Information Reaching Us today is that the Nigeria Minister of Education, Professor Ruqayyatu Rufai had disclosed that the ministry of education is ready to approve the request made by Nigerian teachers association, stating that the Nigeria Federal Government should consider Age 65 years as their retirement age as against the 60 years which was already in place.

This information was disclosed in Abuja, when the Minister of Education said that the ministry and the federal governmnet has not discarded the appeal made by the teachers through its highest body, National Union of Teachers ( NUT) on the extension of their retirement age rangingfrom 60 to 65 years.

The Minister of Education had also divulged that the ministry was working towards the matter, only that it must follow the normal procedure due for matters like this.

According to the minister who was at a press briefing of the event marking the 2012 World Teachers Day, which will be holding on Friday promised to support the teachers in the best possible way and in relation to their request, butequally stressed that the higher authority must be made to understand why such concern raised by the teachers Union must be implemented.

He also assured the Teacher's that the ministry would not let them down.
