The much talked about Olympic has come and gone, with 204 NOCs, approximately 10,500 athletes participated in 302 Events in 26 sports. Only 85 countries won at least one gold medal. 7 countries made history by winning their first ever olympic medal. The countries includes : Bahrain, Botswana, Cyprus, Gabon, Grenada, Guatemala and Montenegro. Of all the seven countries, Grenada was the only country to go home with a gold medal. The host nation, Great Britain was placed third (29 gold, 17 silver and 19 bronze) in the medal table below USA (46 gold, 29 silver and 29 bronze) and China (38 gold, 27 silver and 87 bronze) which ended 1st and 2nd respectively in the medal standing.
