NPL Board Dissolved by free2ryhme: 5:55pm On Dec 05, 2012
The executive board of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) has been thrown out of office, supersport.com can report.

The Premier League board was sacked by 16 clubs after a meeting in Nigeria's capital, Abuja, that spanned through Tuesday into the wee hours of Wednesday.

Supersport.com was informed that the 16 clubs unanimously agreed to sack the Premier League board.

The clubs levelled a number of accusations against the NPL board including its failure to attract a title sponsor.

One of the 16 club coordinators, who took part in the meeting, informed supersport.com that a new date for the congress will be fixed.

"The congress will no longer hold this week because a new date will be announced. We will tell the world this in a press conference from 8am (on Wednesday)," he said.

This development comes up with about 24 hours to the seventh Premier League congress scheduled to hold in the northern city of Kano.

Following the dissolution of the NPL board chaired by Victor Baribote Rumson, the 16 clubs have set up an Interim Management Committee (IMC).

The interim committee is made up of six men including Mike Idoko, Alloy Chukwuemeka, Promise Nwachukwu, Tony Ogola, Sabo Babayaro and Alhaji Sule Chindo.

Relegated clubs like Niger Tornadoes, Rising Stars and expelled Ocean Boys as well as the six zonal coordinators were present during the meeting.

The 16 clubs are scheduled to hold a press conference at Denis Hotel in Wuse II, Abuja to announce their decision on the NPL board.
