Economic Freedom Via Self Employment by blogger77: 10:27am On Oct 03, 2012
In this period of financial crisis and dwindling economy, companies are laying off staff, government and companies cutting down spending and cost of living on the rise. This period provide lots of opportunities for those that have the right thinking and the right focus. Self employment is the key to economic freedom in this our growing population. We Nigerians must start creating the job for ourselves and becoming architects of our own business success. People with the right business model are the ones that can tap into these opportunities created by these downtimes. I prefer to think of self-employment in terms of systems building. You build income-generating systems that generate income for you, systems you own and control. It’s like you own the golden goose, and it does the work of laying the golden eggs.

Many Nigerians are too quick to jump into a business without a proper analysis of the model to use and other external factors. Some jump into a particular business because Mr. A is doing such business and he is successful. Many could be tempted to start a similar business such as Mr. A without proper study of the success factors that had worked for Mr. A. Copying had become the rule in the Nigeria business environment and that is why 90% of small startup company in Nigeria fails. Creativity, knowledge and innovation are the driving force for every successful startup. Leveraging on the existing platforms to create an innovative product that create value and solve a particular problem in our society is the basic rule for economic freedom and emancipation.

Let’s stop the blame game; the government cannot do it for all us. I understand that the government had failed in some areas but every one of us is the architect of his or her destiny and we must not let that slip away from us. The online trading industry and the professional service industry are areas of business that requires very little capital, very good knowledge and very high rewarding business ventures. Let’s look at these two areas more closely.

Online trading industry

As I have said before, the major and primary requirements for every business is knowledge. The pioneer of the business must have a very deep and fervent knowledge of the kind of business he or she wants to venture. There are so many opportunities in the Nigeria online industry that Nigerians can tap into and make a living. While living abroad for years, I discovered that many people make a living, pay their bills, fund holiday’s trips and send kids to school just by selling products on an online auction sites and marketplace. In the recent months, some online auction marketplace such as justbuyorsell.com had sprung up in Nigeria and that is a good development in the right direction. Nigerians should leverage on these platforms to become self employed and better citizen of the nation. Get rich quick attitudes and school of thought cannot get us anywhere.
Justbuyorsell.com offers Nigerians the opportunity both home and abroad to make a living online. What are required to sell on justbuyorsell.com is just an internet connection and understanding of how the platform works. The facility is designed to be 100% fraud free and buyers are 100% protected. It creates an opportunity for every Nigerian both home and abroad to actively participate in online commerce in Nigeria and makes a living doing so. What is required to become a merchant is just an internet connection and sellers can list unlimited number of items for free. There is No buying or selling listing fees, No signup fees and those with no capital and logistic to own a physical shop can leverage on this platform to sell products and those with capital and shop can now sell their products to both local and international clients irrespective of geographical location. I will recommend all Nigerians willing to make a living online to visit the site www.justbuyorsell.com to get further details on how to get started.

Professional service industry

As I have said before, this service industry requires little or no capital to start. It only requires good knowledge of the sector. For example the legal sector, accounting sector, security sector, health sector, education sector, marketing sector etc. Somebody with very good practical knowledge in any of these sectors can effectively get himself or herself self employed and make a good living doing so.
