Hello great Nlanders doctors. My 3.7yrs old son came back from school on Thursday with high fever and headache. I didn't let him go to on Friday, and later on Friday, he developed catarrh (runny nose), cough and tears from his eyes. Immediately my wife got ARSUAMOON for him which he started on Friday night. The next day, my 1.7yr old daughter started the same symptoms and on Sunday, that's today, its the same with the brother. Funny too, am beginning to develop same symptoms. These are the medications I've Been giving them, apart from my son who is taking arsuamoon alone.... Vitamin C syrup, multivitamin syrup, ibuprofen syrup. Their temperature is reducing but the runny nose, red eye, and cough ain't getting better.
Pls what do I do? I could use some help from you here pls.

And also Evans co-trimoxazole. Pls what do you advice?

@ law confessor, they are really playing and the temp has reduced, I don't know if its a respiratory tract infection. We just visited the doctor last week pls. I don't think the hospital or going to the hospital is something to be proud of. What then is the need of this this segment in this kind of forum, afterall what doctors will give to me in the hospital is advice, which I will still pay for because they are still kids and can't be tested or injected, ie, in my own hospital. I called him though, but I need some new advice from pros here pls. Could it be the weather cos he said a lot of kids are suffering same.

@ law confessor, I don't mean to say you are not a professional pls, all am saying is I could use some advice here. I told you I already listened to your first advice and called my doctor. We will be seeing him first thing in the morning cos its a bit far, but in the meantime, I could get some useful ideas here. Tanx for you concern anyway, much appreciated.

Ur suspicions of an URTI maybe right,it maynot also be.D symptoms u av described cud be any number of resp tract infections,malaria,evn measles if there is an accompanying rash;dats y its always best to take dem to d nearest hosp where dey can b seen by a dr,not necessarily yours,if its far away.I think ur best bet is starting an antimalarial wt analgesic,den taking dem to d hosp first thing in d morn,evn if d temp subsides,because it may relapse if a proper diagnosis has not bn made.
Pls where did u get d notion dat kids are not investigated(I.e,lab tests),nothing can be further frm d truth,its evn more imperative in your children's case since u all seem to b coming down wt d same symptoms.If u are paying out of ur pocket,demand investigations b4 treatment,but if its health insurance,I wudnt b surprised if d hosp treats on history alone(cost considerations).Quick recovery to u& ur kids

If I may ask, what did the doctor say was wrong with them?

^ malaria, but when left untreated for some time, caused cough, cold and catarrh. So the main cause was malaria, but the symptoms were the ones I complained abt. Tanx for showing much love.
