Why Exchange Food During Festivities? by nenergy(m): 9:04pm On Dec 22, 2012 |
There is an age old tradition amongst Nigerians regardless of Ethnic or religious inclination to give food to their neighbours during festivities (sallah, christmas, new year's day etc). But my question is; why exchange food? Is it an unconscious way of showing off culinary prowess? Why feed someone who has "belle full-ed" when thousands of families are not sure of where their next meal will come from? Abeg save your rice, i get my own. A little thoughtfulness will make your gifts this festive season "meaningful". Compliments of the season everyone! |

It is not a show of skills or wealth but a display of love to your neighbours. Some people prefer taking their food to shelters and places where the less priviledge are but some just decide to share love and happiness with their neighbours. 1 Like |
