How Do I Overcome The Fear Of God? by Truth1011: 7:21am On Dec 17, 2012
I believe it is ignorant to believe there is 'god', likewise, insincere to believe there is none. Though it is wise to fear there might be one if you can and choose to live with fear of the unknown. I, personally 'cannot' and choose not to because I feel it is better for me to be comfortable with what I believe in than to believe in what I'm comfortable with by satifying fear. I choose to believe in myself but the fear of 'god' that has been invoked in me mainly because of my background is making me uncomfortable. So how do I overcome it.

P.S: This is religious section, not christian. So, don't tell me the fear of 'God' is the beginning of wisdom. The same bible tells you 'he' has not given you the spirit of fear.

My brother you need to fear God oo because our God is awesom.

Fear him in his Holiness, righteousness, and good work nobody like him.

Have you ever hear that scientist produce skin, flesh, bones and blood but yet they know each element that constitute all these things.

Finally anytime you're reading your Bible ask the Holy Spirit to interprite it to you. because you can't understand each verses with ordinary mind.
Re: How Do I Overcome The Fear Of God? by thelastPope(m): 9:59am On Dec 17, 2012
The fear of God is the red light from your spirit, calling you back to your source, God!

You can never get rid of it. You might suppress it, especially in public, but you can never get rid of it. Why? Because man is not sovereign! Man must connect to a sovereign being for leadership. Atheist and some scientists are just people trying hard publicly to supress that which they are constantly faced with privately; the fear of God! Every great man that ever lived confronted it on their death bed.

You need to turn to God and ask for His love and mercy. If you seek God sincerely, He will reveal Himself to you. I said seek God, not seek powers or things. If you seek powers, you might end up with the devil. The key is the sincerity of your heart! God is calling out to you. Don't reject Him. In him, you will find peace! Peace is not an absense of war or pain. It is an inward, God given confidence that He is there for you always!

Simple.

Focus on the important things in life and you will see that the supernatural is of secondary importance to your antural world

because your cannot absolutely prove it. Same goes for those who believe in God

You're are saying I should ignore my believe. How can I focus if I don't believe in myself. 'Cos I know you cannot believe in yourself 100% and still believe in 'god' 100% vice versa. Most importantly, your believe system is the engine that runs your life.

Is it thus insincere to believe that Santa Claus does not exist? Or that in the whole wide universe, there is no spaghetti monster flying around and doing things? Can you absolutely prove that those do not exist?

My definition of believe is accept the fact 100% (i.e with zero percentage of doubt). Sorry there is no other word I can use. With that being said, it is reasonable to doubt the inexistence of santa claus since you were not there then to actually confirm or not confirm the absolute truth. Aside from natural laws like the gas laws, laws of motion, mathematical statements and few others that are accepted by atleast a typical homo sapiens brian provided it understands it. Other rules/laws/statements like moral laws, human rights, 10 commandments etc are usually relative to some extent.

I love the fear of God that is in me.

Op why did you want to overcome the fear of God in you ? Why are you uncomfortable with it? The fear of God is the light that illuminate the path of man. Without the fear of God, man would walk in darkness. Are you saying you will like to walk in darkness?

If I understand you, and that's a big "if", in your world anything can exist and unless such existence can be disproven, it is unreasonable to doubt the existence. Yes?

I run my life on fact/knowledge

Let me explain the relationship between fact/knowledge, believe and truth in my own perspective.

To solve a mathematical problem all the variables are needed to get the absolute answer. Consider this mathematical statement.
1+2+3+4=10 where a=1, b=2, c=3, 4=d and 10=X.
a,b,c and d are the variables, a+b+c+d=X is the formular and X is the solution we are looking for.
If all the variables are known, we get an absolute value of X (solution) which is 10. But if one or more value(s) of the variable is unknown, we get a value of X relative to the value of the missing variables based on the known variables.
Illustration(of unknown value of a):
a+2+3+4=X
:. 9=X-a
In the illustration above, the value of X is relative to (depends on) the value of a

Now, if you're a computer expert, you will agree with me that most (if not all) life problems can be mathematically illustrated.
Now in real life, the truth is usually assummed based on the fact/knowledge/proof that that we have. Mathematically, the facts are the variables and the truth is the solution. And in most life problems, many of the variable are usually unknown and our assumed truth is usually a belief (relative truth). [I assume you understand the theory of relativism and universalism]

Moral of the story: The truth (relative/believe) is usually based on the known fact and relative to the unknown fact. But if the number of unknown fact is zero then the truth is absolute.
Nevertheless, I will agree with you that the variable should be based on facts/knowledge not on a certian book or religion invented by
organised group of human beings nor the oral tradition of our forefathers.

What you have just done is what is called real fallacy and self deceit. Your whole hypothesis and conclusions are based on what was handed down to you by teachers right from when you were a toddler. What if you had grown up in a world where you where taught that 1+1=5. Your equation and conclusion would have ended up differently. You claim you have knowledge and truth but all your knowledge is based on someone else work and thought. What if the person was wrong or outright lying. exactly what happened when they recently declared that Pluto was no longer a planet. Do you know how many people lived their lives daily and scientifically on the "knowledge" that Pluto was a planet? do you know how many theories and calculations were done based on Pluto being a planet. The foolishness of some scientists is that science knows so much, but in reality, science knows very little. Very very little my friend. In fact, science is proudly declaring things today as discovery, that were clearly known thousands of years back and written in the bible. An example is Laughter therapy.

Point is, man is a faith being, including you. You do everything you do daily purely based on faith. You know earthquakes can occur but you dont fear when you walk the streets. You know airplane crash everyday, but you dont constantly look over your head if one is coming down right now. You have simply learnt to believe. The problem is, you dont want to believe in God because he requires certain things of you that you cant live with. That is the real issue with atheists! They think that by rejecting the supernatural, they can keep themselves temporarily safe from it. It is a big fallacy because you will always answer to it one day! No escape from it!

Do you known the meaning of Fallacy?
There is nothing fallacious about my post. It is you who is too blind by faith in somebody else philosophy that you cannot understand simple arithmetic logic. Even a new born baby with fully developed brain can count the breast of his mother and conclude it is double. If you cannot understand common arithmetic logic, how can you understand my theory when you don't even know the meaning of fallacy. This is not an argument but a theory open to criticism from open minded people only.

My point is simple; live you life based on fact and knowledge.

These two things are based on the current evidence and not faith.

I am not arguing for absolute truth here

i was born, 2nd may 1980. My mum told me this. She rememberd this date and told me while growing up

You still dont get it. How is 1+1=2 your philosophy. You were told in kindergarten that 1+1=2. it isnt your philosophy. If you had grown up in an island all by yourself, you probably would have seen things completely differently. there was a time men sat for hours and argued that the world was flat and the man who said it was round was considered a fool. You are a summation of other people's thoughts. Your whole life's beliefs and values are a summation of other people's thoughts. That is why I called your position fallacy. The truth is,, we are presented with choices in life and we have to choose. The secret most times is that your mind can be dominated by one form of imformation more than another and then you make an influenced choice based on what you have inside. The claim that what you have is true knowledge is a subject of the things you have come to accept. That is why I said, if you seek with an open heart, you will find. There is a dept of knowledge in man because man was created in God's image. But most men run away from it and seek external knowledge from other peoples deductions. That was the mistake eve made in the garden and they fell. The way God works is that He communicates with you and the depth of your heart confirms His communication to you. But you cannot receive such communication until you open up your heart to His truth.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I never disagreed with you. The only thing I don't know if I disagreed with is your definition of 'fact/Knowledge' which is more complicated to me than what I percieved from your post. That is why I explained mine. And in the end I agreed with your philosophy.

Okay, I understand you now.

My stance is simple. We should learn and live based on the current evidence. This is why I cant work with a god in my life. There is no evidence for him for over 2,000 years and counting.

I also try to improve my life and so, if someone brings evidence that proves me wrong, I will change
