-------2003, Dr. Ayo Daramola, a PDP gubernatorial aspirant in Ekiti State, and a consultant on Social Protection and HIV/AIDS to the World Bank Country Office in Abuja was murdered in his bedroom at his hometown, Ijan-Ekiti. A nutritionist who recently joined the race, his death is linked to the intra-party crisis, which has thrown up political enemies after the death of the third term agenda in the state. He was stabbed, shot and hacked to death.

 ------   Engineer Funso Williams, PDP gubernatorial aspirant in Lagos State and chairman, Board of Directors of Nigeria Maritime Authority (NMA) was murdered on July 27, 2006. Police are still investigating this assassination. Forensic experts were invited from London to assist them. The police arrested PDP gubernatorial aspirants in the state and some members of the NMA board. They were held for about three weeks. 

-------- On July 16, 2005 unknown gunmen killed Alhaji Lateef (alias Lati Osogbo) a close associate of the strongman of Ibadan politics, Alhaji Lamidi Adebibu, in Ibadan. 
     
--------- Alhaji Sulaimon Olajokun, a Lagos-based businessman and one of the 'financiers' of the group, Oranmiyan was murdered on his way to Lagos from Ile-Ife Osun State, in a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) on May 15, 2005. He was a chieftain of the Alliance for Democracy (AD). 
       
---------  On December 23, 2001, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Bola Ige, was killed inside his bedroom at Ibadan, Oyo State. The police declared one Olugbenga Adebayo, ( a.k.a. Fryo) wanted in connection with the murder. The trial of suspects took many twists and turns; several judges resigned from the case, and Ige's wife died after one of the futile hearings to trace the killers. The Oyo government withdrew the case from the court in 2004. 
       
---------- Mrs. Emily Omope (a.k.a . Thatcher), an AD member, died on March 3, 2003 at the UCH Ibadan after an acid attack in December last year by unknown persons. 
       
 --------- Unknown assailants in Lagos killed Dele Arojo a PDP gubernatorial aspirant on November 25, 2002. 
       
 --------- On December 19, 2001, Mr. Odunayo Olagbaju, a member of the Osun State House of Assembly, was killed in front of the Moore police station, Ile-Ife, Osun State. 

 --------- Ahmed Sardauna, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State also fell to the assassin’s bullet in 2003

---------- Otunba Dipo Dina [/b]Candidate of the Action Congress (AC) in the 2007 governorship election in Ogun State, Dipo Dina, shot dead in Ota by suspected assassins in 2010

, a former special adviser on mineral resources to the immediate past governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu, was murdered by unknown assailants in 2010.

Onipede’s body was found in a  pool of blood in his home in Badagry, Lagos.

---------- Atiba Local Government Area Chairman, Alhaji Azeez Adegbile, was assassinated by a yet-to-be-identified three-man gang.


Adegbile 55, was murdered in his sleep at his Odunerin Compound home around Akodudu area of Isale Oyo about 11.50 am.

---------- .A chairmanship aspirant on the platform of Action Congress (AC), in Ward II of Ibadan South East Local Government area of Oyo State, Hon. Taiwo Falade, was yesterday murdered by gunmen at his Odo-Oba, Ibadan, residence.

---------- A key member of the legal team of Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, in the election petition case over the 2007 election, is dead. He died after being set ablaze by unknown assassins.

Mr. Jonathan Adebisi Ogundere, who was the oldest lawyer in the team, was abducted from his country home in Oyan, Odo Otin Local Government Area by some people, who drove him to a village called Igbotele and set him ablaze.

Aug 15 2002. Ahmed Pategi, Kwata State PDP chairman, and his police orderly was gunned down by unknown gunmen on the highway near Ilorin.

Lagos State was shocked when news filtered in that the former Special Adviser to the former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Ahmed Onipede, had being gruesomely assassinated in his hometown, Badagry, after he returned from a political meeting.

Edo Sule Ugbagwu, a correspondent with The Nation newspaper was murdered by yet to be identified gunmen April 2010

Bayo Owu, an Assistant Editor with The Guardian was killed in similar circumstances 2010

Lateef Salako (aka Eleweomo). killed after a PDP rally Dec 30. 2010 He was killed during a crisis that ensued after the party’s congress at the Ona-Ara local government area of the state. Two other supporters of the Senate leader, Teslim Folarin, were also reportedly killed during the fracas.

. a former local government chairman and then special adviser on Health to Lagos state governor, Babatunde Fashola, was shot and killed last night ( Nov 18 2012) by hoodlums on his way to his hometown Ajepe ijebu in Ogun state.Eyewitnesses said his killers did not remove anything from his car.



Ibadan — Barely 48 hours after the murder of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart, Azeez Ademola Adegbile, in Oyo State, another politician, this time, an Action Congress (AC) stalwart, has been killed in the state capital.

Unknown assailants who were said to have swooped on him at the peak of a peace meeting reportedly, killed the AC stalwart, Taiwo Falade, in his Odo-Oba residence on Friday evening march 6. 2010.


A MEMBER of the House of Representatives representing Lagelu Federal Constituency, Honourable Segun Oladimeji (alias Segelu) has been killed by suspected assassins.
He was killed around 9.30pm at a relaxation joint in Ejioku, Lagelu Local Government area of Oyo State on Friday night. During the incident, three other people sustained gun shot injuries. Among those injured were the personal assistant to the politician, Alhaji Isiaka Obideyi, the Senior Legislative Assistant (SLA ), Mr. Peter Dairo and one other person who is still receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.



Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, a former Secretary to the Oyo State Government was on Wednesday night shot in Erunmu Sept 29 2011, near Ibadan
. He is currently being treated for gunshot wounds in a hospital in Ibadan. ( survived praise God)



Pa Alfred Rewane was an avowed critic of military dictatorship, a business merchant and an elder states man. He was NADECO financia during the military regime. In 1994, he was murdered in his Lagos home at Ikeja



Odunayo Olagbaju represented Ile-Ife Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly. He was killed on December 21, 2001


On November 21, 2009, Charles Nsiegbe, a politician of high repute was wasted in the street of Port-Harcourt. He was a political associate of River State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amachi. Since his death, the police are still running from pillar to post looking for his killers.


Also recently, in Benin City, Mr. Ayo Omorogbe who was a frontline politician under the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) was trailed to his house and shot dead. He was said to be returning from a political rally where he had declared his intention to run for the House of Representatives under Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency.

He was a former boss of Nigeria Airways. Chief Agom was on the entourage of the former Benue State Governor, Senator George Akume when the accident occurred. Armed men caused the accident. They opened fire on the Governor’s car. In the process, Chief Akume was not Lucky; and he was felled own.


Unknown gunmen on February 8th, 2003 killed Chief Ogbonnaya Uche. He was ANPP senatorial candidate for Orlu zone in Imo State. His killers are yet to be brought to book.




Chief Aminasoari Dikobo was killed on the 16th of February 2004
. Before his death, he was the vice chairman of PDP (South South). The killers up till now have not been seen and apprehended. “The police allegedly adopted a face saving tactics of parading some armed robbers as “the suspects.”


A Chieftain of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Ogun State, Mr. Yomi Bamgbose, was shot dead ----(aug ) at the entrance to his home in Abeokuta, the state capital, by unknown gunmen.

It was learnt that the victim abandoned his car and took to his heels, shouting for help.
But the killers caught up with him, dragged him back to his gate and shot him severally in the chest.
A man, who does not want his name mentioned, said the criminals did not leave until they were sure that their victim was dead.

Also -----, a former Acting Chief Judge in Oyo State was killed by unknown gunmen at her home on Ondo Road, Old Bodija, Ibadan, the state capital.
The hoodlums forced their way into her home and killed her.

You only get arrested, tried and convicted (sometimes with jungle justice!) if you're a sufferhead that, out of hunger or desperation, steals a goat or tuber of yam; if you're connected or one of the owners of Nigeria, then (for you special lot wink) justice has a price and can be bought.

Nigeria is a 'gangsters paradise' in every sense of the word, and i'm sure Coolio had us in mind when he sang that song in the 90's.

Mr. Victor Nwankwo, Managing Director of Fourth Dimension Publishers and younger brother of Chief Arthur Nwankwo, was assassinated in Enugu in 2006.

hmmm! OGB!! I remember when he was assasinated one december like that.The man lived close to my house at Old Commissioners' Quarters in Shell Camp.I saw him 2 days before he was killed.Infact we heard the gunshot that sunday.He lived alone with his cook and his gateman while the rest of his family were abroad.He refused security guards to be attached to his apartment.He was shot on the stomach and as he was trying to escape through the fence,he was rushed to the hospital where he finally died.His wife later contested for the same senatorial position in Orlu on the platform of ANPP,but she lost.

How can I ever forget Chief Uche Ogbe who was butchered in his office at Alvan Ikoku College of Education in Owerri one monday morning after dropping his kids at school.The post of the Provost of AICE was the bone of contention.his killing was politically motivated.

Election violence claimed its first victim in Ondo State on Wednesday night as a member of the Labour Party (LP), Adeniyi Oyen, was shot dead by thugs suspected to be working for the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).



Former Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Osun State chapter, Alhaji Sulaiman Oseni, was, on Monday night, killed by unidentified gunmen in his shop in Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.


The Akure residence of the Ondo south Senatorial candidate of the Labour Party, Boluwaji Kunlere
, was invaded by gunmen yesterday morning, making the fourth time the house would be attacked in recent times.. Lucky man


The Peoples Democratic Party and the Action Congress of Nigeria on Sunday traded blame over the death of a PDP chieftain in Ekiti State, Chief Adeleye Awolumate.
The statement reads in part, “Chief Adeleye Awolumate, the Peoples Democratic Party chairman for Osun Ward in Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State, was among the victims of the reign of terror unleashed on the state. on Thursday, November 15, 2010 by the Action Congress of Nigeria and was buried on Saturday.



ONE of the supporters of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Ogbomoso, Mr. Isiaka Ademola, was reportedly killed and four others seriously injured when rampaging hoodlums believed to be supporters of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state attacked them.


Violence continued in Ekiti State on Thursday as a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ilogbo, Ido-Osi Local Government Area, Mr. Toyin Akinlade, was shot dead by yet to be identified gunmen.


THERE was grief in Ilawe-Ekiti, the headquarters of Ekiti South West Local Government Area Monday as an aspirant of the Action Congress (AC) to the House of Assembly, Mr. Kunle Ayaga, was killed.



Modu Fannami Gubio and at least four other people, including a 10-year-old child, were killed by men on motorbikes after Friday prayers in Maiduguri city.
Mr Gubio was the candidate for the opposition All Nigeria People's Party (ANPP) in April's elections.



“I can confirm that Danladi Isa Kademi, a lawmaker at the Kano state house of assembly was shot dead by two gunmen around 6:00 pm (1700 GMT) today,” Kano state police spokesman Magaji Majia said on Friday.


Gunmen on Sunday night shot dead Hajja Bayayi, a female Councillor representing the Bolori ward 1 in Nigeria's northern city of Maiduguri, the local media reported Monday



Port Harcourt — Leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF) Alhaji Mujaheed Dokubo-Asari yesterday named former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Governor Peter Odili of Rivers State as the men responsible for the murder of All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) chieftain Chief Marshall Harry in 2003.



Two brothers of a notable nollywood actor/director who is also Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate for Ife Federal constituency, Hon Rotimi Makinde and three others were killed on Saturday by gunmen in Ife, Osun state. Among the deceased were a pastor and his son who were killed in a church where Makinde's two brothers had run to for cover during an attack on the ACN's candidate around 2am.

, the confidential secretary to the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mohammed Uwais , was stabbed to death by unidentified assailants near the national mosque, Abuja. On January 7, 2002



on June 20, 2003, a lawyer, Chief Ajibola Olanipekun, was murdered in Ibadan, Oyo State in circumstances believed to be political


On March 21, 2003, ANPP house of Assembly aspirant, Mr. Anthony Nwodo was murdered in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. On March 27, 2003, ANPP councillorship candidate in Anambra State, Mr. Ikenna Ibor, was murdered. On April 19, 2003, ANPP stalwart, Onyewuchi Iwuchukwa was murdered in Ike duru, Imo State. On April 20, 2003, ANPP House of Assembly, Toni Dimegwu, was murdered in Imo state. On May 12, 2003, no fewer than 25 persons were killed at a political rally in Effurun, Delta State.

Alhaji Alabi Olajokun
, one of the political associates of the Lagos State commissioner for works and infrastructure, Alhaji Rauf Aregbesola, was killed by suspected assasins at Gbongan junction in Osun State
