What Area Of Hospitality Can I Go Into? by Sweetlemon(f): 9:09pm On Dec 26, 2012
Hello All!
I'm thinking of resigning from my current place of work for health reasons. Since it's next to impossible getting another job, I v decided to do business.
Because of my personality, I want to venture into hospitality.
Please what area of hospitality will N500K be enough for?
Been thinking of supplying rich native food to offices, conferences, etc.
May I have more suggestions please?
P.S: scammers don't even bother yourselves. All I want is suggestions and not your e-mail. Just drop your suggestions and go. Don't bother dropping your contacts or sending me pms. Thanks!

Yep! The food will be cooked in my commercial kitchen by me with the help of 2 hired hands.
But I need more suggestions of other businesses I can do in that area

Why don't you try supplying lunch boxes with healthy snacks, fruit Salad and maybe even add diet and vegetarian meals.
An exotic menu will attract busy workers who have little or no time for lunch.
All you need is to invest on an efficient delivery system.

What do you think?

If you're just starting out, don't try this. Its a recipe for disaster. Only do deliveries right on your street. I'm assuming you won't be silly enough to try anything other than staple african dishes.
By the way, when you say your personality, do you mean that you think you're a people person or what?
I'd say, for your budget, you got the buka thing locked down. Just smile and I have all the hospitality I need.

Buka? LMAO!
Canu imagine a girl like me as "mama put"? Laff wan tear my bele!
I think small scale deliveries to offices will be a fine idea. Suits my budget fine. I want to add a corporate, professional touch to it so buka is just too informal/local. I just want to know more kinds of hospitality businesses I can do

Nice business idea. You need to brainstorm on your own at your leisure hours. Your services has to be unique. Your packaging has to be very good and don't forget to make first impression count.

Pertaining other businesses you can do with this, you should know other things that go with food. Drinks for example. There are others, brainstorm!

@bobo Yekini, I really don't think you have a full grasp of what you're saying.

@Op this is a kind of business I would love to do but for it's nature.
I know a guy who distributed light breakfast meals around Accra in a mini Van every morning. He offers a combination of snacks ,Oat meals and Koko. (The type that has Milk in it) . He got his packaging right and trust me his customers always look forward to his delivery.
I have another friend who set up a mini spot for smoothies he calls "Body fuel". He sells the Idea of a healthy fruit drink with pop corn and makes Quiet a lot of Sales.
Based on this tow guys experience, I think it's a very lucrative business which I believe a woman will excel in due to the feminine touch.
Left to me, I Wouldn't really dig serving local dishes in an office environment but would be perfect if you have a spot close to an office district. I'm pretty sure lots of people would stop by as long as the meals are good (white house in Yaba is a good example).
So I think the opportunities are boundless, all that is needed is a little bit of creativity.

lol, possibly. I see your point, still I have good grasp of the scorching lagos sun and its belligerent commuters. I have a good grasp of 'no parking' 'no hawking' traffic laws. How about LG Health council touts and NAFDAC?

Funny enough there is nothing wrong in having a buka kind of kitchen, it's an idea I have myself, because its a buka style does not mean it has to be dirty or that you employ foul mouth ladies, it can be a buka style with taste, all them big time restaurant are big men's buka, having said that a mobile food shop will also go places as well, target a few areas and see how well it goes have breakfast lunch and dinner and your good to go once you can make a success out of that you can franchise it as well
