Ukrainian Police has summoned a Pastor, Sunday Adelaja, to report for what is feared may be an arrest and detention in a controversial racial discrimination and religious victimisation case which has been going on for three years, Empowered Newswire reported.

Confirming the invitation by the nation's Internal Affairs Ministry in an interview over the weekend, Adelaja said the case over which he was being summoned was about the collapse of a business outfit owned by members of his church.

The Nigerian-born Ukranian pastor, who was described last year by the New York Times as one of the country's "Best Known Public Figure" is facing what many see as trumped up charges in a country where another young Nigerian man was recently charged with attempted murder for defending himself against four Ukrainian attackers.

Adelaja, founder of the largest church in Europe, The Embassy of the Blessed Kingdom of God for All Nations in Kiev, told Empowered Newswire that he had been summoned by the Ukraine police to appear on August 28 and discuss how members of his church ran a business enterprise aground, and also allegations that he was running a crime organization.

Dismissing the allegation as mere political charges that bore no resemblance to fact, Adelaja said "in Ukraine, you don't have to commit a crime before you are accused, you only have to be targetted."

His attorney, Andrey Fedur, assured that Adelaja “cannot be punished, for he does not have anything to do with this case. The charges are absolutely made up and have no foundation.”

While Adelaja's political battle had been on since 2009, the invitation to the state police on Tuesday is seen as a heightening of the case after some church members had been detained for over two years.

Besides, the Pastor had been under police surveillance and he’s not allowed to travel out of the country.

Washington DC publisher, Dr. Segun Olanipekun, informed that five others had been arrested by the police ahead of Pastor Adelaja's invitation on Tuesday.

According to Olanipekun, "the church fears that this invitation and the change of the charge to a criminal one is part of the plot to jail the pastor as he is seen to be a threat to the present government."

The business outfit was formed by some members of Adelaja's church, but amidst the global economic crisis, the company failed and many investors lost a lot of money. While there had been no direct link to Pastor Adelaja in the management of the company, besides that the owners were members of the church, the Ukrainian police was said to be insisting on linking Adelaja to the failure of the company and alleging criminal acts against the company.

Truly, Sunday pastors the largest CHARISMATIC/EVANGELICAL church in Europe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunday_Adelaja
Note that the Church is less than 2 decades old and has grown tremendously. While the orthodox membership is decreasing, the Embassy of God is growing remarkably in membership. Let's appreciate God for what he is using one of our own to do instead of coming from a denominational point of view. The only reason Christianity has not dominated the scene the way it should is because we are the only religion that criticize each other on paper and everywhere. Jesus said a divided Kingdom cannot stand(Matt 12:25)that's why he prayed for unity, God even confessed that nothing can stop a united people from achieving results(Gen 11:6). Why are we quick to criticize a fellow believer? who bewitched you. You are not of God going against His agenda.

Pastor Sunday Adelaja has achieved a lot... Google him and you would be amazed how God has used this man. See other popular Nigerian preachers and a brief biography http://www.facebook.com/#!/media/set/?set=a.117107168321000.11289.117103751654675&type=3
