Two Police Men Allegedly Robbed A Briton In Abuja by Nobody: 4:53pm On Nov 29, 2012 |
A British citizen, Mr. Khomeini Bukhari, has asked an Abuja Federal High Court to order the Inspector-Gener al of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, to investigate his complaint that two policemen robbed him in Abuja on October 29, 2011. The plaintiff also asked the court to order the IG to make the outcome of the investigation public. The Briton in his amended originating summons is also praying the court to order the IG to pay him N1bn as damages for the failure of the police authorities to investigate his complaint. Bukhari is also claiming N1bn as examplary and aggravated damages for a press statement in which the Federal Capital Territory police command cast doubts on his sanity. The court, presided over by Justice Gabriel Kolawole, had last November 21, adjourned to January 31, 2013, to hear an application for amendment of the originating summons and the notice of preliminary objection filed by the police. In the amended writ and claims filed by his lawyer, Mr. Bamidele Aturu, the Briton asked the court for “an order mandating/ directing the defendant to investigate the report made by the plaintiff to his office on October 13, 2011 concerning the robbery incident of October 29 at the Millennium Park F.C.T Abuja involving some police officers and make public the outcome of the investigation.” The Briton claimed the police authorities not only failed to investigate his complaint, but also made “malicious and libellous” statements against his person. The statement was credited to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Jimoh Moshood, on December 7, 2011. In the statement, the command doubted Bukhari’s claims that the two policemen, Samuel Ekpah and Daniel Marcus, robbed him, and also insinuated that the plaintiff was of unsound mind. |
