people wanting to play games on their laptop should keep these in mind:

The main component that determines how well a laptop can run video games is the GPU (graphics processing unit).

while the CPU is important; a very fast processor e.g core i7 paired with a very weak GPU e.g Intel HD series will produce a choppy experience in most modern games.

If you are on a budget and want to get a laptop that can play most games at medium to high settings go for a laptop with AMD A8 or better A10 APU (accelerated processing unit)

what AMD did with there APU series is that they paired a good Radeon GPU with a good CPU on a single chip.

while Intel paired a very good CPU with a weak GPU on a single chip


This brought about a reduce in cost and power consumption which ultimately makes a laptop containing AMD APU cheaper and faster than a similar specs Intel laptop in gaming.

1. Integrated: this type has the GPU and the CPU on a single die Chip. e.g Intel HD graphics and Amd radeon 7660g


2. Discrete: this is type is on a separate chip all by itself and are almost always more powerful than the intel HD graphics e.g Nvidia geforce 640m, 650m...and Amd mobility radeon 7670m, 8650m



The only Intel HD integrated GPU that can rival the discrete parts comes in their 4th gen core i7 which is prohibitively expensive but the radeon found in Amd A10 and A8 APUs can still give some discrete class GPUs a run for their money.

if you have the money go for the Intel CPU + Discrete GPU combination
but if you're on a budget the APU would serve you better when it comes to gaming however make sure you avoid the A4 and A6 APUs like a plague.

Sorry Guys I've been having antispambot issues, so I've been unable to post for a while.

I think Dell laptops are generally cheaper than their HP counterparts.
Gaming with keyboards is very cool and o.k but there are apps that makes all PC games work with game-pads so its a win-win situation.

A minimum Video Ram of 1 Gb (Preferably Nvidia, ATI is also cool). THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.
Make sure the processor is a minimum of a Core i5.
Ram is easily upgradeable but go for at least 6 Gb.


NB: If you could be patient and save a little more, I'll advice you to get a Laptop with a Video Ram of 2 Gb as 1 Gb Graphics cards are getting outdated. It'll cost you about 125k+ but it is worth it as you'll be guaranteed to play games coming out in a few years to come at high resolutions.

yeah thats true but to my own knowledge its not compulsory u buy an AMD laptop chipped CPU. u can go for Intel core i7 "ivy bridge series" with amd gpu on it.
Note: all laptop produces heat especially when doing heavy stuffs on it like playing some crazy games e.g Battlefield 4 and the likes.

regardless of which type of cpu you are getting. over heating will be an issue if you are planning on gaming a lot. if you plan on gaming, better get a strong cooling pad/stand to go with your laptop or an extra fan for your graphics card, if its a standing unit cpu.

Guys...who's using HP 250 here..my cousin bought it yesterday..it has 4gig ram,500gig HDD,core i3 processor with windows 8 pre-installed but considering it's 32mb dedicated video memory coupled with Intel HD graphics..will it be able to run games like Fifa 14,PES 14 and d likes? My own laptop comes with 384mb dedicated video memory and i play most games with ease including Pes 13 and Fifa 13...hope he'll be able to play those games too...thanks
