The story of the students of
Banking and Finance in the
University of Uyo is such a pathetic
one. The department of Banking
and Finance was established in the
University of Uyo during 2000
academic session, It should by now
have turned out the best bankers
and financial analyst into the
Financial market, has instead
turned out to frustrate its well
baked graduating students.
A turn around was experienced
when the Former Head of
Department Dr Ebong Ephraim
resigned his position, this lead to
the emergence of Dr Uduak Ubom
as the new Head of Department.
Upon taking over as the new Head
of Department saw the
appointment of his wife Dr. Mrs
Anothonia Ubom as the Exams
officer after the successful tenure of
Mr John Udoidem, who was very
hard working.
He was so articulate and precise
that as student finish their
academic activities, Mr Udoidem
would compile the result and send
for vetting and approval without
delay,with the emergence of Dr.
Mrs Anthonia Ubom Students who
graduated since 2008 are still
waiting for their result to be
compile, vetted and their names
pasted for National Youth Service
Corps (NYSC).
Students with Reg No: 03, 04,
05,06, and 07 who had since
finished their Academic
requirement for graduation are still
lingering around as Dr.Mrs Ubom
has refuse to compile or send their
result for vetting and approval. A
student who pleaded anonymous
while interacting with NaijaLeaks
said since the husband is the Head
of Department that make the wife
who is the exams officer
untouchable. Another student said
she is very lazy, as she will tell
students that is she is tired or that
her laptop is bad or low battery
whenever they requested to know
the state of their result. The
Husband and wife have since
turned the Department to their
family organization.
Investigations by NaijaLeaks has
also revealed that some students
decided to petition Dr. Mrs Ubom
the exams officer to the University
of Uyo Vice Chancellor Prof Comfort
Ekpo, after series of petition/report
and weak warning sent by the
weak VC the story of the students
of Banking and Finance has not
changed. It is now a known fact
that the University of Uyo, VC Prof
Comfort Ekpo is weak and helpless
as she can’t govern the
lecturers and other staffs, this is so
because she is controlled by a set of
cabal who helped her attain the
post of the University Vice
Chancellor.
This frustration of Students by
Ubom’s is not only found in
banking and finance department
but also in other departments in
the University a case study is
History and International Relations
dept and also in the Engineering
Faculty.
The future of graduating students
have been delayed, thwarted and
even frustrated if this “bad
blood� of the Ubom’s is not
checked. Also let the Ubom’s
know that Destiny can only be
delayed not denied.
On this Note an SOS is hereby sent
by the affected Students to the
University Senate Chambers, The
Vice Chancellor of University of Uyo,
Nigeria University Commission
(NUC), The Paramount Ruler of
Mkpat Enin(The Ubom’s LG of
origin), friends and colleague of
Uboms to please plead the
cause of the effected students by
compelling the Uboms to
compute and release students who
have since completed their
academic activities,especially now
were insecurity and crime is on the
increase in-line with the saying
that an idle mind is a devil's
workshop.
