The issue of perennial power outage has not only become a household name to Nigeria but a national embarrassment to citizens as well. Tapping into this problem, LG Electronics last week introduced the world’s first battery LED TV into the Nigerian market.

The novel LG LED TV called LG 32LS3800 Battery LED TV, though operates on electricity has a long lasting battery that ensures TV viewing is not unnecessarily interrupted when in it is use.

According to LG, the TV comes with exciting features that make for exciting entertainment experience. It is portable and easy to carry which makes it convenient for it to be moved from one place to the other.

The company said this unique feature ensures that the fun and entertainment is not limited to indoor settings alone, as it can also come in handy for alfresco gatherings. Apart from watching favourite TV programs, the 32LS3800 Battery TV also comes with a USB slot which enables consumers watch Divx Movies from their flash or external hard drives.

Amongst various features of the LG Battery LED TV is also the in-built surge protector for long lasting durability and better performance against Power surge; the battery which comes in handy during power outages has a long battery life as it can last the duration of a football match.

Speaking at the event, the General Manager, Home Entertainment Division, LG Electronics, Mr. Dave Shin said that the LG Battery TV has come to end the embarrassment faced by Nigerian TV viewers by solving they problem experienced as a result of the constant Power outage that households and businesses in Nigeria experience’.

The LED lighting system which is said to guarantees quality pictures is also capable for the TV’s excellent energy efficiency; it uses 50% or less electrical power, which in the long run is estimated to be cost effective.

The Battery TV’s has an ergonomic body that will appeal to consumers looking for a TV that can perform on many levels. In terms of design and features, Shin said the Battery TV sets a standard that will be hard to beat.

Also speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Fouani Nigeria Limited, Mr Mohamed Fouani Said: ‘Owing to our unflinching commitment, to making available to our teeming consumers only products that would enable them achieve their aspirations and dreams of the good life, we would stop at nothing to continually enrich them with products of technological innovations, stylish designs and most importantly giving them value for money spent’.

Fouani further, said that the ultimate aim for the launch of the LG Battery TV is to enrich family time which is waning as a result of the power interruptions that is the reality in Nigeria. It is our belief that it will create a unique platform for individuals to be rejuvenated and realize utmost relaxation and entertainment with their families, friends and loved ones anytime, anywhere.

Some of the guests who spoke to Hi-Tech at the end of the programme, described the product as a big relief to Nigerian viewers and commended the company for the innovative depth technology that distinguishes LG LED Battery TV.

Unlike the conventional TV sets, the battery LED TV eliminates the problem of TV viewers having to scamper for alternative power supply sources like generators; because with the Battery TV they can continue watching TV programs uninterrupted.

The product is also said to be designed to avoid the inhaling of fumes from generating sets, with the health implications. For some some people, the introduction of the technology, could spark the birth a new experience in the nation’s entertainment industry.
