemented.
A Thread

PMTCT –Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission
IEC– Information, Education and Communication ( like posters, handbills, pamphlets etc)
BCC – Behavioral Change Communication.(Materials or process used to communicate IECs effectively)LASEMS –Lagos State Emergency Med. Services

Some of these recommendations include: - the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency which was in charge of HIV/AIDS control.
HIV prevalence decreased as a result, falling from 6.7% to 3.5% between 1999 and 2007.

Thousands of pregnant women received counseling/therapy in PMTCT in the 10 PMTCT centers set up by his government, thereby aiding in preventing mother-to-child transmission.

Roll back malaria program was kicked off and more than 3.6 million patients received free treatment and more than 681,000 and 1 million treated nets and BCC/IEC supplies were supplied, respectively.

Over 181,627 doses of the Sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine formulations were provided, and intermittent preventative therapy for malaria in pregnant women was implemented. A medical culture well established in Lagos State. See citation.

To end poliomyelitis, Lagos State actively participated in the NPI, National Program on Immunization and more than 2.5 million children received the Polio vaccine within the campaign.

Under the Asiwaju government, Lagos State launched a School Health Program, which provided free eye screening and treatment for around 6,600 students and provided free milk to over 900 public schools totaling about 297,000students.

This initiative provided health training to over 200 master teachers and health professionals.
His administration also embarked on General Free Health Care with a Reproductive Component.

The Free Health Scheme covered Children Under 12 and Adults Over 60, it also included no-cost prenatal care for expectant mothers.
This plan also benefited public employees, their spouses, and their four dependent children who were under the age of 18.

The free health program helped more than 4 million children, 1.9 million adults, and 1.2 million government employees.
While the reproductive health program was responsible for training 420 community-based workers, 70 health workers, and 154 community health extension workers

in the numerous reproductive health interventions by the state.
The various programs helped over 328,000 people from Lagos State.

Over 654,000 adults were examined as part of Lagos State's Blindness Preventive Program, and 221,000 received free glasses and medication in addition to free medication, while 11,000 persons received free surgical procedures.

Lagos State's budgeted allocation for health increased from 1.6 billion to 11.8 billion between 1999 and 2006. More than 3,400 people were employed by Lagos State, and more than 5,000 healthcare professionals were trained in various programs.

To stop the brain drain from the health industry, Asiwaju additionally implemented several allowances for medical personnel.
The following are additional state initiatives related to health:
–Rural health ambulance boat service.

–Hospital based 24hrs free emergency services (LASEMS).
– Pre hospital ambulance Service
– Drug quality control laboratory.
– Establishment of Environmental health monitoring unit.
–Completion of abandoned hospital projects
To name a few.

In recognition of this achievement, the Tinubu government was given both national and international honors, including:
- The Habitat Award for Improving the Living Environment (2002).
- The World Leadership Award (2005)

At the 50th National Council on Health conference, which was held in Abuja in 2007, Lagos state was the only state to receive the award of merit in honor of the great contribution made toward improved health services in Nigeria.

PoliticsTinubu To Present Action Plan To Private Sector Leaders In Lagos by Zydote(op): 10:56pm On Oct 30, 2022
All Progressives Congress Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will on Tuesday in Lagos meet with the business and the organised private sector leaders.

The meeting with the business leaders and captains of industry will hold at the Eko Hotel and Suites from 12noon. It will afford the economic players and thought leaders in the private sector to interact with the APC candidate and interrogate his Action Plan for Nigeria.

President Muhammadu Buhari on October 21, 2022 unveiled Tinubu-Shettima policy document christened ‘Action Plan for a Better Nigeria’. The document has enjoyed positive reviews across various segments of the economy since it was launched.

Secretary of APC Presidential Campaign Council, Hon. James Faleke said the town hall session was convened to allow Asiwaju Tinubu share his vision for a better Nigeria with various actors in the economy and allow for critical examination of the policy options contained in the Action Plan.

“Asiwaju Tinubu has a very rich private sector background and experience. He has abiding faith in private enterprise and its fundamental role in national development and economic growth. The private sector needs power, predictability and consistency in policy to drive investment and boost national productivity.

“The dialogue will enable Business Leaders to also share their insights and concerns with our Presidential candidate. The town hall will be a great avenue to sell Asiwaju’s vision for Nigeria,” Faleke said.

PoliticsTompolo, Pipeline Surveillance And The Limits Of Misleading Information by Zydote(op): 5:20pm On Oct 18, 2022
It may become necessary for the Nigerian authorities to clear the air on the pipeline surveillance contract awarded to a consortium of private companies that includes Government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo, given that Tompolo has now started trying to posture as the main person ‘securing’ Nigeria’s pipelines.

This could not be farther from the truth. The surveillance contract is a ‘If you see something, say something’ assignment, where Tompolo and his men are supposed to take advantage of their familiarity with Nigeria’s vast creeks, and provide intelligence to the military as needed. Tompolo’s case is like that of a low-level support staff trying to take credit for the achievements of a company’s CEO or Board. Not only trying to take credit, but even also shamelessly downplay or diminish the efforts of the people doing the heavy lifting.

He has his usefulness of course, no doubt, and the intelligence they provide is very valuable, but Tompolo and his men do not carry out any prosecution, or destruction of seized assets – all of these powers belong to and remain with the Nigerian Government, and these responsibilities are being discharged with the seriousness required.

The recent news of the arrest and destruction of a vessel was on account of intelligence provided by the pipeline surveillance teams, intelligence that the Nigerian military promptly and swiftly acted upon, deploying personnel and platforms to ensure arrests were made, and the criminal ship destroyed. This is in line with the new directives to that effect – arrest the criminals, and destroy their working tools to serve as a strong deterrent.

Military sources say that the vastness of the size of the Niger Delta’s creeks make it impossible for it to be covered alone by the military, from an intelligence-gathering viewpoint.

Many of the pipelines in the region run through very remote villages and communities, which are mostly swampland and marshes, and nobody knows these areas better than the people in the community themselves. Hence the decision to involve them in providing surveillance, like a form of community policing.

But the actual work of arresting, seizing the equipment being used, and destroying the illegal connections and refineries, remains the work of the Nigerian military, a task which is being actively carried out.

There is Operation Delta Safe, a Joint Task Force bringing together all the various law enforcement agencies – Navy, Army, Air Force, Police, DSS, Civil Defence and others, while there are also the existing Naval Bases in the area, across the Western, Eastern and Central Naval Commands.

Commendably, the Defence Headquarters has started doing more to show the successes being achieved in the fight against oil theft, but more needs to be done, also to educate Nigerians on what is being done by the government, and to prevent opportunists like Tompolo from trying to take credit that they have no business taking.

PoliticsJimi Lawal Emerges PDP Governorship Candidate In Ogun State by Zydote(op): 10:29pm On Oct 17, 2022
The Ogun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday conducted the court-ordered rerun primaries across the state, with Otunba Jimi Lawal emerging as the party Governorship candidate ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Penpushing reports that, the Governorship re-run said to be in line with court judgment was held at DLK events centre in Abeokuta, while in same vein the National Assembly and State House of Assembly primaries were held in the various constituencies in the state.

The Financial Secretary of the party, Bola Ademosu who led other members of the State Executive Committee to conduct the court-ordered rerun, said a total of 463 delegates were accredited to vote, adding that Jimi Lawal, emerged the gubernatorial candidate with 456 votes, and that trio of Ladi Adebutu, Segun Sowunmi and Abodunrin John Abimbola got zero votes, explaining that of the number, seven votes were voided

Penpushing further reports that, it is recalled that the Federal High Court, Abeokuta, had in two judgments delivered on the 27th of September, 2022, in Suit number. FHC/AB/CS/87/22 and suit number. FHC/AB/CS/83/22, ordered the State Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun state to conduct fresh primaries within 14-days.

The defendants, however, filed an application for stay of execution in respect of the two judgments which were determined on Thursday, 13th October, 2022,while the application in respect in respect of suit number FHC/AB/CS/87/22 was dismissed, and the one in respect of suit number FHC/AB/CS/83/22 was withdrawn by the defendants/applicants (i.e. PDP and Adebutu).

Penpushing also reports that, Odumosu stated that with the development it paved the way for the State Executive Committee of the party to comply with the court order while the judgment debtors pursue their appeals.

The State Executive Committee of the party led by the Acting Chairman Hon Taiwo Akinlabi in response to the re-run announced suspension of Lawal and four others which include Hon Bola Odumosu,AlhajjiAjadi Fasiu, Alhaji Kola Akinyemi and Otunba Tope Ashiru.

Penpushing reports that, a statement by Publicity of the party, Bankole Akinloye said they are all suspended for gross disregards to the party hierarchy, anti party activities and treacherous acts capable of undermining the strength & wellbeing of the party in the State.

The Project Director, Jimi Adebisi Lawal Campaign Organization, Austin Oniyokor in swift response to the purported suspension said it was nothing but the weeping of a beaten and battered premature adult, describing it as the case of the voice of Jacob but the hand of Esau.

“The purported suspension of the just elected governorship candidate of the Ogun state PDP, Otunba Jimi Adebisi Lawal (JAL) is nothing but the weeping of a beaten and battered premature adult. It is the case of the voice of Jacob but the hand of Esau”, Oniyokor said.

T”o be sure, it is a sad commentary on our democracy and the rule of law that some lawless individuals could gather somewhere under the remote control of one of the aspirants who has just been defeated in the court-ordered governorship rerun to claim to have suspended party stalwarts for complying with subsisting court orders and judgments”,he added.

“It is the irony of our political space and system that those who are contemptuous of valid and subsisting judgments and orders of court could turn round to claim that they have suspended law-abiding citizens. Clearly, this contemptuous act cannot stand the test of time and the law”,he stated

“All their contemptuous acts will be taken before the court and the full weight of the law will be visited on them in due course.Until then, we want to appeal to all our party leaders, elders, supporters and the general public to remain firm in the face of the needless provocation. This political gymnastics will soon pass like others before
