Numbers 6:1-4, the Lord instructed the people who wanted to set themselves apart to the Lord in a special way to abstain from wine, alcoholic drinks, grapes and their like. Also in Luke 1:15, the parents of John the Baptist were told not to allow him to touch alcohol because he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before his birth.

Ephesians 5:18
“Don’t be drunk with wine, because it will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit”

It is the Holy Spirit that should dominate the life of a believer and not Alcohol. A believer should be continuously filled and governed by the Holy Spirit. Remember that our bodies should be the temple of the Holy Ghost rather than a container for intoxicating drinks. Was any man ever made a better Christian by the use of alcohol? Was any man of God ever better fitted to counsel an anxious sinner, or to pray, or to preach the gospel, by the use of intoxicating drinks? The answers to these questions should point us in the right direction.

There is an argument that the pro-alcoholics use in the bible; 1 Timothy 5:23, “Don’t drink only water. You ought to drink a LITTLE wine for the sake of your stomach because you are sick so often.

Therefore, it is safe to say for medical reasons only, the use of alcohol is allowed. But must not be abused .

1 Thessalonians 5: 6-8
“So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded. Night is the time when people sleep and drinkers get drunk. But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armour of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation”

It is apparent that Paul desires the Thessalonians to be “alert,” mentally watchful, and “sober.” Those who drink alcohol can hardly be in this state of mind.

“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him and be strong in your faith............"

In the western world, one of the ways the law enforcers use to find out whether a driver is over the legal limit of driving under the influence of alcohol, is for the culprit to walk in a straight line. I will call that staying alert and standing firm against the accuser. Most fail this simple test and try to blame the devil. What a contradiction!

Again physical self-discipline is joined with mental vigilance. Despite all his political accomplishments, Alexander the Great’s drinking habit eventually lead to his death.

Stay away from alcohol as you will avoid a burning bush. It is obvious that its cons far outweigh its pros. The indwelling of the Spirit is connected with the abstinence of liquor. I will choose to be filled with the Holy Spirit every day. What about you?

As an atheist, I agree, alcohol in greater than very moderate amounts can be extremely destructive. However, it does not take a holy book from God to make this observation. People have known this since earliest recorded history, and probably before that as well.

It only becomes bad when it is over-dosed.

Going by the topic of this post, we can safely conclude that Jesus Christ partook in evil by turning water in to alcoholic wine and serving same at his last supper. That is apart from the fact that we learn in luke 7:33-35 that Jesus regularly drank alcoholic wine.

Here is a complete lists of all the famous people and celebrities who don't drink alcohol. In some cases, one have stopped drinking after overcoming an alcohol problems and in other cases, they never drank a bit of alcohol a day in their lives. Thanks!!
