The argument for / against child discipline in Nigeria and all over the world is one that so many have differing opinions on – most believe children should be disciplined to set them in the right path – “Spare the rod and spoil the child”.

But in this case we aren’t talking about kids, we are talking grown adults being punished like secondary or primary school students.

According to the Daily Post NG, two female students of the University of Port-Harcourt, Choba, Rivers State, from the department of Linguistics & Communication Studies, faculty of Humanities, were severely flogged for gallivanting while class was going on – we hope he flogged them on their plam and not on their buttocks
The dean of the faculty, Professor O. M. Ndimele, flogged the two female students, while having LCS 100, with the 100 level LCS students, at the Convocation Arena of the school.

We have heard previous reports of Undergraduates flogged or asked to ‘Kneel’ in schools like Convenant University and others.
This isn’t right I must say, a university is no place to be wielding the koboko.
