Bold3(Blackberry 9780) is the upgraded version of Bold2 i.e BlackBerry 9700. Any of the two phone types are good, I used Bold2 for over a year and I have had friends who use the Bold3 for some time too but never complained about it, so I think either of the two will do just well. If not for the pinging, I think the iPhone rocks either 4 or 4S will do just good, and if you can't afford the 4's you can go for the 3GS too, it all depends on what you really looking for and how boxed you are financially. I don't think either Bold2 or Bold3 will give you any problem, but the rule of thumb is always go for brand new stuffs, that way you enjoy getting more value for your money.
