You might be marveled that this poser is raised as the answer looks so obvious, but wait a minute. I am a masters degree holder from one of the European universities, but still clad with salary level of 180k per month here in Nigeria (recently increased from 150k) with the oddest kind of job for my educational height.

I got an offer for internship in one of the nicest countries in Europe and the promise for retention after that depends on how well I am able to impress them. I am not struggling for accommodation as my girlfriend's (from Europe) cousin lives and works there and promised of getting me a modest accommodation at a affordable cost. I think I have the opportunity of making great contacts base on what I read which is more relevant out there. This will obviously delay my marriage at 35, and im i ready for the sacrifice? I am presently thinking in the line of "a bird at hand...". Folks do I really have this bird in the present job where i do the oddest type of work and yet earn peanuts?

Do I go for unpaid internship where I would maybe borrow about 5000 Euros for living expenses for 6 months with the hope of either being retained (I will earn 5000 Euros monthly if this happens smiley) or making the best of connections that would launch me into a great career thereafter (speculative)?

I will appreciate a front page for this smiley

Thinking...........

Lots of promises that may fail at a particular point. Good luck.

Hmm... Some people God bless them with opportunities..
My advice is europe, that on ur resume increases your chance back here say for some reason they dont retain you. But 180k is a decent salary naw, why are you playing it like its badddd!!!!

Take leave if its possible,so that in case anything goes wrong you may land back to the job.

@outrage, I have a masters degree from europe and I have 8 years experience so that pay is nothing.@Ola, I took leave for my masters and they may not grant another one.

ALL, the internship is absolutely unpaid; and the country has strict immigration laws.

well i think you are in a hurry,Nigeria,s work place is turn by turn and you will grow once you are willing to wait. You will still be back in Nigeria again then you will see your mates that waited.I hope you cousin is honest about invents out there.Because so many regrets are outside who left good paying jobs.if you earn 180k and live cheap ,its better that in europe where you earn well and pay so much for rent and food including transport and other things.Your skill has to be special to earn a lot.

If i were you, i will retain my present job, there is space to grow and there is no guarantee that you maybe retained after your internship in Europe except on the condition that you impress them. Its dicey plus the N180,000 you get at present is decent, if i get that i would leave UK for Nigeria right away my friend. use your head, be wise.

@ OP,
what makes your job odd?
What kind of job are you doing that you just dont feel is okay for your educational height, maybe when tell us, people can advise you better. Personally, with that salary of you earn, you can as well go and visit that same country you want to go for internship. It still boils down to choice anyway!

I am not practising my discipline and the risk involved in what I do is quite intense. Apart from the risk (which is not my major problem...)there isnt much job satisfaction bro,

hey bro listen up! There's nofin so special about your master's degree! I know several msc holders that earn much lower than 180k per month! So if you earn as high as that amount, consider it a priviledge in this country. With 180k, you can save and travel out to any country of your choice! Beside, what kind of job do you do? Tell us and lets make the analysis! I strongly believe that a bird at hand is far better than 10k in the forest. So make your decision yourself!

Job Satisfaction is the key, its not always about just the money. And the weight working in an European Country adds to your CV. Take the European Offer

you are in a very dicey position, see ehn at the end of the day you will be the one to live with the consequences of your decisions so make sure you go with what your heart tells you. From what i could deduce from your write up it seems you are really keen on going or you tend to favour the european internship. If the european internship suites your ideal job model then you can take the plunge life itself is all about risks. Like they say, when you are confused about what you want to do....listen to the little child inside of you.

An intern simply because you have to learn their way of doing things. Once you learn the ropes, who knows ?
And when you choose to return home, you will be coming back as an experienced professional .

Besides, how will other firms know that you were an intern? You go tell them say without you the company no fit function wink

I think you want this sir, go for it. Life is all about adventures .

My man of God said I should go. I have not personally heard from God . What I am going to do in the internship is exactly my area of specialisation and what I enjoy doing. I am presently not practicing what I studied, I think I should take the risk... already calling the travel insurance guy. Any further advice will still be appreciated. cry
