Our client, a leading food manufacturer is seeking an HR professional to provide Management support for their Food service division.
The role will provide HR generalist support for approximately 150 employees in the GTA. Primary areas of responsibility include managing turnover, recruiting (for Sales, Management, Office, Production and Route Driver positions), payroll and benefits administration, driving positive employee relations and monitoring and ensuring compliance with the Company's legal obligations as to the Workers' Compensation, Unemployment, and other employment laws.
The Human Resources Manager leads Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, safety, quality, productivity, and goal attainment. As a member of the HR leadership team, this position will report to the Plant Manager and will play a key role in the direction of the company’s emerging high performance culture.
Key Responsibilities:

-Provide HR leadership across a broad spectrum of activities to maximize organizational effectiveness and performance (strategic recruitment and staffing, organizational design, developing talent, shaping the organization, and fostering communication).
-Recommends, implements, and supports employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale. Counsels and acts as a business partner with managers, supervisors, and employees on employment issues.
-Oversees the administration of the plant collective bargaining agreement and solve problems for the mutual good of the Company and employees by communicating with the Union in a manner designed to foster a positive relationship.
-Oversees the execution of the plant safety program. Helps create energy, enthusiasm, and passion at all levels for workplace safety and injury prevention. Ensures that trend analysis, observations, employee feedback, inspection data, company safety initiatives, and regulations are used to prioritize the safety activities in the facility.
-Facilitate organizational excellence by providing leadership in the following areas;
-Employment Law
- Employee Engagement
- Leadership Development
- Recruitment and Retention
- Employee Wellness Programs
- Compensation
- Pension and Benefits
Qualifications & Experience:
-Bachelor's degree in HR Management or related field.
-Minimum 1-2 years of progressive experience as an HR professional.
-Fully competent in all conventional aspects of HR.
-Experience supporting leaders, managers, and employees on a wide range of issues including organizational effectiveness, performance management, talent acquisition, talent development and employee relations.
-Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational development, organizational planning, employee relations, safety, training, and labor relations preferred.
-Experience managing labour relations in unionized plants is an asset.
-Familiar with industrial operations, preferably food manufacturing.
-Strong PC skills; proficiency with various word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software.
-Strong organizational skills to handle high volumes of work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment while maintaining excellent delivery and quality performance.
-Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
-Must be willing and able to travel.
