Mate in Uruguay means much of their culture, cementing a very interesting phenomenon that has been studied. Arguably mate is one of the foundation stones of Uruguayan culture as Native drank it before colonization. Mate is a traditional drink of the South American region comprising Paraguay, Argentina, Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil and Uruguay. It is a tea that is made from the yerba mate plant of the same name.
